@@Professional_RUclips_Commenter I don't know where they get their figures and there's an obvious political motivation however I don't think the actual figures are enormously inaccurate, similar figures are quoted in the "UK Muslim census" which may not be universally liked but is at least compiled by UK Muslims for UK Muslims as a means of advocacy on their behalf.

Reminds me of a caller on asim al hakeem asking if zakat could be paid to his parents. Asim took this as an insult to his parents because you should give the best of your wealth to your parents, not your alms.
But I think the guy was looking for a way to get out of paying zakat by counting the money he gives to his parents as zakat

Alhamdulillah, there’s so much potential in Zakat and we need forward thinking Muslims to utilise this.
I will be entrusting all my Zakat this Ramadan to IFG/CUR8, InshaAllah ☝🏽

Do remember also give to NZF which Shiekh is from, they give the most in the UK for the Sunnah of giving locally and can actually check if people are eligible.

We are living very comfortably in the UK Alhamdulillah. I think there are more important areas around the world to focus on.
Not all are living comfortably, you could have a relative struggling.
There are many people who are struggling that you may not even know. So many living pay cheque to pay cheque and going into overdrafts. Get your head out of your bubble
How are we living comfortably in the UK? Muslims are the poorest social group by religion, among the worst educated, 24% of Muslims live in social housing, which means they are recipients of welfare and receive more from the state than they give back.
There is a lot of work to be done for Muslims to level up and become people who give more than they receive from the state, and become a model community for others to want to be like
We now have in Western Countries such as the UK the Welfare State which is funded by a progressive system of taxation I.e. the rich may a higher level of tax to assist the poor. The principal is aligned with the belief in social justice in Islam. With income tax, VAT, National Insurance, Council tax ect. I have paid over 50% of my income annually in these form of taxes and received very little in benefits. I also contribute for various charities from the money left. Surely that means I’ve made my contribution ?
