  • How I now can cut 2000 straps with perfectly square ends in a few hours. In the past I have cut these 150 mm long strips by hand but the latest order for them for 2000 made me think to find a quicker and easier way. The clicker press could be used but could not quickly be used to do multiple cuts at a time so this old rivet press came to mind. I wanted to see if I could make it work with a strip of clicker knife blade that I re purposed from a old knife I no longer used. I first lathed down a piece of 25mm metal to fit up into the press and cut a slot hole in it to fit the knife blade. At the time of making this video I had not welded the blade into place but for testing purposes it confirmed it would work as I wanted it to. The base is a strip of HDPE plastic I had at hand and the back fence and stop are just glued down leather strips at this stage. So far I have cut over 1000 pieces and it is working very well.
