Man, if I had some extra money laying around, and a place to store it for the winter here in Estonia, that e32 7-series would be a dream. I just love the look of e32 and e34. Had an e34 525i couple of years ago. Loved that car.

The drive shaft is a free recall at the dealership. They change it without the need of full history or owner history. I have changed it for my e71 in Romania. Same for front airbags, free recall
Thanks! I'm aware. I checked with BMW, and there are no open recalls for my X5. In any case, a new original driveshaft doesn't solve the issue as the splines are still too short.

I love project Castellon. Cute thing with a special colour that sets it apart. I really enjoyed seeing you tinker with that old school engineering. Hearing it run you can also tell it just wants to be put back on the road. In a way it's also a reminder of the legendary BMWs we haven't had on the channel yet... like the E28 or E24.

If you have trouble getting the car registered, here in the Netherlands it's much simpler. If you have a bill of sale and the vin checks out, you're pretty much ready to go. You can register it and then import into Germany.

Seeing project Castellon, i love that car, i had to come back and see it fired up one more time. The color is almost the same shade as my first car, a 1973 Ford Maverick lol, but your first car kinda has a small space, especially if you had to work and pay for it as a teen. 1 Minute in, already loving the channel plans. Please keep up with your Standard, the perfection you put into every car. Thats what makes you stand out, as long as it keeps you happy pf course😄
X5 is a perfect towing car imo. Its very high tow weight and comfortable. I would for sure go down that route. Also the license for towing is pretty simple if its similar to what i did in Norway. Just 3 classes with a trailer, some practice on backing up, and a course in loading and securing cargo. think i spent around 500 euros on it in total. Get a proper trailer and then you are 100% self sufficient.
Perfect, but not with 4.8L petrol engine. It wastes fuel like it's for free. M57 powered X5 would be more like it. All the torque you need, and it would consume less fuel than 4.8i consumes even without a trailer hooked on it.
It's not that simple in Germany, you need the BE Drivers License Addon to pull up to 7t in total. And this will cost you about 1k€, if you pass at 1st try.
I’m really looking forward to project Castellón! In the late 80’s I owned a ‘82 323i with alpina rims! I should have never sold it! My all time favorite car. I will be glued to the screen when you start!
yeah i dont get why people whine about content YOU want to make. I found maseratti very interesting. It's what YOU want to do and we are just passengers on board. YOU are entertaining in the first place
The issue you are facing with the M3 E92 seats (and the M5 E39 ones, most likely) is that they are the electronically adjustable model. They sit higher because of the electric motors and thus you would only need to find the manual version of the same exact seat for it to seat lower! :)
Thank you for this 2nd channel where you can just do what you want, not having to worry about 100% perfection or clicks. With you it is never less than 95% perfect anyway, no matter what you do or how little effort you spend. Having that said, indeed I am afraid that project Castillon might not generate the clicks than an E60 M5, but I am very happy to hear that you have plans to continue that one. Especially my father keeps asking me if there has been any new episode on that one. So thank you for also for doing all this not only for the clicks but also for us ❤ Greetings from Bavaria
Sreten, the man that ignited the spark that made me buy a 1997 520i Touring. If I was allowed to be impolite, I'd have some choice words for convincing me to get an oil leak on wheels. Given that I'm only allowed to be polite, I will say that I absolute adore it and it's a treat to drive. Thank you, Sreten.
Yeah. He never really showed much passion for that car. Repetitive content? The e32 was there before the e31! With a 1 Million views episode. The only problem with that 750iL e32 is that he has no passion for it. Not the time, had he liked it he wouldnt have wasted on the absurd maserati!
I had the same thought about the e92 m3 seats, it feels like you are sitting on a throne in the car. It kills the clutch feel for me. I went the OEM route and did the F82 M4 seat conversion, and they are absolutely awesome. Changed the entire look and feel of the interior.
Old school or “classic” cars will always bring the views! Especially older BMW’s such as e31 e34 e30 and others! I myself have a e34 540i and e46 330xi wagon! I’ll definitely be watching those!
Yep the e32 indeed had very good feedback with episodes coming up to 1 Million views but... he says it is repetitive content, and it was there before the e31. And there had been 3 prior e31s (I like the e31 but to make things clear) he doest have any passion for the poor 750iL e32. If he had such would he be wasting time he claims not to have on the absurd maserati? And money as well! Abandoning this project has no other point than that sadlly, and its a major step behind for those of us that arrived to this channel because we admired how this man transmited the passion for how the 80s and 90s bmws were built. Hope he changes hus mind but I dont think it will happen now he has raised to different levels and prefers to invest money on the more modern thurds.
It does hurt a little bit that project Karlsruhe has to go...it became one of my favorites. But very understandable. Hope that someone with the same passion will put it back on the road!
Maybe my age is showing but i've always had project Castellon as my favorite of yours, and i can´t wait to see it back! Even now i feel like going back to watch you bring that dead engine back to life!
Like the + format. Just a note. Look into proper cage padding if you drive without a helmet because the cage is really effective at cracking your skull if you’re not strapped in hard , in minor impacts. Also harnesses on the street get old really fast.
Fondly remember my 1981 323i "Fjord-metallic" light blue, with mandatory BBS front spoiler, Recaro seats and the pretty 3 spoke steering wheel. The previous owner and builder of the car made a lot of "OEM plus" changes. Close ratio dogleg 5 speed gearbox (with syncro on reverse, so it wasn't stock). 325iX clutch (stronger and bolts right in apparently). Some BMW hotter cam (tho there's a chance it was a Shrick cam) combined with slightly tuned injection and unknown cast headers from some model with better flow. Topped with a 2x2 inch custom stainless exhaust system that made it sound -exactly- like a tuned Porsche 911, it was uncanny. You could not tell it was a straight 6 from the exhaust note! Rode on 205/50/15 Toyo semi slicks (sometimes they lasted several weeks!) on BBS X spoke wheels. Springs and shocks were some Bilstein rally variant that only lowered the car by a few centimeters. Which was good cause I regularly jumped the car on some roads around here, not violent jumps but still a test of the suspension. I retrofitted a power steering rack, and the damn thing was still 4 turns between locks...... Anyways the result was slightly better acceleration then the 325i's and a higher top-speed, 230+ Km/h on the speedo. This was back in the "stupid" days and we did a lot of city to city races, basically top speed for 40-60 Km's then back. Luckily we all survived, tho quite a few cars did pay the ultimate price.
Ive been watching back the old videos the last week, and was wondering when a update comes! Perfect timing!! All in for more random content here, keep it cooming🤩
Great video.... RE the hazards on the E21 - they all do it. Mine did it. In the meantime you can fold a piece of paper up and jam it around the switch. The issue is the switch won't stay in so the hazards keep going off!
I just adore the m5’s, if i ever have the money to buy a estate m5 v10 i will. Second thing, i loove estates, its just such a nice line for a car and had space to come with it. Dring 250 on the autobahn with 3 friends, skis in the middle and the point is proven why it is a good idea
Hi, Good video as usual, great. Just want to mention that I agree on your comment about the M5 E39, all the journalists agree on the E39 also that it may be the purest of all the M5, except maybe that there's another one, also a manual. I got one of the 577 M5 F10 with manual transmission from Uncle Sam, right now it makes 631,2@6317rpm and 801,6NM@2709rpm on the rollers. On the Bahn it's so comfortable and stable but at the same time softly violent.
40:52 Reverse hoods are very cool, the only problem is that I fear in the case of a head on collision the hood might not crumple with the front end and go straight to the cabin, because it's mounted in the front and the locker is on the back, so the locker might break, not holding the hood to crumple properly.
Don't sell E32!! fix it please! There is not much content on youtube that containt fix E32 with your approach.. it's beutiful and classic BMW,i would loove to see it restored to former glory, i say that, because you and your videos keep me in sane mood.I'm from Ukraine, and there is too much stress and shit, because of war, Your videos like thereapy to me,best of luck to you and your work, keep going) Cheers from Ukraine.)😉

Love your videos Sreten so no issues with 3 hrs video or however long it gets . . Just divide it into parts if necessary! Love everything you do just so you know!! Keep up the great work & appreciate all your hard work!! Vielen dank fuer alles von einem Schweizer fan in Australien! 💚😍🙏🚗
There was absolutely nothing wrong with this video. It was raw and untamed, keep them coming. Old school wrenching would be refreshing to say the least.
@M539Plus My e21 had the same issue with hazards. Just randomly one day they started flashing and I could not get it to shut off normally. What I was able to do was if I pushed the hazard button partly, the lights would stop flashing. So, I just jammed a toothpick in there to get it to stay in the right position. Ultimately ended up replacing the switch with genuine BMW but even that took some time to get. Be wary of the aftermarket ones. They proved junk to me.
If you do end up needing to replace Project Cologne's motor, take a look at the N52B30. Block is lighter than the M54, has more power in stock form, and with a simple exhaust flange replacement, the S54 headers will bolt right up.
Personally, I can’t wait for the E21 content! It would be a change from the same ol’ same ol’ modern content where most of it is plug and play. Old school spannering Sreten! Kudos to you!😄👌👍
Regarding the driveshaft on your X5, there is an Technical Service Bulletin for that one for certain vin-numbers. Check with BMW dealer you may get a new one for free!
Funny enough, I was linked to your channel in 2020 because we had matching e46 grey green metallic tourings! I ended up doing the full e46 m3 drivetrain swap on mine and completed the BAR (think TUV) legalization in California. I ended up having to sell the car and now it lives a few miles away from Jason Camisa's Dojo in Marin. Although it might take longer to source, I'd wait and do the s54 swap, it was glorious and you won't regret it :)
Thanks, interesting update, alot going on! S54 itbs on M54B30 shift the peak power >7k. M54 has harmonic vibrations above 7k, theres an ATI damper (expensive) and the hydraulic lifters can't take more then 7.2 or 7.5k according several forum resources. For the costs of itbs, damper and solid lifters, why not go S54? The S54 is rly good engineered to take up these flaws of the M54. Maybe intake manifold upgrade, M50, N54? E85, bigger TB, oversized valves, ...
honestly man, i wouldn't worry about how a video or project is gonna perform rather enjoy it, as a veteran of the channel who has religiously watched every one of your videos since practically the beginning, i can say the thing i enjoy the most is watching you enjoy every project at its fullest (also the alpina struggle was kinda hilarious ngl) no matter if it's an old or new car, keep doing your thing, you're the best automotive channel on youtube by far
As an E39 M5 owner, I really hope that you get to make some videos on project Hovde (?). I'd love to see timing chain guides, rod bearings, VANOS, and just see all the things I need to do on mine in my condo build parking lot. Please, I need to see this!
@25:50 Have you considered modifying a ZF 8 speed (for the Alpina) to behave or function as a manual? I forget what is all involved but the conversion that I seen allowed the ZF 8 speed to act like a traditional automatic transmission in normal "Drive" mode, act like a sequential in Sport/Manual shift mode as well as see clutch switch inputs to simulate manual clutch operation. Can drop a link if you're curious. Enjoying the channels and project progress for the last 4 years or so here. Keep it up!

Fantastic addition to the channel, loved it. So glad that someone other than me complains about the E39 M5 seats, I agree, they suck, literally ALL the other seats in an E39 are great even the base ones. I'm a shorty at 175 cm and I too feel like I sit on top of my M5 rather than in it.
I totally agree about the seat height of the M3. I'm 6ft1 and I feel too big in mine, my head is nearly touching the roof. I'd love to find a solution to lower the OE seats.
I love the content man, i actually bought an e39 525i 2002 special edition just because of your videos :) Something I didn't know that existed was the lumbar support that comes with some seats since I have both lumbar support with air bags which is nuts and heated seats, I plan to refresh the bushings and slap a bigger brake kit onto it since the brakes look kinda small, plus rust repair, anyhoo thank you boss man for the videos, they don't go unappreciated 🙏🙏
Apparently you can use teflon tape with poly bushes to avoid having to ever lubricate them. Some people state that theyve ran teflon tape for years and zero squicks and it doesnt wear.
stretenn, thanks for real, i have been watching you for years(i dont even know how many tbh) and you made me buy my first car two years ago which is an 89 example, bmw e34 530i that i daily drive! Pretty nuts to me, that car is 35 years old, and I am 20, its almost double my age, yet it is such such a great car, by far the best car i have ever driven, its so quiet, at the same time pretty fast to my standarts(m30 torque) and you made me fall in love to death with these machines, guess what, I also did everything myself to keep it in order, I have pulled almost everything off that car and back on, and truly I have no regrets, thanks for that chance for real. Although I am probably poorer than I would be without it xd, but thats totally fine, it will only motivate me more to finish my course and land a job that lets me dump more money into this xdd. Big hug my friend ;)

Does this mean he'll acquire a machine powered by the devil's juice that isn't a heater? 🤔
And this will cost you about 1k€, if you pass at 1st try.
x5 should be diesel
So is it possible to get the correct drive shaft so the X5 is not just rear wheel drive? Or have one made?
So thank you for also for doing all this not only for the clicks but also for us ❤
Greetings from Bavaria
Sreten, the man that ignited the spark that made me buy a 1997 520i Touring. If I was allowed to be impolite, I'd have some choice words for convincing me to get an oil leak on wheels. Given that I'm only allowed to be polite, I will say that I absolute adore it and it's a treat to drive. Thank you, Sreten.
Sooo sorry to hear about E32. I was really looking forward to see E32 or E34 on channel
Yeah. He never really showed much passion for that car. Repetitive content? The e32 was there before the e31! With a 1 Million views episode. The only problem with that 750iL e32 is that he has no passion for it. Not the time, had he liked it he wouldnt have wasted on the absurd maserati!
@ well it’s probably for the best. He shouldn’t force himself to do something he doesn’t want to. But it’s missed opportunity
Yes! Bolt a big fat tow hitch on that X5 and put some of the 'Utility' back in SUV.
I'm so glad that you are holding on to your E21! I have an '81 323i which is very rare here in the states. Can't wait for the E21 episodes!
👏👏👏 May I vote in favor of the 323i please??? 👍👍👍
I agree, I think older bmw examples should be shown more on the channels, always a pleasure watching the videos my favorite content to watch 👌
Nice update. I'd put the E21 ahead of some of the other stuff...
Love the E21 I grow up in that car. 😊
Like the + format. Just a note. Look into proper cage padding if you drive without a helmet because the cage is really effective at cracking your skull if you’re not strapped in hard , in minor impacts. Also harnesses on the street get old really fast.
Any Swedes here longing for project Skövde?
great work with another chanel Sreten!
I would watch a 3 hour video 🙏. The content is so engaging that the time flies by.
I just adore the m5’s, if i ever have the money to buy a estate m5 v10 i will. Second thing, i loove estates, its just such a nice line for a car and had space to come with it. Dring 250 on the autobahn with 3 friends, skis in the middle and the point is proven why it is a good idea
What?! A new channel and a livery update? We are so blessed!🥰🥰🥰
Hi,
Good video as usual, great.
I’m SO glad the E21 is making a comeback!! Been waiting for 2 years for it!
Subscribed before even watching this first M539Plus video. You‘re the best Streten!❤

I bought same X5 4.8i N62 because of your videos and I love it! mine is in monaco blue however, best colour! I actually sold my 4 series that was much much younger, and I sitill prefer my X5 :) I also want to fit tow hook for our caravan trips, so definitely will watch your videos on it.
A e46 m3-body touring (getting the rear „wide“ body panels from the coupe and front m3 bodypanels) would be cool for your trcktool!
I'm most excited to see a new 323i video ;-)
Project Castellon ❤
@M539Plus My e21 had the same issue with hazards. Just randomly one day they started flashing and I could not get it to shut off normally. What I was able to do was if I pushed the hazard button partly, the lights would stop flashing. So, I just jammed a toothpick in there to get it to stay in the right position. Ultimately ended up replacing the switch with genuine BMW but even that took some time to get. Be wary of the aftermarket ones. They proved junk to me.
Missed the opportunity to name the channel M539 LCI
😂😂😂😂
M539TU
So good 😂😂😂
It was on my list, but ultimately, M539+ made more sense. LCI implies something new, better, bigger... and that ain't the purpose of this channel. :D
M539 AMG
If you do end up needing to replace Project Cologne's motor, take a look at the N52B30. Block is lighter than the M54, has more power in stock form, and with a simple exhaust flange replacement, the S54 headers will bolt right up.
3 hours long video is what we need!!!
Personally, I can’t wait for the E21 content! It would be a change from the same ol’ same ol’ modern content where most of it is plug and play.
Old school spannering Sreten! Kudos to you!😄👌👍
I'm with you on SUV's, give me an estate car every time.
Regarding the driveshaft on your X5, there is an Technical Service Bulletin for that one for certain vin-numbers. Check with BMW dealer you may get a new one for free!
YES!!! More content, great!!! I can't wait for the next episode!
PLZ, do the E39 M5 Skövde ASASP, I need some guideline :D
Funny enough, I was linked to your channel in 2020 because we had matching e46 grey green metallic tourings! I ended up doing the full e46 m3 drivetrain swap on mine and completed the BAR (think TUV) legalization in California. I ended up having to sell the car and now it lives a few miles away from Jason Camisa's Dojo in Marin. Although it might take longer to source, I'd wait and do the s54 swap, it was glorious and you won't regret it :)
25:00 " perfection and over the top" is what helped your channel grow please don't stop doing that
Definitely won't!
@@M539Restorations thank you, you're my e39 hero
It's easy to say "don't worry how a video will perform" when it's not your finances on the line
Easy for you to say that. These videos are his main source of income and therefore he has to care about how they perform.

Remember to announce your second channel on the main channel as well for the non-Patreon audience 🎊
Keep it up!
“V12, very special” Sreten has bought a McLaren F1. No wonder he needs the money.
I reckon he bought the 850CSi from Jason Camisa
@@zeoriginabearjewzbj7064 doesnt make sense because he is restoring one
my guess is a aston martin
@@flompa7245 could be but they are too expensive for him I guess
@@tiagoreis2906he is restoring an 850i (or ci?). The csi is a completely different beast. Effectively an M8. Camissa did a great video about it on the Hagerty channel.
I am so excited to see E21 episodes. It was always in the back of my mind and I am glad to hear that you are continuing to restore it.
29:23 - Uhmmm, super special and V12 powered? Did you find an E31 Alpina B12??? 👀
E38 L7? Thats also quite rare.
@@iirouussaari that's an another good guess
Guys, he obviously bought a McLaren F1.
@@peterborak3695 definitely, last one sold for over 20 mil $ in 2021, probably he sold some part of Frankfurt center
Good luck sreten
Fan from kuwait 👏🏻
I actually prefer the older stuff.
Is it only me or I enjoy this channel as much of not even more than the other one😍? love thisss!
Oh my God, a raffle for the E39 M5?!?!? I pray and hope to GOD that you can manage to pull that off, it is my absolute dream car, next to the M3 E92 and I would kill to enter and win!! Also, congrats on the new channel, Sreten! Looking forward for even more of your content!
at this rate youll get your 100k plate in no time. Congrats buddy!!
Believe it or not, this type of content is still as entertaining as the main channel! Still thinking of buying a M539 hoodie, someone persuade me please :)
buy it bro, he needs the money !!!
I've bought multiple T-shirts and Hoodies from his merch store, it's nice quality and I've been very happy with the purchases. Also it is the easiest way to support the work he does. SEND IT!
Regarding the squeaky sway bar bushings. Wrap the sway bar in teflon tape. The bushings will last a much, much longer time before squeaking!
I love the content man, i actually bought an e39 525i 2002 special edition just because of your videos :)
Something I didn't know that existed was the lumbar support that comes with some seats since I have both lumbar support with air bags which is nuts and heated seats, I plan to refresh the bushings and slap a bigger brake kit onto it since the brakes look kinda small, plus rust repair, anyhoo thank you boss man for the videos, they don't go unappreciated 🙏🙏
Apparently you can use teflon tape with poly bushes to avoid having to ever lubricate them. Some people state that theyve ran teflon tape for years and zero squicks and it doesnt wear.
Another channel yes, you are so talented and funny, your content is always great. Made me happy twice today with jacked up new knee. G-d bless.
stretenn, thanks for real, i have been watching you for years(i dont even know how many tbh) and you made me buy my first car two years ago which is an 89 example, bmw e34 530i that i daily drive!
I love all your videos and the „older stuff“ of course as well! You rock Streten!😊
You and Alex (lsc) are exactly the same, out of control perfectionists😄
Me encanta esta idea Sreten! Saludos desde Argentina!
I for one have been waiting for the e21 project as an avid lover of 2002s and e28s i crave for you to work on older BMWs!
👌Your efforts are amazing, and I've been following you for three years now, admiring all your work. I wish you success with your new channel as well. But my dear friend, please don’t forget to make time for yourself and your family, and take care of your health. I, like the other followers here, share your excitement and love for cars with all my heart. And I must confess, I’m an Audi guy😁, and at the age of 35, I’m already looking for a second car, an M2, and it’s all because of you😂hahaha. Sending lots of love and greetings to you from a small town 40 km away from Frankfurt.👋🥳
