  • Josh Chrenko, founder of Achigan Brand hosted me on his jet boat on the Muskegon River in Michigan, ahead of the ‪@KayakAdventureSeries‬ event. He had 12 fish in the boat with a nose hooked fluke before I got my first one to bite. So I put the camera in his hands and let him coach me through the rigging and presentation until I started catching them using his technique and rigging.

So hard to believe that you are not well versed in summer sight fluke fishing at this time. We have been fluking here in western Pa. for at least the past 15 years right after the fluke came out that replaced the banjo minnow. Seems like it would be a staple for most smallie fisherman at his point. You are at a great advantage by fishing with so many different individuals in your travels that show you how others catch fish and to post on here. Love the channel!

I use a lot of paddle tail swim baits in heavy current with a heighted hook for smallmouth. throw it up stream and bounce/jig it at an angle when the current picks it up! River 2 sea D walkers & 6th sense devine swim baits with a berkley 3/0 swimbait hook, Gotta get the hooks with the spring to put your swimbait on or youll go through them like crazy, Then all you do is rig it up through the back of the swimbait from bottom to top & you can even tuck the hook point in so its weedless. I use a lot of flukes too but it seems the weighed paddle tails catch more fish because they get close to the bottom.

Nice thanks for sharing! Tuesday morning the Whitehall / Muskegon area got blasted with straight line winds & a massive thunderstorm. Luckily it wasn't during the Electric Forest music festival (campers). It's been several days without power and hopefully I get it back tonight. Big trees are down everywhere.
Certain days, I can catch 25 - 50 dinks around those rock pilings. It's a fun river!
Another old school way to fish a fluke (Case SSS) is to hook the fluke on it's side 1.5" - 2" down (almost the center of the side). When you twitch the fluke, it's head points up river. You can do micro twitches and keep that fluke in a spot longer and anytime you can dead stick it.
Great video. I love the questions, and getting other people's perspectives. There's a million ways to catch a bass.

Awesome weightless rig! I use same rig. The tip I got came from Tactical Bassin. Use a big corkscrew centering pin, and bury into the nose of the fluke so the eye is in the plastic. Then take that 2/0 finesse hook and put it through plastic and the eye of the pin. But this way is better I think. Why over complicate it? 🙌 Awesome video. Achigan is cool af! # smalliegames

I’ve tried the center pin thing. Definitely helps, but it’s kind of a pain to prep. I have some other stuff in the works that should make this rig much more durable. I’ll make sure to have Jeff do a follow up video when I get it dialed in

I also use a small barrel swivel to connect main line and fluro leader. This stops line twist.

Now… add a second fluke to that rig and catch two smallies at once. When they’re hunting in wolf packs at this time of year the double fluke rig slays. High maintenance, but getting two at once is a treat!!

Somebody had A TUBE tied on a rod on the fore deck ---- i would have given that some aqua time :) Zman's Mulletron (loose body) with it's Huddleston tail probably would have gotten slurped as well. I am in NE Tennessee and going to experiment with the Mulletron for Hybrid's, Striper, and Trout.
