Not meaning to be negative, but nearly two years is an excessively long time to wait. I've never known an employer in the US to not provide time off each year for vacation, and usually for shut downs during the holidays. I have difficulty understanding what took him so long to visit (not even stay).

I'm glad you have a successful relationship. Meeting your family the very first time you meet him will be scary for most western men. Usually we meet the parents after months of dating and when the couple decided that they are going steady and exclusive. I don't know how the food costs in Phillipines but were I live, that restaurant bill could cost over $1,500. John seems a good, intelligent and mature man.

This entire family showing up is only acceptable to a foreigner if he was told ahead of time to expect an entire family and he agreed. Otherwise he would feel overwhelmed. In the USA we don't meet entire families until we are comfortable dating a woman in person for a decent amount of time. This is way to much pressure. Instead it is more acceptable for two people to initially get to know one another. This man is older and awestruck by a young beauty and many will say everything is fine. But I can assure a Filipina that it is not. This man is obviously 30+ years older and has not drawn cultural boundaries. He will only accept this initially if he is on a short visit and will return home. Unless he is blinded by a young beauty at first. The quickest way to lose a foreigner is to keep him around an entire family for an extended amount of time. I know you want him to meet your family. But there is a right way and if it was a surprise at the airport he is just being respectful. Most foreigners would be thinking WTF but won't say anything and will just evaluate the entire first visit upon leaving. I know if it was a surprise I would address it the first minute alone with a Filipina. I would say what are you thinking? If he agreed ahead of time to this he is just a desperate man as no rational American would ever agree to this as he would never find this acceptable at home. Ask any guy that's a subscriber what they would do? Guys tell her the truth.

I got very emotional when you first physically met. Ii was engaged to my now wife for over six months before we physically met. This video brought back a reminder of that precious moment. We have now been happily matties for four years living in Ceb in the procince near her family.
