We love Ya Jacob.
Thanks for the games.
Well isn't this sweet
I'm really glad Hoyoverse sponsored one of your videos. Thanks for the free jades Jacob, its hard being ftp.
Sir, there is something wrong with your video. For some reason I can't like it thousand times more.
As a Honkai Impact 3 player, I'm too salty to play Star Rail. The Honkai aesthetic just looks like Genshin in space now, rather than future tech D:
And don't even get me started on the combat.
I am so glad this didn't turn into 'haha wizard loses' and actually acknowledges the imperfections of the gigachad. This was unexpectedly a perfect way for these characters to interact.
Appreciate this. I had written the script a few times and it always went this route.
I did think over the years that Gigachad was very… performatively selfless, yes bending over backwards to help others but also making sure they knew he did so.
It's good to have it confirmed as a kind of flaw, as well as a strength.
@XPtoLevel3 what the song at 10:00 want to use for my campaign.
@@gigaslayer1058 The song is 'The Vice' by Hampus Naeselius
@@XPtoLevel3Amazing!
Truly, A milestone in the level 3 XPanded universe. Can’t wait for more
XPanded universe lol. Very clever, I approve
How do you use milestones if he's getting XP tho
Are we lvl 3 now with this milestone?
Ya, dude needs to write on mushrooms more often!
We reached a milestone, will this become xp to level 4 now?
The power of sponsorship overwhelms even the Gigachad's ability to stay on topic.
Edit: Oh shit that was awesome
Who could resist a new game from the Epsteinverse?
I thought it was going to be raid shadow legends at first
The oathbreaker line is an underrated moment for me because, like the rest of the video, it works on multiple levels (but in a particularly unexpected way). What seems like an obvious win for Gigachad -- refusing to take the bait and stoop to his level -- betrays a willingness to sacrifice personal (and possibly group) comfort, or at least his own hopes for that particular character and campaign, all in the name of "yes, and".
I was looking for a comment like this
“I’ve always wanted to play an Oathbreaker” is a terrifying line coming from a Paladin mid campaign tbh
The Wizard deliberately breaking all the casting rules to get Chad to call him out on it so he can retort with "Oh, no more 'Yes, and'?" felt really on brand for an intelligent, manipulative wizard
That cut to the empty table felt so surreal. Of course we all know it was just Jacob on his own acting out different characters but seeing it at such a juxtaposition with the previous scene felt so strange it gave me goosebumps.
Awesome.
Breathtaking for sure.
It was AMAZING
really shows that it takes to act
Ikr?? Like this video is so unexpectedly well made
"I don't hate myself even if I hate a decision I made." That line...that one line...that hit something in my soul and now I'm sitting here watching a funny video about Wizard vs Gigachad while having a moment of self-realization and empathy. This whole thing is gonna stick with me beyond DND!!
Wow it's almost like making mistakes is human nature and hating ourselves for every misstep is a surefire way to be miserable and never allow self growth to happen from honest reflection
Thats the best advertisement for dnd beyond I have seen yet
That's honestly the best script you've ever done. It's so well written and intelligent, while staying funny and close to what you do. Incredible work I loved it !
The disguised wizard using Jacobs normal voice but with the wizard's speech patterns is such nuanced foreshadowing!
Truly a masterpiece!
Wait I just noticed that!!!!!!! And how Gigachad slowly picks up on it! It’s so good!
As soon as he laughed I was like "Nooooooooo..... they don't even know he's at the table yet!!!"
I know, right? I loved that. Well-executed foreshadowing is always amazing.
Wait what
haha thanks!
"I was casting find familiar to get help"
"I find that hard to believe"
Chad is completely right, who the hell starts casting a one hour spell in an emergency?
@@Baito28 They changed it? I haven't kept up with one D&D.
Ok, I actually finished the video now, and I've gotta say, you can officially be XP to level 4 now, because you've taken your writing to another level. That was some of the best narrative craft I've seen, from introduction to buildup to sparring to climax... I revelled in every unexpected turn. All I gotta say to the DM is,
Yes, it had to go that hard.
Yes, it had to be that meta.
Yes, it has to be that unapologetically crazy.
Because it's you.
And we thank you--each of you, all of you--for that.
Keep going, JP(s).

I love how Wizard just picks up more and more bad habits with every episode. Now he's playing video games while the DM is talking.
The wizard has 3 highlights in every eye. That is how you know he is secretly the protagonist.
Even Chad couldn't resist the sponsor and requests the game be paused to hear more
At least it wasn't RSL😜
Gotta do them dailies
The two most popular characters of the channel going head to head, this is gonna be good
You couldn’t have been more right
Spoiler alert: it was
Is it bad that I'm both of them? On the one hand, I like Wizards, and all of the yes anding that they get up to, on the other, I like to inspire others to be their best, sometimes at my own expense. People need their moments of triumph
@tylernorman7896 hell no it ain't bad, that sounds fun. You do you so long as it isn't in expense of others. Or of yourself too much for that matter
@@timzyt63 It's more of a "Hey, Y'all wanna see some cool shit?" *Wizard having more "health" than a Barbarian*
That ended in a way more wholesome way than I thought I'd ever see in anything involving Wizard.
The Wizard speech from 8:44 to 10:05 was incredible. He had all these words ready in his mouth and putted them out like a fireball.
Funny how Gigachad started behaving like the Wizard to win with the Wizard, and the Wizard started behaving like Gigachad to win with Gigachad.
cause they both know the only way to win is to beat the other at there own game

“I’ve always wanted to play an oath breaker”
Manages to be such a badass line
Yes! Its so casual, but because its roleplay with actual mechanic refference, its so effective. Definetly stealing that for my next paladin hah
This gigachad character has unironically helped me grow and learn as a player. Love the vids!
This video alone it just... wow. It really shows how amazing a DM this guy his. How, real he is, and how he can control those feelings to show or not.
This is the best XP to Level 3 video Jacob has ever made.
At first I thought that it was just going to be Wizard being an ass until Chad finds a way to demoralize him. It wasn't until mid way through when they start comparing each others need to have control over the table, how they're part of the same coin and who they are to Jacob himself that this video really started getting me hooked.
The part about Jacob talking about his time as a youtuber both as himself and the 2 characters was the cherry on the perfectly made cake
(The chance for more Wizard and Chad adventures is cool too)
Yeah the premise and writing on this video was sublime. I've not seen better from Jacob and I bet he carries on to do better and better videos.
Agreed. I'll be honest, I don't agree with every single one of Jacob's takes on details of DMing or playing, but this is just so relatable and fundamental to the RPG experience. The desire for control (agency) and trying to keep that in check. Without it, playing is almost meaningless, but with too much of it, you make the game meaningless for everyone else at the table.
This is the great culmination of 7 years of effort and serves as a dissection of both his most popular character archetypes and there reason for being. Amazing!
Thank you :)
Their* friend
the duel between them both has to be the coolest thing ive seen out of D&D videos for a while, keep doing you its awesome!
It’s so good
Jesus Christ, this is not a youtube video, this is a pure art. the script is on a film level. Thank for this and every video that you've made so far!
ok but that battle between the wizard and the chad where they kept countering each other's plays in both valid (up until the wizard does an illegal move of course) and in character ways was so impressive, especially because of how fast paced yet understandable it was
Looking back, the one thing is that even when chad's smites got countered (aside from the lvl 3 smite that was portented) he still should've been able to make an attack roll
This video is perfection, but that part was the best.
It kept track of only using spells without verbal components, until it called out the first one that wasn't. It was all RAW. It was perfect.
Why is this actually amazing, the wizard having a surprisingly decent rebuttal followed by the spell battle between them
Cause you came for the Yugioh fight and didn't know it was secretly a Nolan project?
This deserves to be it's own DnD campaign
Something about the duel scene scratched something in my brain. Like- it was just so freaking clean! Genuinely felt like a mage battle. The back and forth, the dialogue mid combat, and ESPECIALLY the way that the rules of the game get woven into it. LOVED IT, some of your best work!!!
I love when the concept of a gigachad is turned from someone who tries to have high status to someone who simply wants everyone around them to do best. True gigachads are just nice people
It's absolutely insane when you realize you've never played with other players on characters that would actively complement each other in character.
@@Jigsawtwig genuinely it’s a really good example to set. The most important thing people forget about dnd is that its not a competition, its a cliche but for something that’s supposed to be a cliche people sure do seem to forget about it all the time…
yeah, but to do that exclusively is to forego all personal decision making and attempt to receive praise on those passive actions. It’s best to have a mix-know when to take the spotlight-know when to give it
@@superdragon8604Thank you for restating the point of the video. We know.
This was so much more entertaining than I thought it'd be. I especially loved that the Wizard was willing to use different things he'd experienced in previous wizard episodes in order to get the upper hand in their duel instead of just using Fireball, but still throwing in an attempt to use Fireball amidst all of it because that's still his favorite. And I loved the back and forth of their personalities clashing as well, the dialogue in general was excellent. I was on the edge of my seat, and I laughed a lot. 10/10
I respect every review that is THIS elaborate!

The spell battle between Wizard and Chad was incredibly well executed. 10/10 well done Mr. Level3
Jacob has gotten too good at this, I completely forgot he plays all of the characters at the table.
Mike Myers level talent.
Incredible.
wtf do you mean you forgot that he plays all of the characters when he is the characters?
How the hell do I put this into words. I’ve been following your channel on and off for years watching and absorbing all your content. Literally using it as a framework for my own dnd campaigns. Inspiring me to be my own gigachad at each table I join and also to be my own wizard at the tables that deserve it (insert evil laugh in fireball) you’ve become such a constant normality in my life spending just a few minutes…maybe an hour a day to relax and bring me joy to my mundane life…but this video, this video Jacob this meta defining introspection of a video really caught me off guard and made me look back on everything you’ve done and everything you’ve been able to share to me and your community and I’m nothing but proud and honored to witness it with you. Coming into your channel at just 10k subs (still something to be proud of to this day) and be a part of your journey to where you are now has been nothing short of amazing. Here’s to continuing that journey with you and on our way to a mil. Purple Heart Gale and praise BOOOAAAALLLL!

Gigachad vs Wizard is art! What an experience to watch this!
I like how the wizard is blind to the his own folly “ I’m unique! Everyone knows someone that plays just like me!” It’s a such a wizard thing to have happen. Also I like that DM is a character himself instead of being Jacob.
When Jacob once mentioned he had a script for Wizard vs Chad, I did not expect him turning into a double, triple backwards wall breaking insight insight story with in-character ads integration. Total insanity. Great masterpiece :D Also ...... Greg ..... see you next time
D&D Game, Character Faceoff, Meta Commentary, 4th Wall Break, FIFTH WALL BREAK, Clip Show Montage, WALL DECONSTRUCTION, and managed to fit in an ad for the Honky game.
I'm still in awe.
@@costanzafaust yep. really underrated video

this is what dnd is about, learning about ourselves by dividing ourselves to pieces we can understand. characters, the selfish wizard and the noble paladin, both aspects of the same man. on a completely related note play slay the princess
What I love about this skit, is that it follows pretty much an identical story structure as your typical dnd story. Starting off with a plot hook and then the players run with it and keep taking left turns until the story is completely different to what the dm, the players or us the audience could possible foresee coming. This is what makes ttrpg stories so different from any other type of story one can create. The only real comparable thing would be certain improv games. This skit feels like a dnd story. Incredible detail!
Jacob mentions in a reply to another comment, something like "I had written the script several times and it always went this route" like it was a surprise to him too but also inevitable.
I wanna run dragon heist soooo bad
i feel like the wizard was once on the path to gigachad but gigawizard if you will but got struck by the common insanity that comes from being drunk with power
Wizard actually got a backstory in one of his previous videos.
He was originally a barbarian who didnt get to attack for a full combat because his party had spells and one was a rogue (so ba dash) so all them got to kill the monster whilst he went insane from only being able to move
Yep. I agree with that.

I have been watching steadily since the cleric song days… and this may be the best piece you have made yet. That is not to say anything bad about your other works but this one just hits! Amazing concept, executed flawlessly and the meta spice was just right! This representation of the constant struggle we face as both a group and within ourselves is just so aptly on display here.
I am a forever DM now, started as a player years ago and grew my own group in the wake of the pandemic. You are a content creator whose works have helped me deal with some of the hardest parts of DM’ing with brevity and wit, but also honesty. I, and the Mizfitz, all thank you for your services and your comedic wisdom. Keep up the great work but remember to care for yourself as we only have in Jacob, no matter how many characters you play at your own table.
This is a great video! Seriously well done, it had an interesting plot, jokes, an ad but funny when it was mentioned, character building and more. Basically, this one video ran circles around 99% of anime that have come out in recent years. Congratulations on 700k+!
My god the writing and fourth wall meta-ness in this is unbelievably well done and well-written. Congrats Jacob, you really did it this time.
Duuuude, Jacob. The back and forth casting at 10:05 is one of my favorite moments of any video. Especially after the Wizard's maniacal monologue. It almost makes me wish combat in DnD could be this fast paced.
I have to wonder how many people were able to follow it on the first watch.
@@_Crunchy Oh yeah, it took me a couple of watches to get it all together. And the way the Wizard says "Verbal Component!" is just... *chefs kiss*

This was really awesome!
I've never felt so in awe of a video, full of detail with the foreshadowing and an ultimate climax to a confrontation between two of your characters.
Best video on RUclips for me.
This is a masterpiece. A beautiful deconstruction of not only the Wizard and Gigachad's characters motivations, and them coming to terms with their true selves, but also a deconstruction of Jacob himself. Pure cinema.
This is probably the best script I've seen from you, a wonderful story that was compelling and brought all of our favorite characters together. Well done good sir!

I didn't expect to be hit by a freight train, but god damn you truly outdid yourself this time. Thanks for everything you've done, and keep doing, Jacob.
"It must be straining to stuff such a bulbous ego into such a simple disguise" is such an intense line, fantastic writing!
Love that Jacob can write like
a proper ending to characters because that's just what comes natural to him.
wa sthat really the end? I think he established they would keep going with those charcters because they;re fun to write with.
Wizard is a great vehicle for branding and humor while Gigachad is exceptional at that relable feeling.
I think the issue is Wizard and Gigachad wouldnt really be able to comepte because they are so meta and projections of Jacob because they stem from the same core so one can;t win over the other.
heck wizard HAD a charcter arc but that was omitted ages ago remeber when the wizard died? then remeber when he suppsoedly gave up his wizarding powers after he pushed his friends too far?
this isnt the end, the page turns and the chapter closes.
Hey bud, you did good. We're proud of you and love your content. Seriously, I discovered you off of Critical Role, alongside Jocat, Zee, Blaine... Each so uniquely their own, yet cohesive, which is why I love D&D and the community that defines it. All of them have a face to play, you alone stand here as the man of many faces, who is always relatable, always funny, always entertaining, always in high-spirit. (dont tell them) But you're the person I'd choose to have at the table every single game. You take control when things are chaotic, you humbly sit back and watch when things unfold, you build up new players by letting them know that they are allowed to make mistakes and ask questions and you showcase the possibilities of just how far outta whack a campaign can go if you let it and it would be the most fun campaign ever. How you blend actions and consequence have had a profound impact on how I look at gaming, something as simple as "shatter has a radius", so you invent a consequence for that little detail that's inconsequential, but could go any way depending on what the players choose to do, they can focus on it and it can become a whole hornet's nest of a side-quest, or it can be ignored and they can continue with the story. Honestly, your channel is perfectly labeled, XP to Level 3, worthwhile experiences that teach you all there is to know about being a player, not just a character, so when you're done with the Day 0 intro to a campaign and everyone meets up for the start of the campaign at lvl 3, everyone knows that they're there to have fun, not cause fights, not control the game, not sit back and do nothing, not just be a helping hand, but actually play the game in all it's personas. It's been 7 years, in that time you've gotten married, made a mini and inspired millions to give D&D a go, or simply to be better players, because it's not just player x DM, everyone's story is intertwined and something as simple as letting someone try can make a big difference in how they see the game and how much enjoyment they get out of it. Thank you from all of us, for the years of great content and continued contribution to the D&D community, whether it's players, or just people who find it cool. Best of luck with parenting (seriously, GOODLUCK! You think the wizard is bad to deal with? HAH, wait till toddler stage), goodluck with life, goodluck with following your passions and fulfilling your dreams and thank you for bringing us along for the journey.

Allow me to help with that IS, and hopefully anyone else's that happens to stumble on this comment.
Ask yourself one question, and answer not from a position of overanalysis, but simply and honestly. Are you, and your players, having fun? Because that's how you really win D&D. Everything else is just window dressing. Nobody expects you to be some Matt Mercer, or even Jacob. As long as you're having fun, that's all that truly matters.

This showdown did not go the direction I was expecting, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I know you've been doing a lot of self-deprecation, but the montage of clips from all your other videos was a delight. More than anything, I admire your sincerity and how you keep striving to be a positive person.
Keep on pushing ever forward, Jacob.

Thank you, Jacob, and everyone else that is a part of your channel.
This is one of your best videos so far. Watching over the years, you've improved by leaps and bounds, and you were good from the start!
Idk if you intentionally created these characters with Sigmund Freud in mind, but you perfectly created the perfect Id (Wizard), Ego (Jacob), and Super Ego (Giga Chad). Any time I give an explanation of this concept, I’m coming straight back to this video.
Freud is an ass, but that idea is pretty interesting. I think it doesn’t necessarily apply here though, gigachad and wizard were both just different manifestations of egotism. Superego is supposed to mean morals, but the wizard seemed to have his own morality and conviction. Ego being Jacob I can maybe see though, hm.
Freud projected his perversions onto society.
@@plantinapot9169On a surface level at least, it works. Giga Chad is not altruistic, but they still consider the feelings of the party overall to be most important, and pushes them all to be their best selves. Wizard does whatever idea first pops into his mind, consequences be damned. He has an agenda, but the Wizard still operates mostly on instinct.
FUCK
didnt need this cursed ass knowledge, now i cant fucking unsee this
I love how this is Wisdom vs. Intelligence with both of them having Charisma. So much fun!
This took such an incredible turn. Beautifully done. Really enjoyed every second.
