this made me cry so much when i first saw it. i could relate to the girl in the lost desolate land of her existence, dying for her fathers attention, but my daddy only seeing the bottom of the glass. i am broken, alone and childlike sometimes.. i recently became a mother and i want to learn from my fathers mistakes and show my daughter i love her everyday. i will do what my father could not- love everything.

I also was touched a lot when I saw the video. It inspired me too, to be a good father.

And don't forget "heard" as well as seen.
Here is my interpretation of events:
The father, ''the fraud'', lost the daughter, who is not alive in this video, he blames himself for it. Elle exists here in a spirit world of sorts, unable to move on. He feels empty, ''gutted'', they're both lost and alone in their worlds, he still sees her in his mind wherever he goes. he meanders around town trying in vain to crack through ''the spaces between places'' (between his world and the one ells is in).
It's really interesting. The "spaces between places" gets me every time I Iisten to this.

Ultimately the only way across is for him to die as well. He struggles through the space. He moves into her world, she immediately recognizes that he has, screaming ''dad!'', the narrative becomes hers. She finds him, not dead but alive, in her world. He is reborn, cleansed of his sin and self loathing. They reconcile, they forgive, they move on, they love everything. together.
I can't believe I found this, I'd seen these pictures of Elle Fanning but to find they're from a video of one of my favourite bands. Weird and super cool.
To think that such beautiful music and imagery can be created in this day and age gives us all some hope..

This made me cry...the symbolism and imagery within this film is haunting and heartbreakingly beautiful. I totally broke down at 10:24, as the baby's hand is making the sign for "I Love You" in American Sign Language. Whether this was intentional or not, just a random shot of the baby's hand in motion, it truly touched me in a way that I can't fully describe. Thank you Sigur Ros, Floria Sigismondi, Elle Fanning, John Hawkes and everyone else involved in this project....thank you for sharing this incredible music and story/vision.

One of the most visually stunning music videos I have ever seen. This video reminds me of a painting in motion and its ability to tap into certain emotions, that I wasn't even aware that I still had, it really should have more views, the world should see this video.

if your need an explanation then your missing the point. when it comes to Sigur Ros it's different for everyone, everyone feels something different when they listen to one of there songs. what i feel when i see and hear this will be completely different to what you feel. the idea is to not be afraid to feel and to lose yourself in the music, close your eyes and let yourself be free to feel and free to exist and experience this incredible music. its been said Sigur Ros is a Voice for your Soul!
this video is more like a short movie. and IT'S STUNNING! The music, the dialogs, the scenes, from the start to the end, 12 minutes of masterpiece!

I can't imagine how much turmoil the heart of a girl goes through when a father was never around. The ending is so beautiful though. She manages to be a mother to a son. The absence of a father is so fundamental to a little girls life. There is so much a little girl misses in that whole process. But what she learns from life is that even the most horrifying things and the most upsetting are mere stepping stones. They will build her up to be exactly what she has always wanted to be. A parent.
I admittedly found this contrived initially, but was weeping furiously by the end.

Does anybody remember the first time they heard a Sigur Ros song? I remember I heard this amazing and haunting song in a Price of Persia trailer. I googled it and it turned out to be Saeglopur. I spent 3 hours listening to it over and over again. I didn't even notice my window had been open the whole time. It was winter. Thank you Sigur Ros for making life slow down enough so that I can enjoy it. Thank you !

Lo he buscado para verlo... No sé realmente cuantas veces lo he visto desde que lo encontré por alguna casualidad hace un buen par de años en Vimeo, pero desde la última vez que decidí verlo también pasó mucho tiempo y quizá sin ningún motivo tenía que decirles que estoy aquí de nuevo con lágrimas en los ojos, una vez más tratando decifrar el por qué me conmueve tanto.

Great video! I've been a fan since '97 when I heard them on a late night radio station originating in Ontario, Canada. I had to order the first 2 of their CDs from Iceland because they weren't available in the USA in any catalog at that time. I called the radio station in Canada and got a telephone number to order an Icelandic catalog via snail mail. Cost me a small fortune for VON & VON Brigoi direct but it was worth every penny. In '99 I was able to buy Agætis byrjun retail. Unique band!
