  • Andy Quint reviews the BACCH-SP adio, a stereo purifier from Theoretica Applied Physics.
The BACCH-SP adio has an integrated DAC and is one of Theoretica's latest stereo purifiers for audiophile 3D imaging.
Quint talks about how to set up the SP for both speakers and headphone listening, including how to use the included ear microphones and a quick look at the webcam that is also included, as well as its use on tablets like the iPad.

Excellent review Andy... but MSB Technology is actually based in Silicone Valley, California. Perhaps you briefly confused them with MBL, who is from Germany. Cheers!

Hi Andy: I am so new to the Hi-Fi scene, but this was very detailed and really enjoyed it. I've started to educate myself on the terminology and concepts--thanks for helping catapult me along to an advanced degree! I'm curious how profound the three-dimensonality/omni-directional envelopment and resolution is in contrast to omni-directional speakers like the Ohm Walsh's and MBLs. I heard the Ohm Walsh 2000s and they were clearly more unconstrained than dipole audio in terms envelopment (in particular--height), but not as profound as perhaps the hype was intimating, and further they traded off something with respect to tone, clarity and resolution (non-dimension resolution). Have you heard the Ohms or other omni-directional speakers and if so how much of a departure would you say the Bacch-SP is as a listening experience?
    thanks

Looking to start my very first hifi system, with strong favor so far towards: Sonus Farber Lumina III and V, Ohm Walsh 2000. B&W 706 series (S2 and S3) and Totems beat out by SF. I have not yet heard Focals. For integrated amps looking at NAD M10 V2, Rotel integrated with Bluesound streamer, Marantz 40n. Recommendations and tips very welcome, in particular anything that would help with listening volumes around 65-80 db (semi-night time listening). I hear tone control/"loudness" button helps with that Fletcher Muson Curve dynamic.

If you’re interested in some some audio engineering facts (there’s is so much audiophile mis-information out there), I would highly recommend going to:
      -Sanders Sound Systems website
      -Technical White Papers
They’re written in plain English by an audio engineer (Roger Sanders) who isn’t trying to over-hype grossly expensive fads.
      Enjoy the journey!

VERY confused on stereo theory. Stereo is not "signals for the ears," it is the placement of sounds in the room. Binaural is signals for the ears, and the two should not be confused. Interaural crosstalk is NOT "the problem" with stereo, and you do not need this expensive box to correct it.

Excellent explanation of the system, the best I’ve heard.
A complex subject brought down to us simple human beings.
I don’t think I will get to listen to it, but you made me hear the difference 🫶🏻
