Bolan is one of the most influential British rock stars of all time. So many other bands and artists pay homage with countless covers. It’s fair to say his influence on the punk/ new wave/ alternative rock/ heavy rock/ indie scene is immense. From Guns N’ Roses to marylin Manson, oasis to depeche mode, Bowie to Prince. He paved the way! His legendary status keeps on growing and his songs have really stood the test of time! The Slider and electric warrior albums should be in every music lovers top 20!

Much respect to you for checking out T.Rex. Such an underrated band now. They were huge in the UK in the early 70s and many people considered them to be the successors to The Beatles. Marc Bolan, T.Rex's songwriter and singer, was dyslexic and said that he put together words and lyrics that sounded right even if they didn't always make sense. Many of his songs were about cars which is kind of spooky because in 1977 he died in a car crash aged 29. RIP Marc. I recommend listening to 20th Century Boy by T. Rex too.

A Jeepster is a young, very average teenage boy 'punching' for a girl out of his league. Like a Jeep pursuing a Jaguar [car metaphor].
I was a massive 'T Rex' fan as a teen until I discovered 'Yes' music. 😅

LOVE MARC BOLAN & T.REX. They were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame last year!! Marc Bolan’s son, Rolan did the honors!! You can say he is the father of Glam Rock & David Bowie followed right after that!! In fact, several British artists got inspiration from T.Rex. Marc was all the rage with the ladies Hmmm Yep! He’s HOT. Sadly, he was killed in a car accident in 1977. Here some great songs to react to: METAL GURU (my favorite) 20TH CENTURY BOY, ROCK ON, HOT LOVE, TELEGRAM SAM, CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION.😁😁 Marc often described the ladies like a car!!

The stomping throughout the song was real it was Marc Bolan's enthusiasm in the studio.
A lot of lyrics by Marc didn't really mean anything and he also changed the sound of some words.
Throughout this song he compared his and the girls feelings to a car which is a feature on many of his songs but you already picked up on that to your credit

" Jeepster" Its a metaphor, a Jeepster is a charming average guy, willing to go anywhere for the object of his affection. Marc Bolan was obsessed with music and lyrics and spent most of his days creating new songs.Marc Bolan's lyrics didn't make any sense but who cares ? his music was great. He dreamt, drank read music 24 hours a day, that's what pushed him forward and made him the great star he was.He had 14 top 20 hits and 4 number 1 hits because he was so dedicated. On 16 September 1977, Bolan was a passenger in a Mini 1275GT driven by Gloria Jones, the car struck a fence post and then a tree. Bolan was killed instantly, R.I.P. Marc Bolan 1947 - 1977.

"Metal guru, has it been, just like a silver-studded sabre-tooth dream ?" What does that lyric line mean in the song "Metal Guru" ? Bolan lyric analysis in my COMMUNITY section with 90 thumbs up (no down)! MANY aha-experiences guaranteed. He was a modern poet.

The 'tap dancing' you heard is Marc Bolan excitedly stomping his Anello & Davide clad feet on the studio floor as the track is being recorded. Marc referenced cars on many of his tracks or amalgamated names of cars with other words [songs like Mustang Ford, Thunderwing, Cadilac, Jeepster (where he he also references Jaguar - although he may have meant the animal), Children of the Revolution (I drive a Rolls Royce cos its good for my voice), Get it On (built like a car you git a hub cap diamond star halo) Buick Mackane etc etc.]. He loved words and the sounds of the words - his lyrics didn't always make sense when analyzed but they always sounded great and made perfect sense to those of us who adored him and the band. and yes he did unashamedly rip off Howlin Wolf's song You'll Be Mine - even stealing a few of the lyrics - but he did completely made it his own - brilliant!

Marc Bolan's T Rex was the first big band after the Beatles split up in
    70. They had number one after number 1. Metal Guru is one. He was great pals with David Bowie. He passed a few weeks after Elvis passed in a car crash. His black wife who with her son who survived the crash took theimseives back to her native US The kid grew up not knowing his dad was a rock star until he saw the videos and he realised that he was Rolan Bolan son of Marc Bolan lead of T. Rex. Ride A White Swan is another song by him ( T Rex were not as big in.the US where nobody knew them.much but were huge in the UK and Europe )

    T. Rex were okay, had a few hits, 'Children of the Revolution,' 'Ride a White Swan,' 'Hot Love,' etc. but this was the time when pop music splintered and shot off in a multitude of different directions and blossomed into greatness, with the likes of Elton John, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, E.L.O., Queen, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the solo ex-Beatles, etc. T. Rex were viewed, at the time and by those who took music more seriously, as lightweights who appealed more to little girls and 'teenyboppers.'

Marc Bolan (r.i.p) and T.Rex were great. I loVed everything by them. Try doing 'Cosmic Dancer' or Hot Love or even Lifes a Gas.

If you had a T Rex album in the 70s it was this one, pictured in your insert. Every song has a good dance groove. Bang a Gong, their biggest hit, is also on the album.

Just enjoy the music of this great rocker 🎸
The lyrics are what you make of them ie sheer poetry.
    Dont look for story lines!!!

Marc wasn't around for long, so a quick incredible journey awaits if you want. What a poet. And bruv, i have a story to tell, at 50 this guy saved my life. Explosive Mouth, Spaceball, Girl, gosh list goes on, and im not even a fan. If you look through all the crap, the kid was overtalented. Awesome reviews son, keep it up.

You CANT get into T-Rex without STARTING with "Bang a Gong", man!!! They have a shitload of cool ass songs, but we ALL start out with "Bang a Gong"...
And thats a hell of a benchmark to judge ALL music by! 😎

A Jeepster is a car. Marc is using cars as metaphors. He calls his woman a Jaguar. He also calls himself a Vampire ( jet propelled car). Sadly Ironic seeing as Marc would die in a car crash at a very young age.

Not sure if you've listened to it but "Bang a Gong" should be next.
