- Join me in this week's video as I take you step by step on how to make the perfect sourdough loaf :)
My recipe:
1) 1/2 cup of starter in 1 1/2 cup of warm water in a bowl
2) 2 cups of bread flour, add 1/2-1 cup depending on feel/look of dough
3) Let sit for 30 minutes with a tea towel covering your bowl
4) Add less than 1 TBSP of salt
5) Let sit for 30 minutes with a tea towel covering your bowl
6) Complete 3 rounds of stretch and folds, letting your dough rest for 30 minutes in between
7) After final stretch and fold, let sit for 10-20 minutes
8) Stretch dough into a rectangle, trifold dough into log, roll from one end to another
9) Administer push and pull to form elasticity in ball shape
10) Put in Banneton basket (or bowl), cover with plastic bag, sit in fridge overnight
11) Take bread out onto a floured surface, do another round steps 8 and 9
12) Preheat oven to 425 with dutch oven inside the oven
13) Bake bread for 30-35 minutes covered
14) Take lid off, bake for another 20-25 minutes
15) Pull bread out of the oven, and place on a wire cooling rack
16) Enjoy!!

THIS WEEK'S ENCOURAGEMENT:
"Don't ever forget kindness and truth. Wear them like a necklace. Write them on your heart as if on a tablet. Then you will be respected and will please both God and people." - Proverbs 3:3-6
how much sourdough starter did you use
I've started to use 20% proportion. So for a medium loaf a mug full
Hey Sally, I use half a cup! I found a whole cup is just too much for the recipe I use, but if you wanted to make two loaves you could use a cup ☺️
I’ve never used a mug as a measurement, but I kind of love that! How fun ☺️
Delicious recipe😋
