Thanks Brian I came to manila because of you in November after watching one of your vlogs and I loved it , am coming back again next February, you’re great ambassador for Philippines.
I've been around the world and the people of the Philippines are the friendliest, warm caring people. Of all the countries, I keep coming back to the Philippines. Simple but it really rocks. I will live there for my retirement.
Merry Christmas Happy New year to you and your love ones spend a new in the Philippines in the high rise buildings so you can watch the how New year turn Manila skyline into a warzone of fire works and firecrackers that last for more than an hour
My husband and I are retired Fil-american dual citizens. My son bought this 1 BR at Maridien Tower. We lived there for 2 yrs in 2021-22, deciding if we really want to retire in the Phil or go back to Old Bridge, NJ ehere we lived for 33 yrs. Living in the Philippines is the best for us now at our age. It is better quality of life. We had our retirement house constructed at South Forbes Silang Cavite, a gated community and just nextdoor to bustling Sta. Rosa City where almost everything you find in BGC is there, except for the luxury stores. Everything that you said is also true. The warmth of the filipino people makes life more meaningful. The celebration of Christmas is more meaningful specially to us Catholics. God bless you Brian.
We go back and forth between the Philippines and US. We have a good size 2br condo in BGC that we have owned since 2006. That was before BGC became popular. Back then, it was much cheaper to buy a condo. What we paid for our condo, was less than what you would pay now for a small 1br condo. What you said is 100% accurate. The lifestyle is totally different. When my wife and I want to go out for dinner in the US, it’s an ordeal just to find a place to go and most of the time we have to drive at least 15 minutes to get there. We can’t take Uber since it may cost more than our dinner. In BGC, we just go outside our condo, walk in any direction, and within 10 or 15 minute walk, we can usually find more than a dozen nice restaurant to go to. I’m not talking fast food but real nice restaurants. We have travelled to many parts of the US and I have not seen any city in the US that can offer what BGC has. Everything in BGC, from malls, grocery stores, cinemas, bars and entertainment are all within walking distance.
yes sir thats true...whatever you need you can easily find it through walking...you can buy what you want and you exercise yourself as well....god bless
i miss the sari-sari store, fresh food in the palengke, respectful people. Brian's words are always lyrical, satirical, funny - just smart and brilliant!
Hey Brian the Lion! I have been going back and forth from the Philippines sine 1994. My Cebuana wife and I married for 30 years. LOVE the Philippines, especially Bohol. Best place in the entire beautiful Philippines.
I was born and raised in the Philippines (in a quaint city of Dumaguete), but came here in the US for a job in a hospital, where I now lived for 30 years, currently in Indiana (yes, ruby-red state), though I'm not into politics, but it's near impossible not to be dragged into it. I've been a naturalized US citizen a long time ago, but still visit the Philippines regularly, and I'll say that I'm just enjoying the best of both worlds.
Everything well said. I have just returned from Philippines from a 2.5 week trip and already feel missing the warm culture and my relatives. My longest stay in the Philippines was 6 months. I hear a lot of good vibes about BGC however I think there are a lot of cities, including in the Visayas where you can get that upscale city vibe.
Flew from Los Angeles to spend three weeks in BGC for the holidays. Paid only $60 a night for a luxury condo with full gym and pool, close to Forbestown. Three Seven Elevens are within 3 min slow touristy walk. Weather has been perfect, rather cool when cloudy. Each one selling everything I need to survive for the day including cooked eggs, pork buns and wine. Surprised to see Spanish, French and German restaurants and bars. The Coffee Beans & Tea Leaf cafe has the best interiror design I have ever seen and I traveled to many key cities in Europe. Wine and food are sold too.
I live outside BGC, in our family owned condo near Greenfield district, Mandaluyong, everything is just a walking distance: grocery, church, mall, salons, SM Megamall, Shangrila Mall, Starmall, just minutes away from our condo..Literally, our condo community has everything on it: coffee shops, restaurants, grocery, bank ( very, clean, organized, posh) ...😂❤...love it..Philippines is not boring and not all parts are ugly..It is a land of joy and convenience for those who can afford a little luxury..
I’m here in Makati for 4 months to get away from the Montana winter 🥶 I go out to eat here almost every night. In the US even in MT it’s just too expensive especially when you tip 20-30% so I only eat out maybe once a week. Yeah it’s way to dry in AZ I will take the humidity here 👍🏻
The Japanese take pride in their exceptional service. They consider tipping as an insult. You're right to NOT tip if expected to. It borders on coercion.
Exactly but since i was born and raised here in Manila and worked as a customer service in restaurant i so i can relate whennit comes to tipping. I havent experience here coercion. I give because they dont getnpaid much. Its nice to see them happy if i give them tip Whoever experience that someone asking tip or by coercion and get offended sorry for that. Since i was born and raised here i can emoathized and i have more than them. I dont mind at all as long as i have to give and they are polite when asking cause i can relate. They show so much gratitude. And that makes me feel bless when i give. To each his own. If those people get offended you never know what is like to be poor
Thank you Brian for talking about Philippines thats' amazing. And thank you for coming to our country and live there. I am still in Europe but one day, i will be back to my beloved and wondetful country the Philippines🥰 ❤ Sending warm greetings to you.
I hope one day foreigners who adopt the kind of life in the Philippines will be carrying the kind of values that were taught to them and will be practiced in their country.
America - work hard , live like you were alone , time is gold to catch every Pennie’s , watch every move you make to keep you safe land of honey , good opportunities when you get a job , save save save for the coming days and be wise and smart stay away from trouble , respect the rules then USA is good for you ,,, Philippines _ language easy to communicate mostly peoples can speak and helps you . I really admire how Brian shares his experiences. The elegance and manner of speaking, his heartfelt descriptions and the poetic, witty way he tells his stories make you feel like you’re right there with him. It’s very inviting that makes you long to experience it for yourself in real life.
Oh wow I didn't know about the tipping issue. No wonder my cousin visiting Philippines from USA asked how much is she going to give for tip. And she was a little bit dumbfounded by how little it is(around $2😅) then we check the bill and in the receipt there's already 12% service charge so we assured her that it was fine.
Thank you, Brian for the kindest words, this made me very proud to be Pinoy. I love hearing good things about my country, coming from someone who happens to be a foreigner, someone that i would say very sincere and honest with his thoughts. You just painted a great picture of our country. MABUHAY ka!
If you experienced living in the Philippines for a long period of time you won’t go back to the western world… BGC is like living in New York without the price tag just like Balabac the Maldives of the Philippines without the price tag
Well said. The tipping is out of control. The ones that kill me are restaurants where you stand in line to order (not “fast food”), then seat yourself…and they are asking for a tip! Asking for a tip…not just grateful if they get a tip…they are trying to guilt trip you by making you select “no tip “ on their iPad! I just returned from BGC the first week of December. It was great!
The Philippines loves you Sir Brian. Before I wished to live in America but now in my 50's no thanks. I am Blessed to be a Filipino and enjoying everything here. My brother living in the US said this new year's was dead boring. No fireworks or any celebration in the neighborhood. Whereas here my goodness those deafening displays of fireworks makes you feel 2025 is already here. Our neighbors even invite us to have lunch or dinner. Not there in America ❤️❤️❤️
Well said! I have been to America as well as Australia. The people seem disconnected really. To each his own. There is no sense of community. Very different from the Philippines. No wonder Mental Health is a big issue in these countries which is a bit foreign to Filipinos. "What Mental Health"?
They have been promoting mental health awareness in the Philippines for the past year. People are still askance on the concept. Filipinos seldom have depression as we are family, friends and God oriented.
Hi, every country have their own weaknesses and strengths. It is a good feeling roaming in a place where there is a welcoming vibe from head to toe. The smile is free and contagious friendliness. I just like your narration about the Philippines, well said and thorough. Thank you for sharing.
You speak the truth. I'm up in Sun city, and was in Subic many years ago. I am retiring in the Philippines and or Malaysia in the next few years and can't wait to get back. Az has been nice, but it's time has come and gone. Have a great new years down in Tucson :-)
You and Kuya Kurt Tagalog are my most favorite American Vlogger, you two LOVE my country so much and i appreciate it. And in return...I watch the intire Ads that plays on your videos.... Thanks you for Loving our country Philippines.🥰🥰🥰
True that. Tipping is not mandatory in the Philippines. If you have some money to spare and happy with the service, you may give some, it will be appreciated, if you cant tip, everything is fine, its not a big deal. They will still be happy to serve you.
i had goosebumps watching ur video! thank U for experiencing my beloved country, the Philippines! God bless u for being so objective 😍 the one thing that am proud of us, Filipinos is that we aren’t racist against foreigners that are visiting our country or those who have lived & stayed for good here… that am so grateful unlike those in the videos that i have watch 😊
Have a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!!! The Philippines truth/facts vlogger should and can learn from you. Let's start the New Year in a positive note. GOD BLESS!!!
I'm from the Philippines married to an American husband for 32 years now. We've been here in Marana/Tucson area for 21 years so I know how you feel about this dry desert place. Can't wait for retirement coz we plan of living in the Philippines at least 6-8 months a year but it will be in Iloilo/Cebu area although my siblings are in Quezon City Manila. I have my last visit to the Philippines in September 2023 and it has changed a lot. I miss the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve celebrations in the Philippines. They are the best.
That's correct bro. it's not safe anymore why? The USA is no longer the USA we knew 50 years ago, nowadays in some states still hate crimes are rampant, especially if you are from Asia, The USA nowadays is infiltrated by Islam extremism & Islamic fundamentalism.
Thank you for this post. And you are right! There are so many things that we have here that are so incomparable with the uSA , but certainly connection is on top of my list why I choose to come home every year here in the Philippines, especially during Holiday Season up to summer time!
I actually liked the parts of US states that I’ve visited. Beautiful mountains, lakes, museums etc. And because I come from a tropical weather country, I appreciated the cool and dry weather there. I have been wanting to visit but because of the news of hate crimes, racism etc I’ve been advised not to visit. I am not saying that Philippines is perfect but here I feel much safer. And I still hope to visit US again 😊 On the self absorbed thing or being in your own world, intent on your mobile phones, tablet or yourself, I fear that some generation or group or a portion of the population are getting to that point already. It’s just that our population age ranges from different decades that’s why it’s not yet very evident. I hope we don’t become that type of society where everyone keeps to themselves or doesn’t even know their neighbors. But thank you for the good words and for seeing the good in the Philippines and us Filipinos 💖 enjoy your time with your family and have a great new year.
Dude, i have been to downtown LA and Sanfo also san jose last month. There were parts of the city that i felt really unsafe walking around. To think that i am from a third world country🙄 and lives in manila. There were a lot of parts of those cities that had drug addicts walking on the sidewalks like zombies. I was doing a diy tour and asking random people how to get here adn there. I really felt the difference of people. Some are friendly and will help but for the most parts i was just ignored while others just gave a look of why is this person talking to me. Like everything is just really different. Going there for vacation seeing the places you want to see is nice and all but thats just it. I never really felt any connection with anything or anyone. It's like everyone is in their own bubble. But yeah, America is still a beautiful country to visit. Lots of places to see and i really love the winter. Jeez, I miss shopping in ross and driving in the freeway. I was flyiiiing. I wish i also had the chance to visit and see more of the nature side of the state.
I've lived in Tucson. You assessment is excellent. The tips are insane in America. Plus all the environmental restrictions to build in Tucson. There's nothing in Tucson much except for housing for U of A students.
May God Bless you more Brian! Thank you for appreciating our country. Really really appreciate each words you said. Take care Brian! Hope to see you in our country when me & my hubby retire 4 years from now
Hi Brian, I've seen quite a few of your videos. I am a dual Filipino-American citizen who has returned to the Philippine--an ex-pat like you after living in the States for 44-1/2 years. My wife and retired in 2018. Sadly she passed away last August after battling a brief illness. Staying home in the States without her was a quick decision for me to relocate back home. I have been here in only a month and don't miss my other home (States). Luckily my wife and I invested in a condo many many years ago before prices rose. Not only do I feel at home here but the high cost of living in the States gave me more reasons to stay in the Philippines. Naturally I still plan to visit family and friends in the States in the future. I live in BGC. Maybe I'll bump into you one of these days.
Im glad to hear that you enjoyed staying in Philippines , you are always welcome to stay and comeback in our country Philippines. We love you Brian take care and happy new year , see you soon in BGC...
Brian, love watching your channel. Me too, going back to San Diego, away from my wife and daughter. i am currently living in Central Luzon since August 2023 and leaving the 2nd week of 2025. Here, i live on 500.00 pesos a month, where i will be spending 4 times cost of living in U.S. Thank you for loving our culture and very anxious to come back to BGC. God bless and a happy New Year to you and family. By the way, my mom and sister are now in Apatche Junction Arizona.
The Storyteller, his 'comparisons' and lessons learned. Insights truly down to earth. Truly gratifying to listen to, to every narrative and tales told. Happy New Year Brian!
Hi Brian i like your vlog about the Philippines.I am base here in the US and i am a Filipino and really you’re right in everything you said.Philippines or BGC is not a perfect country or place but people are so friendly and they will accept you who you are not racist.Am happy that you like our country.I am one of your subscriber thank you for a great comments about BGC.The sad thing is some foreigners or even here in the US said and think that the Philippines is a 3rd world country even if they are not been there. Not to brag our commercial malls that are so huge and almost everywhere where you can even see yourself on the floor like a mirror clean and shiny.People knows how to speak fluent english.Beaches are everywhere in the country. And yes you’re right tipping is voluntary not compulsory and it should be like that. Thanks again stay safe and God bless you always.Looking forward for more vlogs about the Philippines.
good family time ... AND missing the Philippines will make you even more appreciative of your life here. Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!!! Cheers to 2025!
Hi Brain I also find the celebration of Christmas starting very early Sept Oct is fantastic, vibrant and alive we love it very much. Come home very little of anything.
Brian, thanks for this vlog. Am a subscriber and have been following you for a while now. I am a Fil-Am who is now living in the Philippines after my retirement in the US. I am a bit surprised when you talked about US politics and the Trump administration that's coming up in January 2025. I think your guess is as good as mine: we don't know what Trump is going to do. I only hope he doesn't kill democracy because if we were to base his Project 2025 platform, he has a lot of things up in his sleeves that will make the American people worry and scared. Be that as it may, I am just glad I am back in the Philippines where I decided to spend what remains of my life. Happy New Year to You and you may have continued success with your vlogging. I look forward to more of your content. Peace!!!
MAGA....TRUMP is the best Person in making it hàppen...He s the Knight that will save USA from further destruction...too much Democracy without Discipline is bad for everything!
Nice to see you Brian visiting your hometown! Just wanted to say i do follow your vlogs and everything your saying here its on point! I'm here in Colorado Filipina been living here since 1986 with my two sisters we were adopted from Iloilo city our birth home! Long story short the cost of living here in USA is insane! Everything soo expensive even groceries, and you are about homelessness here, Philippines my Country yes we do have our poor areas but people are still happy not like here everybody is in their own world mad, stress doom n gloom which I'm still not use to because i was use to stress free environment were laughing is part of our daily lives! I miss the hot weather for sure! Well, enjoy your visit and you be back to Philippines before you know it! Mabuhay and a safe Trip back to PH in advance❤🥰🇵🇭
Thank you for appreciating or promoting our country Philippines. Invite your family and friends here. Hope you come back here again . I love your vlog. I am one of your fans.
You right in just Brian even here in uk is they’re keep them self. I invite my neighbours for barbecue but if they have barbecue I never have invited. So I stop inviting them this is one way. Have a good new year in have a better health always.🤙
I heard (from taxi drivers so don't quote me) that since bgc only has a few roads going in and out.. If something happens they get reported and they close down the exits if needed (maybe a checkpoint or something?) I do t know if that is true.. But even just for reputation that's another reason for bgc being a safe place
I used to dream America once, actually for us Filipinos it's the land of opportunity, land of milk and honey. Many of my old friends who where even migrated, even my eldest sister to the youngest brother, most every relatives I have. They even consider the Philippines as a vacation spot, the things that bother me most about losing interest over America is those self entitled people ( Karen thing ), racist , discrimination and gun violence.
We Filipinos discriminate our very own people in terms of where they were born, eduacated and occupation but we treat white people especially Americans very differently, not knowing they are tourist in the Philippines but they are living on government Assistance in US.
@@maelestepa9252 Not gonna make excuses for the judgmental people who do that (anyway, it's not unique to the PH), but you really can't compare it to the kind of racism and discrimination that happens in the US where hate crimes exist and people can be physically assaulted and even killed for their differences. That degree of racial hatred is simply too alien a concept for most Pinoys to comprehend. And then add all the mass/school shootings on top of it. The US is a great country, but like everywhere else, it has its own flaws. But its flaws are really big and really scary. They make the Pinoy flaw you talk about look cute by comparison.
I'm here in South Carolina. Everyday there's always mass shootings in the news in USA. I'm glad I'm retired. I was a 3rd shift cashier and stocker in Walmart for 14 years. It's scary to work that shift today because of so much shootings.
You’re just so awesome bro! Your candid way of exposing your experiences and giving out your shall I say “comparative analysis” is indeed something to be recognized . I salute you and thank you so much 🥰🫶👍
I admire u always saying good vibes to my homeland Pinas! Thank you and you are always welcome to come back here. I miss ur blog scrolling around BGC. Happy Holiday 🎉
Happy new year Brian 🎉 thank you for your appreciation for our country I hope you stay here in the Philippines forever and you will have you residency and not going back and forth , God bless you 🙏 😊
Was living in the Philly for 3 years but had to move back for my senior MediCare. For those seniors considering retiring to Asia always factor in $400 - $700/mo for FULL healthcare coverage vs. your home country's plan. (e.g. MediCare in the USA $185/mo). In Asia the monthly premium goes up w/ age and pre-existing conditions.
Hi Brian !!! Oh wow you’re from Tucson ? I’m a pure Filipino/American. I’ve lived in Tucson for 36 years and just retired last June & now back in the Philippines been here for 6 months now. I’ve lived in two many places in Tucson. Before I left Tucson, I was staying at fort Lowell and swan for 3 months. To be honest with you, I don’t miss Tucson at all. Hope I can meet you here in the Philippines. Have a wonderful holidays to you and your love ones✨✨🇵🇭🇺🇸. Take care

Probably thats in a province. I havent experience that in metro manila. I tip but nobody ask for there tines i wanted to tip someone but refuse
@@erwinbravo5981 _ I was referring to tipping being out of control in the U.S. not the Philippines.
@ ah ok i stand corrected. Sorry
Thank you Brian for your kind words about my Homeland Philippines. Much appreciated.❤🎉😊
Well said! I have been to America as well as Australia. The people seem disconnected really. To each his own. There is no sense of community. Very different from the Philippines. No wonder Mental Health is a big issue in these countries which is a bit foreign to Filipinos. "What Mental Health"?
With a few exceptions, Filipinos have "Mental Health" for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday.
They have been promoting mental health awareness in the Philippines for the past year. People are still askance on the concept. Filipinos seldom have depression as we are family, friends and God oriented.
MARITES is a happy pill. Take it or leave it. Still, it will keep you alive. 😂
Hi, every country have their own weaknesses and strengths. It is a good feeling roaming in a place where there is a welcoming vibe from head to toe. The smile is free and contagious friendliness. I just like your narration about the Philippines, well said and thorough. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Brian thank. We want more people like you. We need positivity and kindness. BGC is waiting for you with a smile.
Thanks for loving our country. ❤
You speak the truth. I'm up in Sun city, and was in Subic many years ago. I am retiring in the Philippines and or Malaysia in the next few years and can't wait to get back. Az has been nice, but it's time has come and gone. Have a great new years down in Tucson :-)
Mabuhay Brian! Thank you for loving the Philippines and God bless America.
You and Kuya Kurt Tagalog are my most favorite American Vlogger, you two LOVE my country so much and i appreciate it. And in return...I watch the intire Ads that plays on your videos.... Thanks you for Loving our country Philippines.🥰🥰🥰
My new favorite channel. Period.
Comma, me too, Period! Char 😂
BGC Philippines is also your home Brian.
You are always welcome.
Brian your personality is really aligned with the Filipino culture. A subscriber here in Alberta Canada. Happy New Year😊😊
Hello from Cebu! Couldn't agree with you more.
Thank you Brian for loving my country
Lol
Thank you for loving my beautiful country and my beautiful kababayans.Watching from Toronto.
I’m glad you love the Philippines. I’ve lived most of my life here in NY, but every time I go the Philippines I always feel that I have come home.
you are.. in philippines, you are home.
Love it, you say“ embrace the contrast “
Thanks for loving my country, warts all!
Thanks Brian for this content...proud to be a Pilipino.❤❤❤
Amazing Brian. I like how you compare America to Philippines hahaha.. Lovely and full of humor which is true. ❤😂
Thanks Brian for promoting our beloved country Philippines, we are so happy to see tourist to visit Philippines, thanks and god blessed.
That’s an honest non-biased opinion, thank you for loving the Philippines! Hope you find your lifetime partner there.
Please stop the partner stuff. Get married or wait until you do. The Bible is right and true and well advised to follow. Think about the consequences.
i agree with u 💯…i lived in the bay area and it sucks..not safe anymore. Going home soon to Philippines for good…🙏🏼
That's correct bro. it's not safe anymore why?
And I still hope to visit US again 😊
On the self absorbed thing or being in your own world, intent on your mobile phones, tablet or yourself, I fear that some generation or group or a portion of the population are getting to that point already.
Sir Brian thanks for the compliments...filipinos are looking forward for your come back...dont stay too long we will miss you...
Hope to see you in our country when me & my hubby retire 4 years from now
Thank you Brian, just subscribed! Thank you for your comments about the Philippines! I am from a city in Mindanao!
Thank you, Brian. I love your oral essays.
Welcome back home,I was in the Philippines the whole of November and was hoping to see you on the street of BGC with no success
Thanks for posting…. I watched you live in BGC… This is a fantastic contrast video. I’m preparing to go to BGC and Makati.
good family time ...
I love riding the jeepneys to go to palengke or anywhere, I don't need to think where should I park. 😂😊

Merry Christmas Brian! From the Philippines.
Thank you Brian ... I came back in phils for almost 20 years ..as of now I'm enjoying the vibes here in phils
A man of culture
I heard (from taxi drivers so don't quote me) that since bgc only has a few roads going in and out.. If something happens they get reported and they close down the exits if needed (maybe a checkpoint or something?)
I do t know if that is true.. But even just for reputation that's another reason for bgc being a safe place
So proud of you being there are live positively.Take care! In my country back home it’s less stressful…
thank you for appreciating our country and its people. 😊
I'm back in the US as well and Xmas here is sombering. Can't wait to go back in June! God bless you all 😇❤️🙏
I used to dream America once, actually for us Filipinos it's the land of opportunity, land of milk and honey.
I appreciate your life journey. Keep fighting the good fight.😊
Enjoy your time with your family while you’re there. Merry Christmas. Philippines and your family here are waiting in the New Year! 🎄🧨🍻😊
I salute you and thank you so much 🥰🫶👍
I love your channel already, the first time I watch.
Thanks u so much bro for loving phils.
I admire u always saying good vibes to my homeland Pinas! Thank you and you are always welcome to come back here. I miss ur blog scrolling around BGC. Happy Holiday 🎉
Happy new year Brian 🎉 thank you for your appreciation for our country I hope you stay here in the Philippines forever and you will have you residency and not going back and forth , God bless you 🙏 😊
Happy new year Kuya Brian. May God bless you more. I'm glad you like the Philippines!
Take care
Great podcast! Thank you for sharing.
Very true! Honest Opinions! Love it!❤
