      HI New Mexico Outdoor Sports Guide!! Thanks for stopping by!! Whenever I pull out the Anafi I am always blow away by what it can do. It hands down has some of the best features I have ever seen on a drone! I really hope Parrot keeps adding useful features!!

    This just in! Parrot Released an update today for the Anafi. Some of the features this update includes are 2.7k resolution at 24, 25, and 30 fps. Adjustable RTH altitude, photo bracketing, and adjust the saturation, contrast, and sharpness if the natural picture profile.

    I enjoyed your tutorial on the Anafi as your explanation was very in-depth and easy to understand. My question is how do you transfer your photos and videos to the gallery on the Freeflight 6 app. I have the iPhone 8 Plus is that why as you only said iPhone 6 in your video? Hoping that the video is almost a year ago.

      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Fred! Thank you very much! I use an Iphone 8 plus as well and to transfer the media to the gallery in the app you have to download them to your device. With the drone connected, press the SD card icon on the top of the screen, then select the media you want to download, then press download. Once the media is downloaded, it will then display in the "local" folder in the app. You can then move then to your iphone photo album if you would like. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Hey snakemanstu! Thanks for stopping by! I also did a video comparing the Mavic Air and Anafi if your interested. ruclips.net/video/NZkfF0oHyPI/видео.html . So I have DJI drones and non-DJI drones, LOL. I really like the DJI drones but I am not a fan of the Air. At the price point of the Air I think the Anafi is better option. The the flight time and noise are really big issues with the Air. When I was testing the Air I would average 15-19 min where the Anafi consistently gets 25. Thats a big difference. The Air is also REALLY Loud so if your trying to be low key when flying this is going to be an issue. The Anafi is quietest drone on the market right now. Both are really great drones, the cameras are pretty even as far as quality goes. If your a die hard DJI fan then obviously go with the air because the interface on the Anafi is very different but still very good IMO. I created a playlist for the Anafi as well if your interested. ruclips.net/p/PLQbUw6FXgy7Mt7Ioiw6kyXy1wPwWjdu2e

      HI K.K. TSANG!! THanks for stopping by!! Im prob not going to get the FPV pack but I am going to do a review on the firmware update. From what I can tell the Anafi FPV is the same drone in an updated body, same body as the Thermal from appearance, with the addition of the VR googles. The app will work without Parrots goggles, but their goggles may have a few extra buttons that interact with the app. But all the FPV features work on the original Anafi and its surprisingly very good! I had a chance to play around with it yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised!!

    great review - can you give a long term summary of how the drone has performed over the last year since you first bought it?

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  5 лет назад +2

      HI John!! I would give this drone a stellar rating and it has only become better over the year. Parrot has put out a number of updates that only made the drone better. I can honestly say the Anafi flies more than my Mavic 2 Pro purely due to noise level and NFZ issues. I have a 107 and get authorizations frequently and unlocking the Mavic 2 is a constant hassle, along with the altitude restrictions DJI puts in place on NFZ areas which does not aline with the FAA altitude restrictions. If the Anafi had the same camera and range as the Mavic 2, The Mavic 2 would never fly and I would prob not fly DJI ever again. Here is my unicorn drone- App layout and camera features of the Anafi, noise level and flight time of the Anafi, camera of the Mavic 2 Pro or P4P. I also really like how the Mavic Air folds up but you cant beat the Anafi for quick deployment.

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад

      Hi festivaltv holland !! Thanks for stopping by! If you update the app to version 6.1.1 on apple and android, this will allow you set a Rth height. The app should also automatically change to the correct units based on your location. If it has not done so, I would try to uninstall the app and then reinstall it with the gps turned on, on your device. The update also requires a firmware update on the drone and remote. You cannot manually change the units at this time, Parrot may include that on a future update. Hope this helps!

    I'd be really interested in your view of how it compare to a second hand mavic pro? There's quite a few at a similar price range to a new anafi and i am attracted to the longer range of the pro. Thanks for the video

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  5 лет назад +1

      HI Oliver!! Thanks for stopping by!! This is an easy one for me because I have flown both A LOT and edited a lot of video from both. The Anafi is a better deal all the way around, with the exception of range. Much better camera, no NFZ, longer flight time, much less noise and has much more useful camera features that really help getting great shots. The only reason I would recommend the Mavic pro is for the obstacle avoidance if that is a feature your interested in and range. The occusync is really nice and I think you can push out to 5 or 6 miles with the Mavic Pro. So bottom line, if your a guy that likes to just send the drone out long range than the Mavic pro is going to be much better. If your more interested in getting much better image quality with some of the best camera features, then go with the Anafi. I personally never fly past 1,500- 2,000 feet but I know people that fly out to 4 miles. Technically you should not fly that far without spotters at different intervals along your flight path bc you cant really see these drones past 2,000 feet therefore you do not have visual line of sight, but thats a controversial topic. Hope this helps. LOL

The only trouble i had with cards was when I first got the Anafi back in August and could not use a new SD card. • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Bill thanks for stopping by! The y’all axis on any drone will be the most prone to shakes and jitters. When panning, objects in the background are moving much faster than objects in the foreground so it’s most noticeable with objects in the background.To avoid this, slow the yall rate down to as slow as possible, avoid a high shutter speed if possible. If you must pan at a faster rate switch to high frame rate with 1080@60 FPS. This will help with jitters when panning. I personally fly in straight lines when filming and try to avoid pans. I also use cameraman a lot to get nice horizontal parallax but I fly very slow.

    Great video Ethan, is it possible to fly this drone with an old cell phone or tablet that does no longer have data access, but can be updated with wifi? Can maps be saved for use without data? Can other free map apps be used other than Google maps to use with this drone?

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад

      Hi Josh! Yes you can use a device that does not have cellular data. Yes the updates can be done through WiFi. If you will be using flight modes that use a map, they have to be downloaded prior to use each time you take the Anafi out. I’m not sure how long it keeps the map downloaded. I know in the past if I downloaded a map it would be gone the following week. Could also be that I did not save a flight plan as well. Now I have not tried this in a while so they may have fixed that with an update. To my knowledge you can only use the map they provide, and I’m not sure if it’s a google map bc it does not zoom in as far as you can with google.

    Hi, what settings do I have to change if I want to fly indoors ? I can’t figure it out or is it smart enough to do it automatically? Thanks for uploading this!

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад +2

      HI Ghosttjr2!! Thanks for Stopping By!! The Anafi will automatically use the ground sensors when there is no GPS. So you can fly indoors without using any setting changes. A word of caution, depending on light and texture of the floor, the Anafi can drift a bit so be careful and be ready to make adjustments. I recommend flying in film mode with the controls turned down. Remember, no obstacle avoidance and no prop guards! Camera man should work also without GPS. If you look at the end of the Anafi PLOG Color grade video I just posted, there is a shot that was done indoors using the camera man feature.

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад

      Hi Ramon! You are correct, flying indoors is very risky! Almost all of my drone crashes were indoors! Lol. The Anafi should not rise and hit the ceiling unless you push up on the stick or you fly over something that is elevated, table, chair. The Anafi will increase height to compensate. Also if the optical flow sensor cannot see the floor well the Anafi will drift quite a bit. Flying indoors is dangerous even for the drone with sensors. I have crashed the Spark and Mavic 2 flying indoors. Lol Same thing for them, if the optical flow camera cannot see the floor, they will drift, AND if the sensors are on, and they detect something, they will not let you correct and they drift into the wall. So if I want to fly one of those drones inside, the sensors are Off! Works out much better.

      Hi Ghosttjr2 , I did a lot of testing yesterday and the follow me modes seemed to work very well. Track will fall behind the subject and follow from behind. Lock is the same way it was originally. The Anafi will keep its position in space while following. So if it’s on your right and you turn around, it will be on your left now. Dynamic will turn with you. If the Anafi is on your right and you make a turn, it will turn with you and stay on your right. I’m trying to wrap up the video on this.

      Ethan Mitchell Thanks ! I tested it too but at greater range and it didn’t work that well, I now charge my Anafi with a Power Delivery charger and usb-c to usb-c, still 1:40 minutes from empty. Looking forward to your review!

    I'm only half way thru your Vid. AWSOME, I've asked DJI to do something like cameraman, That will automatically raise and lower the Gimble during change in elevation. Now on with the Show. Thanks

      HI Robert! Thanks for stopping by! Yes camera man is awesome! To do something like this with DJI you need to use a Active Track mode. My favorite thing about camera man is that you do not need GPS to use it so this opens the doors to getting great shots indoors! I did a really nice Point of interest parallax on a chandelier inside a wedding venue using camera man. Flying indoors needs a lot of precision. I know people are going to argue practice to be a better pilot but what this feature does is allow you to fly with more precision bc the software is taking care of the camera. This would be extremely difficult with anything else. Plus the option to frame your shot is really nice. This is definitely a PRO feature and surprises me that DJI has not made a feature like this. I use cameraman, follow me, and flight plan all the time!

      @@EthanMitchell_RUclips Thanks for the Tip, I wainting for the next generation of Anafi, and of course the P5P. That GEO Fencing is a bummer, especially on paying gigs. I would like to see a clip or review of the Anafi Indoors. Does it hunt or drift indoors? Thanks

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад

      Yes the geo NFZ software on the DJI drones can definitely be a pain but they have made it easier to deal with than in the past, especially in conjunction with AirMap. The Anafi does really well at holding position indoors if it can see the floor, so you need light. I can post that indoor clip for you. I shot it in PLOG which gives a little more latitude for exposure.

      @@EthanMitchell_RUclips Ok, It makes sense that it would be more stable indoors unless the A/C kicked on. Mounting lights onboard could be an option for low light. We now have L.A.N.C.E not sure if I got that right. Clearance from the Tower is no prob.its the GEO Thang. Hopefully we can unlock that and ground sensors in the future. Ttyl8r.

    new subscriber, thanks for this. My ANAFI is on the way. Do you think I can have the Anafi circle around me, low to the ground, gimbal tilted up - with the remote not on my person and a smart phone with App in my pocket? This is so I can make a 360 of myself exercising, hands-free. Thanks much!

      Hi BryTunes !! Thanks for stopping by and the Sub!!! Yes you will be able to do that with some limitations to how close it can be to you ( but you can zoom in) and how close it is to the ground. Also be cautious as no obstacle avoidance. You will want to use the follow me orbit mode, and if you put your phone in your pocket make sure to lock the screen in the app, this feature will pop up when in this mode.

    Hello Ethan,
    Thanks for your in-depth and well presented reviews, by far the best i`ve seen on RUclips.
    Looking into purchasing my first camera drone and the Anafi seems to tick all the boxes in terms of features/flight time/low propeller noise.
    Could you please answer the following questions regarding the Anafi.
    1. When you reviewed the cameraman feature you reported that there was some noticeable head bobbing occurring. Was this issue ever resolved.
    2. When using (smart dronies/cameraman/follow me) modes do you have full control of the resolution, frame rate & manual camera settings(ISO, shutter, WB).
    2. What is the maximum range when using a smart phone only to control the drone. Are there any restrictions on whats modes are available. I`d like to use the Anafi to capture some short clips whilst mountain biking. I imagine it would be difficult to securely mount both the controller and smart phone to my bike with out either of them falling off.
    Thanks in advance

      ColSam458 , thanks for stopping by! If your leaning toward the Anafi it’s a great choice but I would def get a referb one at the $415 price point. I think right now with the Mavic Air 2 at $800, a new Anafi at $700 is a little over priced. With that said I still LOVE my Anafi and is it frequently. I do have a Mavic Air 2 coming next week and plan to make a video comparing it to the Anafi. Now that’s out of the way I can answer your questions- 1. The camera bobble is not as bad as it was but it is still there, esp if your moving fast. 2. Yes you have full control of frame rate, iso, wb, picture profile when using any of the smart modes. 3. I don’t know the range when using the phone only but if I would take a guess I would probably say about 300feet. It’s going to be dependent on the strength your devices WiFi signal. Hope this helps!

      Thanks for your quick reply to my questions Ethan., much appreciated.
      Yes i intend to pick one up second hand and i`ve seen a few around that price. Good to know there`s no in camera restrictions in the autonomous modes.
      The Mavic Air2 looks amazing from all the reviews i`ve seen but can`t really justify the price tag for my first drone. I did consider the original Mavic Air due to the price drops but the shorter flight times and loud propeller noise put me off. I`m sure you`ll be impressed with Air2 though and i look forward to seeing your review of it.
      Just one last thing if you`d be so kind to explain regarding drone footage (not related to the Anafi in particular). With some videos i`ve observed a choppiness/stuttering motion to the footage when the drone is panning or an object is moving through the frame. How can one counter act this to produce smooth motion? Is it down to not following the 180 degree rule? Or not matching the recorded frame rate with the timeline frame rate in ones chosen editing software. Interested to hear your thoughts on this.
      Thanks

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  4 года назад +1

      ColSam458 - Great question!! So if your scene is moving dynamical- like in a pan- with a fast shutter speed, you will see the choppy background. It will get worse with higher shutter speeds. You can use ND filters to bring your shutter down so you can get double your frame rate. This will give motion blur that looks normal. I don’t always stick to this but I do try to get as close as possible. Correct Exposure is more important. If you have to use a higher shutter to get correct exposure just make your moves very smooth and slow- and avoid panning shots. Also you are correct, miss matched frame rates can also do this too. Ideally you want the time line frame rate to match the footage frame rate but most editors can fix it and conform the footage to match.

      @@EthanMitchell_RUclips Understood and thanks for clearing that up Ethan. I think i`ll be adding ND filters to my purchase as well then.

      ColSam458 - yeah ND filters definitely make a difference, I’m partial to the polarized filters. They can really make the footage pop

    Hi, nice video. Can Parrot raise the frame rate to 60 through firmware updates or is it going to have to be a hardware update?

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад

      Hi Okie-Tom! Great question! I don’t believe we will see 60 fps in 4K. When they added 2.7k I was hoping they would have added 60fps but they did not so the Anafi’s processor may not be fast enough to handle the faster frame rate. If the processor is fast enough to handle faster frame rates then they most likely are not adding it so save on battery life. If you notice the last update added a lot of features but nothing that would tax the processor limiting battery life. ( also probably why they have not fixed the gps drift yet) I believe they could and may put out an update adding these features but prob not till the newness wears off where they are not depending on the 25min flight time as a selling point. Just an idea-

      Hi Ethan. What about 120 fps at 1080p? Is this possible or likely on Anafi? Seems like slo-mo advantage goes to the Mavic Air on this one.

    • @EthanMitchell_YouTube
      @EthanMitchell_YouTube  6 лет назад +1

      I think we will see 120fps at 1080 and most likely set up like the Mavic Air where it makes the slow motion for you. They could even put it in the slow motion video mode menu with out the menu getting to cluttered. If the processor can handle 4k at 100mb/sec it should be able to do 120 fps at 1080. I think we will see it if enough people write to Parrot and ask for it.
