sorry i didn’t think it would be interesting to watch! basically because i left the bottom open, i was able to pull the foil out after it was baked 🫶🏻

OHHHH I LOVE HER! Ah! To me when the light shines under her the bumps look like scales and the other uneven bits look like muscle (or fat? I don’t know if fishies have that much chunk?)! She’s beautiful! Wonderful first try at it!

At what point did you remove the aluminum foil??
You probably know this already, but I still want to share this, in case you don't. Did you know you can use Styrofoam (ball or other shape) to wrap the clay around, instead of aluminium foil? It shrinks when baked and you don't have to pick out the foil in the end, and will be a more smooth surface. Good luck!!
Question, doesn't the Styrofoam produce a lot of toxic fumes when heated like that.

tbh i love the bumpy-ness of it!! it gives a wabi-sabi feel to it!! i love the texture when illuminated as well - it looks like scales :)
Even if its not perfectly smooth she looks fantastic! I gasped at when you showed her lit up, the little thickness differences in the body look like the texture of scales so much! especially with the light passing through it.. i love this so much!

When it comes to foil I take my time with working to get it smooth. Yeah its never going to be perfectly smooth but getting it as close as you can does help. I also take small bits of foil to fill in dips.

Ohhh!!! Maxine as a lamp is so beautiful, she looks fantastic and such a great new idea moving forward. I thought how hard it would be to get the foil smooth enough but the texture looked great as you said, it’s a trial and error. Something new learnt yayyyyy 🐨💞🎉

You can cover the foil with masking tape to eliminate some of the bumpiness. You just have to be sure to not cover the bottom where the hole is--otherwise getting the foil out will be tricky.

I wouldn’t have her being smooth, Tammy. It fits right on brand with you and it is absolutely amazing.
I recommend throwing the foil ball into a dryer if you have one or have access to one. It will smoothen out all those edges!

Using foil tape over the rough foil base really helps smooth things out!
AAAHHHH!! It so cute!! Just a tip, you can use a hammer to smooth out the tin foil! The bumps don’t make it look bad at all! It makes it look like a fish scale

I usually never really comment (not the comment type of person), but I literally stopped the clock on work I was doing (I charge by the hour) and came here to comment: THE BUMPS LOOK SOOOO PRETTY UNDER THE LIGHT!!!! don't get rid of the bumps. This got to be the cutest thing you made so far, if that is even possible. My eyes legit misted over when you lit her up.
Cover the foil completely with masking tape, that will make it smoother :)
