    Lightning bolt is actually a great alternative to fireball. DM's often dont group enemys up in groups because they know lots of casters run fireball. As a result, you'll be getting more multi hits from lighting bot than fireball. Also, your less likely to hit your own teammates with lightning bolt!

      The Barbarian saved and tanked the damage, but the caster behind the barbarian got knocked out.

Changing the travel time while keeping the air envelope times is weird, making it so that your air envelope is instantly spoiled by contact with a lower grade one (regardless of size) is very bad (prior editions had it based on size of the objects), and the Giff for some reason can shoot a musket 8 times in 6 seconds as a high enough level fighter. And they didn't even give a cool lore reason why! Just made the feature and shrugged. I get that muskets are unfun when you're only blasting a single attack roll as a character with extra attacks, but why not just make them get some sort of bonus on the damage of that single attack roll for each extra attack instead? let's be honest now....the gigachad guy would be fun first couple times , but if he just does shit because it's cool every time , it would get really tiring , really fast. Especially in harder encounters

    I love the theme and i will use all the content but i homebrew a lot to my and my players personal taste.

    Everything hits home, except that I agree more with the non-chad about the lack of actual rules I can use from official D&D books, they are lackluster so I don't even bother, haven't bought a new WotC book since 2019. I probably wouldn't care if I had more time to homebrew.

    While I understand that there are circles of people in the fandom that have over criticized the Spelljammer books, I don't think ignoring the complaints about it and pretending that the lack of ship to ship combat is in fact a problem, is some how a Chad move.
    I think what would have been the Chad move would have been to acknowledge that there are problems with the books but try to highlight some of the more positive aspects of them too. Then go into how that great thing about tabletop gaming is that we CAN homebrew "patches" to fix or fill in rules that don't work unlike in video games where the rules are hardwired into the experience.
    Over all I liked the video but that one skit just didn't sit right for me.

      Yeah, like.. there are more circumspect and zen ways to respond to a poor product than toxic complaining, so that was a point that was begging to be made with that setup. But, just dismissing concerns and saying "well, I like it" isn't one of them.
      If anything, that's more like foisting the burden of critique and product quality off on everyone else, and that does not fit in with a gigachad.

    • @condimentking3395
      @condimentking3395 Год назад +4

      You took a lot of interpretation from the response of "I liked it" from being asked what he thought about it. There isn't anything to suggest the gigachad character thinks the book is without issues. Saying you like the books when someone is complaining isn't ignoring criticism, and getting really annoyed at that part of the skit purely because of that projection is sorta the negative mob mentality behavior that was being made fun of. And to be clear, I understand the frustrations with the books and I understand that the skit probably felt like it was targeting your legitimate frustration, but I just don't believe the skit was doing what you say it was
