i love it... they show u the space and talk fast... and make sure nearly every screen in immediate view ... if off.... i wonder how many UFO's they track on the daily..... i bet that number would be crazy
I always wondered if they noticed a jumping "star" I saw moving and stopping on a dime back around 1966 when I had young teen aged eagle eyes. It travelled from low on the horizon to almost straight overhead and would go across chunks of the sky and stop several times for a second before it slowly got dimmer and dimmer, as if it was no longer glinting the sun off of it that had set a few hours earlier. From where I was standing in the northeast U.S. this "star" must have been over Canada. If NORAD didn't detect that, they weren't doing their job that night. I wonder how high their radar's can see. They must scan high enough to see ballistic missiles in space, so they must have seen this "jumping star". What do they do when they see stuff like that? What do they do when Ageas cruisers like the USS Princeton sees "tic-tacs" at 80,000 ft. moving at 120 mph? I often wonder.
One time when they let a camera crew in there was a room with a huge tarp hung and they didn't get to go past the tarp. But in another scene there was a flash like in Stargate when someone is fixing to arrive.

I wish canada would hold a poll on large important issues in Canada. Like how much percent of out gdp should be spent on defense, what types of defense canada should invest in, postures in world conflicts, inflation, Canadian border security, canadian immigration and so on. It would help canada do what needs to be done but refuse to do and help give citizens a voice and push the goverment to make Canada the most top country in tje world for defense, living standards, wages, healthcare, median household wages, inflation and so on. Canada and America 1950s and 1960s is the era i want to live in. And the era Canada should return to since everything was better in north American than today. Which is sad means were not only taking steps ahead weve taken steps behind in most sectors in over 70 years 70!
How often do general aviators approach restricted air space on purpose, in order to have a close encounter with a NORAD fighter jet, possibly to brag about it on social media?
That interception out in the middle of nowhere doesn't seem like practical training when the potential target will be in a high traffic area like the Golden Gate Bridge, NYC or Washington DC. But, then again, the Naval exercise off of Long Island didn't work out so well for TWA 800.
I have known about NORAD and their mission since I was 5 years old in 1968. That is the year my dad was stationed there, He was there for 1 tour went over seas for 2 years and then went to train on some new satellite system before being reassigned to Cheyenne mountain. He never got into classified material like the SR71 but He did let us know that they protected the airspace of North America and tracked all objects in earth orbit. I remember the first time my dad and I talked about the SR71 was after they retired the aircraft in the 1990's. That plane was an amazing feat of engineering and Kelly Johnson should be listed among the top 10 aeronautical engineers of all time just for building it!
@@allegramisereri9462 What response are you asking about? They shut down the entire US air space to civil air traffic and then what did you expect? A few years ago, my buddy and I were flying his Mooney from N.J. to North Carolina. We were well east of the Washington D.C. restricted area. The Mooney had a Garmin 530 GPS display that was able to show other air traffic using transponders. After a while, you get used to perceiving how fast the other aircraft are going, just through experience. This was before it was required to have ADS-B. We were up somewhere around 7,500 ft. above sea level when suddenly I noticed another aircraft on the Garmin indicating an altitude about 4,000 ft below us and about 10 miles behind us. The thing that really got my attention was the speed the target was traveling. It was much faster than an airliner. I never saw another airplane go that fast on the Garmin. I joked and told my buddy we were being followed by a UFO. Finally, as the target merged with us, I looked down in front of the right-wing and saw an F-16. As he passed us he made a wide clearing left turn out toward the sea. We were doing nothing wrong and we were not in restricted airspace. He never came near us and if it were not for the Garmin, we might not have even known he was there. I guess even NORAD gets bored sometimes and uses general aviation airplanes for practice.
Pilots are just people (my dad is a Lt. Col f-16 instructor) and they like flying nearby and seeing other planes too, and see how fast they can pass them. It's probably slightly less boring than just flying along in the big huge sky. So it could've been that as well lol.

First of all if a fighter has to get launched your in the wrong 100%. Ive never understood pilots that go fly and are not constantly listening to freq/guard it makes me nervous knowing people are just that careless but we see it all the time. Every incident I’ve had. I was on freq and the center came on and said “your 5miles from a P# turn left/right immediately ” they are very good about warning you well before you enter the restricted space even if you didn’t see the notam. So getting fighters launched you have to be very unsafe on routine basis to get in that situation. - for me it’s a responsibility to monitor freq for every fellow pilot sake. Also we have tons of medevac helicopters that are always on the move and will go to scenes and rx hospitals so if your chances of hitting one are high if you don’t pay attention.
Born at Fitszimmons, grew up in Colorado Springs and worked in Norad,Peterson AFB, Airforce Academy, Falcon (now Shriver) Space Command and Ft.Carson, the blast door and buildings on giant springs in Norad were the coolest things I've seen
And the Stargate and stuff inside the buildings like real life Thor's, right? You don't have to answer that. We know you had to sign a confidentiality agreement and I wouldn't want any harm to come to you. But maybe to the people that are above the law that do that kind of harm.
It's been a joint operation since the beginning. The Canadians were even present when NORAD was told to stand down by Cheney during the 9/11 attacks, which interestingly enough hasn't been commented on. Granted, I've only read down about 60 comments, but seems to me to be a huge elephant in the room. What happened during that massive failure anyway? Rhetorical question BTW. Am throwing that out there for those who refuse to wake up and realize the level of corruption that exists in our government and military command structure.
Growing up on "WarGames", I was left questioning how effective a country's ability to defend itself actually was. But, as a private pilot, I'm glad I was never intercepted for unknowingly doing something stupid.

Today, Russia is interfering in Africa due to the division of the African peoples and their fall under the rule of dictatorship imposed by France's interventions in Africa, which steal the wealth of the African peoples and cause poverty, unemployment and bankruptcy .... Also, we in Tunisia want the United States of America to help the Tunisian people to Qais Saeed was expelled from power and put on trial. We ask the United States of America to help Africa liberate from French interference so that Africa becomes strong in order to fight the Russian enemy alongside the international community
There is also an underground NORAD bunker, that has also moved it's facilities above ground in the 2000s, in my home town of North Bay Ontario. I currently live in the old military housing that housed all the employees of the bunker back in the 60s. Pretty cool history around here!
They have several alternative command and control bunkers. There is Raven Rock and Mount Weather Deep command center and the Pentagon Deep Command center supposedly at over 3000 feet down and able to withstand large hits, and the Canadian Forces North Bay Control Complex which is part of NORAD, and those are just the Command and Control deep bunkers we know about. There are also some communications bunker complexes as the Warrington classified Communication center run by the CIA and the NSA, and the Mount Pony bunker at Culpepper Virginia which is where they have BILLIONS and Billions in US currency stockpiled in case of nuclear war. AND don’t forget the looking glass command and control aircraft always in the air in hardened air liners which can stay in the air, hidden, for many days with air refueling. They can run an entire war from those. And Air Force 1 & 2 which have the same equipment to run a war and air refuel. They are not called looking glass anymore but they are still in the air 24/7. I figure it for every one station we know about there are at least 2 we do not. I know we have logistical bunkers in deep caves all over the US that are full of everything from MREs to tires to computers to blankets. And I am sure they have some bunkers for bulk stationing of combat troops and of course we all know about the Project Greek Island aka The Greenbrier that was a bunker for the Congress until some bunghole of a reporter made it all public.
I was with the 24th NORAD at Malmstrom AFB (Huntress Control) from 1979 to 1983. I then was hired by the FAA and spent 33 years at Fort Worth Center. I have several stories about intercepts but it was great to see it from the video's perspective.
There's things about NORAD that we will never know. I've worked on NORAD projects 40 years out and we were never told what we were making or what it was for, just it was from the DOD, they have mountain bases all over the rockies
I worked at NORAD HQ as a civilian after retiring from the Air Force. I had offices both in the mountain and at Peterson. I was the Commander’s representative for force management i.e I made NORAD had the people and equipment NORAD needed.

Couple buddies of mine got chased down and asses reeeaaamed ,riding dirt bikes out behind ft.carson ...
Salute
Countries ?
@@oaxacaennuevayork9518 america ,canada ,Mexico, you cant believe an attack on one wont affect the others?especially since norad detects ICBM s nuclear type ,,not firecrackers.
Watching the F-16 intercept from inside the Cessna was great. Update the video title to call out that intercept. Like some others have commented, 'Best kept secret' is silly.
I live at the foot of Cheyenne mountain. I see NORAD everyday. I'm pretty sure everyone knows about NORAD lol. It's not much of a secret anymore.
the content is secret...how they do their job, and what they know...not the location.
@Ben Chu yea it's a pretty cool place. There's like a little community inside the mountain. there's rumor around my city Colorado springs, saying there's nothing inside anymore, but yea right lol. There's always suspicious lights over the mountain.
That’s a faint but do they know about all of the other top secret facilities….. lol
Anyone that’s seen War Games from the early 1980’s knows about NORAD and Cheyenne Mountain.
@@porscheguy09 right .... right.. I've actually drove up to the main gate before.. not a good idea lol.. was greeted by guard with m16 👍 just searched and told me to turn around lol
Very impressive. I am mighty proud of you NORAD guys, especially since I had the opportunity to visit one of your bases. Love and prayers to you all.
My grandpa retired years ago from the Air Force. Last place he worked at was NORAD, and before that, the Pentagon, Assistant Joint Chiefs Of Staff is what he commanded before he was stationed at NORAD.
Thank you for your service Sir..I,hand salute you.
How cool is that. What a great guy he must have been. What stories he could maybe tell.
Let's not forget that in 1983 Matthew Broderick saved us from WW3 when he defeated the WOPR computer.
I never knew the Canadian Air Force has people in Colorado. Interesting
As usual Canadians and Americans working together for the common good.
Hoorah!!
Growing up on "WarGames", I was left questioning how effective a country's ability to defend itself actually was. But, as a private pilot, I'm glad I was never intercepted for unknowingly doing something stupid.
"Would you like to play a game"..same here. I'm 44 I remember going to the movies seeing it..
Why didn't NORAD see the Chinese Spy balloon whilst it was over Alaska or Canada?
Must not be too great judging by the events on 9/11
Strength we have in God and direction 🙏🕊️🙏 💜.
"best kept secret" - so secret, in fact, that the whole world has known about its existence for decades, and thousands of articles, videos and documentaries have been made about it.
I'm pleased somebody said it. I've not even watched it yet but a title on RUclips saying "best kept secret" is clickbait for imbeciles. Think I'm gonna unsubscribe soon as this channel is going downhill.
@@philbarrett3739 yeah, I think the content is good, I like it, but the title on this one just made me laugh.
well said
It's in plenty of movies too.... Stargate, war games etc.....
True lol it’s no secret
We are so lucky to have such dedicated faithful individuals standing by to protect us all.
It's their job.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and please do correct me if I’m wrong. The content of this video does not contain any secrets. Now if you’ll excuse me, I must get back to making a replica of table mountain on my kitchen table, with mud from my garden. There are lights in the mountain. Strange, alien lights.
They had made a headquarters inside a mountain and they were thinking about making more inside other mountains but when this started to come in every movies they gave up their boggy plan of Nord but still somewhere manny mountain has headquarters being made inside them
Just like God talked to Noah because Noah was listening!
Totally Cool, glad they are there watching over us! Thank you
Good ol' Lowry Air Force Base . . . hangar repurposed TWICE - 1st: active aviation base. Upon closure of active aviation - 2nd: training facility for airmen in obtaining Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC). THIRD: Museum for Air Force aircraft, missions . . .
NORAD hasn't been a secret since the War Games or Star Gate film/Series!
No one can really say exactly what they're doing down there!
From the way things are going lately, I'd say that the original purpose of Norad is still valid and relevant.
I train daily at March ARB. There is a California air nat’l guard detachment of F-16’s there that seem to launch almost every other day, if not every day while we are there in the pattern. It’s quite impressive.
nice to see Canadians involved strategically.
My grandfather was flying f-101 interceptors at north bay around that time!
Why didn't NORAD see the Chinese Spy balloon whilst it was over Alaska or Canada? ???
@@havasubooo8840 who says they didn't?
I was with the 24th NORAD at Malmstrom AFB (Huntress Control) from 1979 to 1983. I then was hired by the FAA and spent 33 years at Fort Worth Center. I have several stories about intercepts but it was great to see it from the video's perspective.
what about 9/11?
and what the heck is the homeland? I am not a citizen of any homeland.
Best part of job is tracing Santa. 💪😉✌
More serious than a highway patrol pulling over for a speeding car. Never want to see a fighter jet pulling alongside of me.
Convince me the Matthew Burchette, the interviewer, doesn't look like Brent Spiner as Dr. Brackish Okun in Independence Day!
Hah. That’s where he seemed familiar from! Nailed it.
This was cool. I see flights coming out of Buckley all the time and never knew what they were up to. I have a bit of an idea now.
"Best kept secret" for YOU maybe :-)
So secretive in fact that you need a high level clearance to be read-in on the fact that they track Santa every Christmas eve.
Carry on....
There are places nationwide that are not generally known that work with NORAD everyday! I’ve worked at a couple and they have our best interests in mind🙏👍🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸. Nuff said
