Glass fiber reinforced nylon or composite as some folks call it is not bad. So many people go and upgrade their cars from durable composite or plastic to metal and then have to deal with increased weight and as you mentioned permanently bent parts.
Great detailed review, as always. Wonder how the size compares to E-Revo? Nice not have cantilever shocks on a basher this size. As is typical of bigger Traxxas vehicles, it will probably run a lot better with balanced & belted aftermarket tires.
@@scalebuildersguild I have to thanks for your video! The Sledge will be my next RC-Truck, that's sure! And now, I will subscribe your channel...👍🏻😉 Greetings from Germany!
Great footage and review. Is that a ball bearing supported link on the servo horn? The slo mo really highlights the imbalance in the wheels, you could probably add a tonne of weight to the rims balancing them!
I think that might be a bushing. I’ll have to take another look. The imbalance was caused by a substantial amount of water in the tires from some off camera hilarity. It’s plenty balanced otherwise!

@@TheZombified316 It is a negative, but you can combat it. Tape over the holes in the wheels so dirt, water and debris doesn't get inside them, will definitely prolong the life of the foams. Enjoy!
Matt Matt Matt you need to hone your basher skills just a little. I have a kraton 4s which is totally insane! I can't imagine 6s in anything. But hey why not. They should have sent my roommate one because he can peel the wheels off almost any rig he drives lol. Great review. Love the enthusiasm and honesty you bring to every thing you test. :)
Excellent video. Thx. When I buy one, it will be gently bashed. If it breaks, it will be because of an unexpected event. My grandkids ages 6 to 9 will drive it often. They like driving my Summit.
Seeing as this is pretty much "Traxxas took Arrma Kraton 6S and put their own spin on it", I am going to put some of my thoughts on how these two would stack up (I've had the Kraton 6s for a few months now, and I absolutely love it still). The chassis designs is pretty much 1:1 to Kraton, with a couple little tweaks here and there. I'm sure Talbot will find a few choice words for Traxxas' use of aluminum in it, however, I haven't managed to bend mine yet. Inside layout is very similar to Kraton's, they just mirrored the radio-esc-motor layout around. Not a big fan of their battery mounting, however, standard velcro ties are much better, in my opinion, as I certainly do not want my batteries to bonk around the battery compartment as I send it. Also would be a pain to adjust every time you switch battery packs, if you run different sized sets. Suspension design and layout is also _very_ similar, sometimes down to the layout of the holes on the lower arms. Personally, I do not like Traxxas' choice of _fixed-length_ plastic suspension links, because it removes a significant degree of adjustment there. I _do_ approve all the extra mud/debris guards on the rear suspension, I certainly wish Arrma made something like this for the Kraton, even as an option -- rocks, branches stuck in there are certainly a problem I run into often. And the suspension in general gets thoroughly sandblasted by all the ejecta from under the front wheels as you floor it, so a big plus here. The front suspension looks a bit different, though, from the Arrma's dual arm and pillow ball one, not sure how that would stack up in terms of durability, but maybe it won't have the slop that Arrma seems to have in all Kratons (drives me nuts sometimes). Not a big fan of the way they mounted the motor, however, as it precludes mounting of a heatsink and fan for cooling -- overheating used to be a problem for Kraton until i installed these. But at least I see they provided mounts for a fan only. All in all, a very interesting move from Traxxas, providing some direct competition to Arrma in 1/8th scale basher truggy market. Can't wait to see the reviews from extreme bashers on the durability of these, and what's Arrma's response to it! Thanks for the video!
It's pretty clear Traxxas has their crosshairs on the 6S Kraton with this one. I'm sure we'll see Sledge vs Kraton videos soon and content creators can retire the Revo vs Kraton videos 😂. RC crawlers are my obsession but I enjoy the bashers when there's space to run them. I have a brushless converted 1/8 buggy and a 6S EXB Kraton, and even built a ramp for them to haul out to my bash spot. I really enjoy your basher reviews. I do wish for a little more full speed video in your running video for bashers and crawlers. You have truly great slow motion, editing, and even the music, but it is nice to see the speed too :)

Great detailed review, as always. Wonder how the size compares to E-Revo? Nice not have cantilever shocks on a basher this size. As is typical of bigger Traxxas vehicles, it will probably run a lot better with balanced & belted aftermarket tires.
Here is size compare to E-Revo 2.0, WideMaxx, Kraton and X-Maxx...

@@scalebuildersguild I have to thanks for your video! The Sledge will be my next RC-Truck, that's sure! And now, I will subscribe your channel...👍🏻😉
Greetings from Germany!
Thank you for the video. The drive shafts appear to be carried over from other models. Would be nice to see proper universal joints. Cheers 🇦🇺
Have you thought about reviewing the new HPI wr8?
Maybe? Always up for consideration, but I've got a lot on my plate right now.
Very good vid man good look at what's going on with the truck. Then perfect song to run too with the bash 👊👊💪💪👻😉💯. However just ordered the new K6 EXB two days before this dropped. 😀. This one will have to wait a minute 🤔🙂. Love to see some head to heads as well👍💪💪
Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video, good stuff✌Also, awesome, those rooster tails.
Can we expect a bash-off soon between our favorite channels, hope so :)
Always room for a good bash. Thanks for watching!
great vid ! good choice of music too
Thanks for watching!
take it off of any sweet jumps?
is it normal to have the drive gear poking through the floor pan? won't that allow dirt to get inbetween there and round into gears etc?
Yep, pretty normal!
When can i buy this vehicle?? It says 31st of march on website but my hobby shop is getting it this friday.
Buy it at your hobby shop!
I wanted to XRT... definitely getting this instead 😊
mmmm Traxxas Kraton lookin sick! Does it come in Arrma colors?
Looks can be deceiving! Thanks for watching!
I just started to save up for a Widemaxx but after seeing this...im getting a Sledge instead haha. Thanks for a informative and great video.
Thanks for watching!!! Have fun!
Still, about 5 minutes of that kind of driving and I'm all done. About a minute of a vid is all I can handle.
The building, the real driving, the staging, that's the fun part.
Or full on racing. Either iether, nothing RTR. That just robs me of my favorite part of the hobby.
Wish the best for ya always, have fun.
Thanks for watching! I, too, like the building, but I'm appreciating how fun it is to drive a basher.
I'm glad your so taken with the size and thrusting power of the servo, obviously size matters
😂 That's what she said....
Thanks for the video. Which one is more fun in your opinion sledge , xmax or Mohave
I do't own an XMAXX, but it's probably the most versatile of the three.
Great video & review 👍
Glad you liked it thanks for watching!
this is like the rustlers bigger brother. I dig it
Sooooo…Traxxas built a truggy. Good overview and as always good video!
I’ve got a maxx on back order. Should I cancel and get this? I only have 4s batteries.
I think if you’re going to limit yourself to 4S, stick with the Maxx.
@@scalebuildersguild thanks for the reply, I think you’re right. I was just looking at the graphs on the Traxxas website. Looks like it’s quite a bit slower with the 4s.
So, are you going to do a SBG style build/body for it or just bashhhh awayyyy? :D
I can see a new body maybe, built using the techniques you have learned over the years. Trying to figure out the line between a bash and display body would be fun.
I will definitely be getting a clear body to paint. Stay tuned for that!
@@scalebuildersguild Sounds like a plan good man. We shall witness it when it becomes a thing to be witnessed.
I've been working on a rustler 4x4 that's very similar to that but I can't get the travel to be as much as I would like
Looks can be deceiving. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Matt 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻The body design look similar to a Arrma Kraton, but the chassis look well improve and build 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
Thanks for watching, and I agree!
I don't think I've seen anything Traxxas related from you since the painting video from a while back. I'm a complete Traxxas nerd and can't wait to get my hands on one..... and a Revo...... an X01....... and a UDR 😁
Love Traxxas too. Thanks for watching!
I can't decide between the sledge or the kraton 6s!!! it will be my first venture into this hobby so I'm not sure what I want
I remember not to long ago people we’re saying Traxxas was going out of business..nope!…boom sledge!
🤦 Traxxas is #1 in rc sales.
@@spike-- I was referring to when horizon separated from Traxxas a few years ago buddy

@@spike-- right lol I’m just happy Traxxas is stepping it up with new vehicles this sledge looks tempting to buy but I just got a wide max a month ago but I’m happy with it ..we’ll until this came out uuh buyers remorse
@@eriku7205
Just enjoy what you have. Maxx is at great truck.
What does he mean when he mentions pancacking when referring to the diff oil and everything?
Tires tend to balloon out and create a flat disc, also known as a pancake, under extreme velocity.
@scalebuildersguild ahhh that's what I figured is that a negative thing and thanks for the reply man happy new year btw I have had the sledge a week as my first car and I absolutely love it
@@TheZombified316 It is a negative, but you can combat it. Tape over the holes in the wheels so dirt, water and debris doesn't get inside them, will definitely prolong the life of the foams. Enjoy!
Would you rather the Fireteam or Sledge? Looking for a brasher and I really like the Fireteam though this looks really well built.
They both have their merits. If you're looking for a bit more scale experience, I would recommend the Fireteam. Thanks for watching and good luck!
I would poke some holes in the tires to let the water out of the tires, that is really causing the tires to shake like that.
And risk blowing out a tire? Some shots the tires had water in them, but it’s pretty easy to squeeze it out.
I never said I was a basher, but I sure had fun with this! Thanks for watching and compliments!
Excellent video. Thx. When I buy one, it will be gently bashed. If it breaks, it will be because of an unexpected event. My grandkids ages 6 to 9 will drive it often. They like driving my Summit.
That's awesome! Nice to share the hobby!
Thanks for watching! There are a lot running videos out there that are a lot of fun to watch!
I’m new to rc and honestly I want one !!!
Looks durable. How much? Third review I see including Traxxas’ and no mention of price??
799dollar
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback. I film all of these videos with no assistance, so it can be challenging driving and filming at the same time.
@@scalebuildersguild As someone that has attempted to film just a single jump, and not succeed after more than a few attempts, I can sympathize. If the car was in frame, I botched the landing. If the jump was perfect, the camera was looking somewhere else. I gave up before I broke something
@@Andy_Yates I’ll definitely try to get more fast motion built into the edits! Thanks!
Arrma Sledge? or Traxxas Kraton V.6?
Looks can be deceiving! Thanks for watching!
The vehicle of choice for Flying Cars 2?
OMG... I'm laughing so hard right now! Can you imagine if they made a sequel?
Very cool video. What song did you use? I like it!
Thanks! The song is called Dangerous- by Royal Deluxe.
