    I like Ms. Judy Harbin's comments of 5 years ago. The Good Shepherd will not lead us where He does not want us to go.The Baylor choir gives an excellent performance. Very uplifting! My favorite phrase is " No longer a stranger nor a guest but like a child at home"! Stay safe everyone and God Bless Us!

    Nice balance and blend in this choir. Female voices really stood out at times. Sounded great. Great message in the song.

    1. My Shepherd will supply my need
    Jehovah is His Name;
    In pastures fresh He makes me feed
    Beside the living stream.
    He brings my wand’ring spirit back
    When I forsake His ways,
    And leads me, for His mercy’s sake,
    In paths of truth and grace.
    2. When I walk thru the shades of death,
    Thy presence is my stay;
    A word of Thy supporting breath
    Drives all my fears away.
    Thy hand, in sight of all my foes,
    Doth still my table spread;
    My cup with blessings overflows;
    Thine oil anoints my head.
    3. The sure provisions of my God
    Attend me all my days;
    O may Thy house be mine abode,
    And all my work be praise!
    There would I find a settled rest
    (While others go and come),
    No more a stranger or a guest,
    But like a child at home.

    This was one of my favorite pieces when I sang in the Baylor A Cappella Choir! Never sang it this slowly...and I LIKE it! It makes it more serene and calm (It also makes it harder to sing those long phrases well!!) WONDERFUL!!

    Our church choir sang this arrangement as the anthem during yesterday's worship service. It reaffirmed my intention to have it sung at my memorial service when the time comes. Exquisite!

    I first heard this hymn on 9/12/01 when the prayer service at the National Cathedral was televised during the national day of mourning for those killed and injured during the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01

    I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (July 19, Pentecost 8), we sang this as the Hymn of the Day. It is #782 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

    I do not understand it but I just keep trusting my Good Shepherd because I know He will not lead me anyplace He does not want me to follow

    I love the tempo with which they perform this arrangement. Slower than when even Mack Wilberg conducts it. I like it better this way.

      Timothy Johnson - Our Mom was the organist at Easton Presbyterian Church for over 50 yrs- When I listen to this beautiful rendition I can hear her saying “pick up the pace!”🙂

    One of my favorite selections for the quality of the arrangement and text. But far more than this, the message of this piece is extraordinary -- "no more a stranger, nor a guest, but like a child at home." Simply and profoundly beautiful.

    Wolrd-changing melody aside, the new covenant expression of the text of psalm 23 is matchlessly beautiful

    I discovered this circa July 2019, and loved it. It really ministers to my spirit and soul. I lovvvvve how it gradually swells in the third verse! What a blessing music is!
    Thank you, Stephen Goose for sharing this with us!

      PUAlum That would be gorgeous but, this arrangement of the song isn't made to be sung a capella.

      +Rainbeaux Steele Good point....thanks. This vid. got me spending lots of time with the great group! I'm going to try to find out if they ever perform in Los Angeles! I'd fight the nasty traffic to hear them live. Cheers & blessings.

    I don't know if the guy who posted this video was in this choir or not, but I just wanted to say that this rendition is great. It's better than the MTC's own version (and their conductor arranged it). The slower tempo is better, and the climax of this song is more powerful than the Mormons' version. Very moving. Well done.

    This is the same arrangement we sang in my college choir, except we didn't have the oboe. The chord progressions in the last chorus are different than any other version out there. I have tried everywhere to find it....is this arrangement available to purchase or download ? (Piano score)

    It's not sung A cappella; it's Baylor's A Cappella Choir singing . . .
