This is back when album cover art was a HUGE thing. Did you notice the spaceships are guitars, and that there's a city in each one?? This was basically recorded in a home studio in the basement, by Tom Scholz, who played most everything, although other musicians played as well. Brad Delp did the vocals, until he committed suicide a few years back. This is one of those albums that EVERY song was a solid banger.
That’s Brad Delp harmonizing with himself. Tom Sholtz created the entire album in his basement ( a tech genius ) .. he hired Delp to add the vocals (harmonies and all ) to complete the first album.
I believe when Tom was in front of the record execs, they asked to see the band and of course there really was not a band per se, so he had to get them together.
My last morning in stationed in Germany 1986' my roommate set this song for my wake up on his stereo system without telling me. We loved all kinds of music and we shared collections through the high-speed dubbing of cassettes. I thanked him because whenever I hear this song I remember him. His first morning I woke him up blasting Pink Floyd's song "Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert" so loud the building shook and people pounded on the door and he flew out of bed. Great music creating great memories.

"Foreplay" is the instrumental introduction to the song "Foreplay/Long Time" by the American rock band Boston. The two songs are usually played together on the radio and appear as one track on the band's 1976 self-titled debut album.
Tommy DeCarlo (born April 23, 1965) is an American singer who is the current lead vocalist for the rock band Boston. Biography: DeCarlo discovered and became a fan of Boston at age 12.[1] Years later, he began writing his own music and in the 1990s began recording covers of himself singing his favorite Boston songs. In March 2007, original Boston lead singer Brad Delp unexpectedly died at the age of 55. To honor Delp, DeCarlo wrote and recorded an original song about his favorite vocalist as well as recorded a couple of Boston covers. His daughter suggested he post the songs on a Myspace page that she helped him set up. He then decided to send his Myspace page link to Boston management. Not long after, he was contacted by Boston founding member Tom Scholz. At the time, DeCarlo was working at a Charlotte, North Carolina-area Home Depot as a credit manager. DeCarlo has been lead vocalist on Boston tours 2008, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Have you ever listened to the band Chicago? Start with “25 or 6 to 4”, either the studio recording or the live at Tanglewood concert version. Peter Cetera recorded the studio version with his jaws wired shut after it was broken in a brawl at a Cubs game at Dodger Stadium. Amazing.
I had the pleasure of having Kimberley Dahme in the studio when I co-produced the album, “My Heart Plays These Songs” with Effron White. She was Boston’s first female bass player. She’s madly amazing, especially on her 5 string bass!
One of my favorite bands from high school when this song played and several others that were long like stairway to heaven Free Bird do you feel like we do by Peter Frampton he always knew that the DJ either had to go to the bathroom or wanted to smoke. 😂
They recorded this in Schults basement. When the record label told them to re-record in a proper studio, they still turned in the basement version, which your listening to.
Brad Delph was the singer, and he died in 2007. If they were ever going to do live shows again, they HAD to find someone who could do the music justice
brad delp sings all parts (lead and harmonies) and this was before autotune. that would be Tommy DeCarlo. and yes that is correct. Tommy made several tracks of him singing boston on karoke. he sent the recordings to an old boston email address. it eventually got to Tom and he invited him to perform with the band during Brad Delp's remembering concert. the guy with the big afro hair, is the drummer Sib Hashian. He has unfortunately passed away. he died during a gig on a cruise ship a few years ago. Incidentally his son is married to Dwayne The Rock Johnson's daughter. Brad Delp is the person on the far right. Top row: Brad Delp (singer), Tom Scholz (founder of everything Boston), Fran Sheehan (bassist), Barry Goudreau (guitarist). initially the group was only Tom and Brad. when they were signed by Epic records, they hired local musicians that each had play together with. Record company insisted on replacing the drummer (who was Jim Masdea) with Sib Hashian.
The lead singer Brad Delp had one of the best voices ever. Sadly depression hit him and he took his own life. This song was created in a garage. The history of this group is so amazing

The story you are thinking of is actually from the group Journey. Steve Perry left and then they found Arnel Pinada (spelling) off RUclips. The lead singer from Boston Brad Delp committed suicide and was found to have child porn on his computer.
So this was viewed as two isolated tracks to most radio dj’s. In St. Louis, for example, KAHe 95 and Radio Rich Dalton were generally the only two radio sources that would play the full ride. Most station started up about 4 measures prior to the instrumentals dropping out of Instrumental mode.

This song seems like the shortest eight minutes ever. I just want it to keep going. Brad Delp was the lead singer (and harmony) in this. Sadly, he took his own life in 2007.
The band Journey also found a replacement singer from RUclips, a little Filipino guy named Arnel Pineda. Small guy, HUGE voice. Guy went from living in near poverty to being a bonified rock star.
