The guy playing the Banjo is Troy Gentry. He died in a helicopter crash in 2017. The other guy is Eddie Montgomery, his brother is also a country singer named John Michael Montgomery.
RIP Troy :( Rascal Flatts and Dierks Bentley sang this song at his tribute at the Grand Ol Opry and Eddie came out during the 2nd verse....he still said “me and ol T-Roy will show you around, OUR TOWN BABY!” 🥲
I lived in Lextown for 16 years. I was driving around this area of downtown when they were filming this. Makes me sad now with the passing on Troy. De Sha's, Triangle Park, and Rupp...historical Lexington fixtures.
Never clicked so fast. One of my absolute favorite songs and will always remind me of the place I was born and raised ❤️ Gives a whole new perspective when you hear Troy say “this is where they’re putting me in the ground” 😞
I live in Lexington, KY (where much of this video was actually filmed). It's located about 40 miles northeast of Perryville/Danville area. RIP Troy Gentry.
I live in a super small town. Like literally a square mile and maybe 700 people. This song always make me think of “My Town”. I love my town! Literally live this song. Born and raised, couldn’t wait to leave, left and came right back. I hate that Troy passed, such a huge loss for country music! I may not know these guys, but my heart still aches for Eddie.
I am watching and I am from there. I know most of that scenery by heart. This song 'My Town' which is based on and filmed in between both Troy Gentry's home town and Eddie Montgomery and his also famous country singer brother John Michael Montgomery's hometown. Eddie Montgomery's home town is about 30 mins away from my home 'town' and Troy's hometown was about an hour away from my home town I grew up in. There is one more Montgomery who's an up and coming country star right now, he's Eddie's nephew, Walker Montgomery. I cannot say how much I LOVED this song when it came out and still do but makes me so sad now to listen to it due to Troy Gentry no longer being with us from a tragic and strange accident. I once saw Eddie Montgomery and his wife at a restaurant he owned in Eddie's hometown of Danville Ky once. They were eating and when I saw them I told my husband "Omg, that's Eddie Montgomery" and I knew he didn't like to be bothered for autographs etc especially while he was with family (my niece worked there & told me that part) but on the way out the door my hubby said as we walked past their table couldn't resist to say "hey man I love your music' and he just politely said 'Thanks." He was probably just glad we didn't stop and bother them but he seemed nice about it all. Other than the tragic loss of Troy.....Eddie Montgomery also lost his son Hunter who was only 19 yrs old back around 2015. Been a lot of sadness around this family and band.
Such an incredible music duo. True BFF. Met them several times when they came to my hometown, a small town in the woods. They would go out with the boys to the woods after the concert. From what I was told they never collected a dime, because the festival was to help our little town, and the kids to get scholarships from the school. My class had 11 in the graduating class. Truly wonderful people that have stayed true to their roots. The loss of T-Roy (Troy) was devastating. I can’t imagine what Eddie , and their family and friends have went through. They have so many great ones. I’ll look some more up for your suggestions and add them to the comments.
Great reaction Billy Montgomery Jentry be one of my all-time favorite country music duos and yes we lost Troy Jentry way too soon in that horriable helicopter crash but this duo will always have a special place in my heart and one of the main reasons why this song is one of my all time favorite Montgomery Jentry because the message in the song is that you always had to represent your town especially those small towns that you come from for example Gibbon, Nebraska only has about a 1,000 population for this small town where my parents were raised in that small town and have a lot of great memories visiting my grandparents in that small town
Okay I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out but there was a reference in the song (and probably others) to another great old country song called John Deere Green by Joe Diffie. They talk about a water tower with I love Jenny painted in bright green.
they have a similar one called Where I Come From and there's a line that says "there's a preacher man in a cowboy shirt" I highly doubt we're related, but that describes my grandpa perfectly :)
If you pass through Kentucky and flip over to a country music station at least once every hour and a half this song will be playing and I may not be able to pass that backwards alphabet sobriety test sober but stoned blind drunk I can recite this song word for word. One of the greatest country duos to come from Kentucky and I’m so thankful to have been able to see them perform live on the many occasions I had to go see them and from the bottom of my heart my thoughts and wishes go to his family, friends, and Eddie.
I love this song, Troy Gentry was great, miss him, as far as suggestions go, old hippie by Bellamy brothers is a good series of songs, they sung like 4 continuation to this song and you should react to them all
Saw Eddie Montgomery in concert at a Fort Lewis event and it was so sad hearing songs without Troy. Eddie was getting choked up and it broke my heart. RIP.
TROY GENTRY DIED SEPTEMBER 8TH 2017, HE DIED IN A HELICOPTER CRASH. MY COUSIN EYVONNE WAS A DORM MOTHER AT THE FLIGHT SCHOOL IN GA. AND KNEW THE PILOT.
I love your reaction video you definitely have a positive way. Would love to see you react to Moonshine bandits "Pass me the ammo" another military video that has a hard message.
i will never forget the 5 day concert i went to the day they preformed that night they walked around where people camped and they sat down and had a beer and a burger and bs'ed with us for an hour R.I.P T-Roy so missed and i know you was smiling and watching the tribute to ya at the awards show
Montgomery Gentry are from around Danville Kentucky. About an hour or so away from where I live. They've got a lot of great songs. "Daddy Won't Sell the Farm" "Hillbilly Shoes" "Gone" Troy Gentry passed away in a plane crash.
I hate that the CMAVEVO channel took down the clip from the 2017 CMA's where they did a tribute to Troy and Eddie came back to the stage for the first time
RIP Troy. He was actually scheduled to sing with Eddie at our local county fair when he passed in the accident. I remember Randy Houser took their place and did a nice tribute to Troy. What an amazing group.
RIP Troy Gentry. Absolutely love this song.
Lost such a beloved and talented artist when Troy Gentry died. RIP while singing to the Angels.

I'm not from Perryville, but the concert part was filmed in Triangle Park in Lexington, KY and that's my hometown!
Eddie Montgomery's brother is John Michael
