I should probably do a new one; I think I will assess differently 2 years later. :) But, it's a good sample and when you listen to your own recordings, look at each marker and read what demonstrates it. It's such good practice, plus it will help with the ICF Credentialing Exam to be knowledgeable of the markers.
@@LyssadeHartthanks for the idea, I should listen to a recording of one of my sessions. In case you'd like to try to coach someone from the other side of the world for your coaching demonstration, I volunteer. 😀
@@Icecandy1882 Ok, you're on! I think you know my email and/or we are connected on LinkedIn, do you want to message me? We can set something up that works for our vastly different time zones :)
I am very much appreciating your assortment of videos and the time you take to parcel out which competencies / markers are demonstrated. Currently viewing with an eye on taking the ICF exam (next week!), but will also come back to them for further growth and coaching development. THANK YOU.
Also, if you ever have a coaching related question that you are curious about, let me know, if it's something I can give useful thoughts on, I will do a video. :)
Wow! This was amazing! Thanks for pointing out the PCC Markers. It aids the learning so much! 8:22 & 9:13 & 9:16 - great questions! Check in demo at 16:00 8.1. Mirrors the body language of the client - nice demo! At the end...Competency 8: AWARENESS leads to ACTION leads to ACCOUNTABILITY leads to NEXT STEPS. Say it out loud for yourself....love the closing, too! Thank you, Lyssa!
Your coaching demos with PCC markers are like gems in the internet! For months, I've handpicked just few truly brilliant coaching demos and yours has definitely earned a spot on the list! Such generous content - looking forward for more. Thank you so much Lyssa! PS. I realized I've never commented on any RUclips video, this is my first time! That's how amazed I am. Haha
What a lovely man! And how brave (of you both) to allow this session to be uploaded to YT esp given his reluctance around social media. Enjoyed the Steve Martin reference 🤣. Great example of "Laser-Focused" coaching.
I do love Jeff. He is so generous. And, I think I may have liked the juggling cats more than they were useful to him. I probably have a choice point to just not voice that and stick with the juggling metaphor alone. So, while I enjoyed it, it could have derailed the conversation for the client as they might have stopped to make sense of the statement. In hindsight I probably would have kept it to myself. :)
@@LyssadeHartI think you're overthinking! Most people understand a simple juggling metaphor. You clearly trusted your instincts with this man and it worked out fine.
Hi @kristinebaltaca2288, the metaphors that the coach offers are not as useful, even though we all do it. Listening for the clients metaphor is much more powerful. Their brain lit up to their metaphor. So, if you offer a metaphor, do it very lightly, and what I mean, is without any attachment. That way the client can correct the metaphor.
I really enjoy watching and learning from your videos, but I don't feel you gave your all in this session. I feel like his problem wasn't really solved here. It sounded more like he enjoyed the communication and creative part of work but not the tedious stuff such as socials and emails. However, that's just my interpretation and I could be wrong
Hi @humairaomar8440, Thanks for sharing your perspective. I am not sure that every coaching session is meant to solve a specific problem, but I am not sure you were wrong either. Sometimes, having a coaching conversation that clarifies something for the client can be the solution that shifts the way a person looks at something. Also, people are often more reserved when being recorded. My hope with the video is to show how one might start to think about how their questions align with the PCC Markers. That said, I really appreciate your observations & keep them coming! :)
Thank you for sharing your perspective. That is truly what is cool about your ability to see my coaching. It helps you to make an informed decision. This brings up the point for everyone: do Chemistry Sessions with any coaches you think you want to work with. It is crucial that you resonate. No harm, no foul if you don’t. It’s important to honor what feels true to you because you must feel like the coach cares about you to do real work. Thank you for bringing forward this important point.
"Is there anything else...?" - isn't that a closed question again? There were actually several closed questions... I haven't found this session inspiring for me. I think there was nothing explored really, no smart goal, no specific way forward...
Hello Again, @kristinebaltaca2288, Yes, that is a closed question. And, if we look at the markers for the competencies we see under Evokes Awareness: 7.5 - Coach shares, with no attachment, observations, intuitions, comments, thoughts, or feelings and invites the client’s exploration through verbal or tonal invitation. 7.6 - Coach asks clear, direct, primarily open-ended questions, one at a time, at a pace that allows for thinking, feeling, or reflection by the client. Tonal invitation and primarily open-ended questions, not every question must be open-ended. Also, where is the question leading the client? Only the client can determine if there is anything else, so of closed questions, I still like this one. A closed question like, "Is there anything else?" invites the client to say yes, no, or yes... there is all this other stuff I need to say. Depending on the relationship between the coach and the client, the client will say more. Also, this is a one-off session. I'm not working with the client for months, where a SMART goal might be more useful. It was a demonstration for a course. All that said, I agree; I don't think this was my most inspired coaching session :) but even hearing what you don't like is a way for you to think about what is important to you in your own coaching. Happy Coaching!

I wonder if a coach can offer their own metaphor to a client? And paraphrase everything in different words than the client uses?
