    I took your advice and purchased the x-compact grip for my P320 Compact. I now have the advantage of the upgraded grip module, a slightly longer sight picture, and no LCI obstructing my view. I don't need the removable optics plate or the x-ray sights, and I saved $650. Thanks for the great detailed review.

    Loving my X-Compact so far. Sig has finally done something I didn't think was possible with the X-Series - weaned me off my classic all metal Sigs. I still love the high quality feel of the all-metal classics, but when it comes to what I reach for day in and day out, it's the X.

    Great thorough review as always. I just had my one year anniversary with my G19 Gen 5 that I spent all year training and shooting exclusively and though still not a Glock fan-boy, I am very pleased with the Glock. I’ve been considering getting a Beretta 92 variant or a Sig 320 as a fun range toy since my two G19’s have satisfied my personal and home defense needs so well. Sort of on the fence as maybe the money for another gun might be better spent on more training in 2019...

    got my Xcarry for $600....my recent XCompact-PRO for $559. The Pro has a smaller rear sight that stays in place enabling co-witnessing...and the plate screws are visible on top of slide so no need to take slide guts apart to reach two optic mounting screws. Sig. Better value than a Glock....better gun too.

    Good review. Thanks for putting it out there. I do wonder if your review would be different given the the more accurate street price of about $650. At that price, compared to Glock 19, M&P 2.0 Compact, etc. the upgrades on the X-Compact seem to be much more inline for price. Night sights upgraded from a standard pistol is at least $75. Optic cut (if you want to add that to a standard pistol) is at least $75. I know Sig had several bad batches of tritium but that seems to have been fixed (crazy you got three bad ones.) Plus added features like the undercut, flared magwell, beaver tail, etc. I'd say that this gun seems to have plenty of value. All that said, I do like your video (first one I've seen) and will be sure to check out some others. Thanks!

    Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking at possibly getting an X-Carry and then saw they were coming out with an X-Compact, and I was curious about the differences between the two. I’ve found some X-Carry pistols for about $650 online. I’ve been a bit worried because I’ve heard of people having some reliability issues with them: failure to go into battery, failure to eject and your mention of the tritium sights. Maybe I’ll just stick with my M&P 2.0 compact, haha. I’ve done Trijicon HD night sights and an Apex trigger and I love it. Just looking for an excuse to blow some of my tax return money.

    Mine actually came to me with the tritium out of the front sight! I put the tlr 7 light on mine with the 1913-2 adapter that it came with. That allowed it to fit nice and flush to the trigger guard. I bought a Delta point pro to throw on it with the rear sight attachment and an Ameriglo .400 front sight to cowitness. That did the trick for me!

    Really enjoyed your review. Very informative and helpful. I found it interesting that you were noticeably more critical of the X-Compact than the X-Carry even though they share many of the same features, ie: sights and trigger most specifically. Have your opinions of the X-Carry changed in a like fashion since you reviewed it? As I recall you reviewed the X-Carry in a very positive manner. BTW.... paid $679 for my X-Compact, certainly not as good a deal as the $650 I paid for my X-Carry with the Romeo1 but still quite a bit cheaper than you paid for your X-Compact. Thanks again for your reviews.

    • @jhelmsing
      @jhelmsing  5 лет назад

      I think a lot of it is because the X-Carry was the harbinger. You couldnt get an X grip module, flat trigger or any if those without buying the gun when I reviewed it. Now that all of that is available as an add on it kinda waters down the package to some fancy serrations and an optics ready slide you can't cowitness. The X-Carry also has a different barrel as part of the package.

    • @jameslobsinger7326
      @jameslobsinger7326 5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for replying so quickly! I have since watched your review of the M17 which was posted only about 6 months ago and you spoke positively about the XRAY3 front sight and the trigger much like the X-Carry, so I was curious to see if you had a true change in opinion concerning the various P320 pistols or if you truly were not all that impressed with that specific X-Compact even though it has the same sight set-up as the X-Carry and M17 and basically the same trigger. I do see your point about having the features specific to the X- line of pistols no longer being exclusive, and it makes sense. I find your reviews very informative and well done.

    • @jhelmsing
      @jhelmsing  5 лет назад

      @@jameslobsinger7326 Thanks! This gun is very nice, don't get me wrong. The M-17 doesn't have the x-ray 3 sights. It has a similar rear plate but a special front that is more narrow and has a larger white dot than the regular sights. I actually like that sight setup the best overall as far as the factory Sig offerings 👌this X-compact has the same rear plate which is very nice. If I keep it I'll be switching out the front sight for one from Ameriglo more than likely.

    Sorry for the long comment but...keep your vids as they were, it's worked out well for you. Thanks for being the first to mention about the co witness issue. Other content creators either don't realize it or refuse to bring it up. For a carry gun that alone has ruined it for me, for obvious reasons. And yes, the cost is ridiculous. One could just buy the P320RX Compact for $8 something or probably less now, and wait for Sig to release the X Carry grip, that way one could have it all, Romeo1 and co witness included. Please stay true to your oath to our Constitution my friend, stay safe, and thank you for your service to our country. Thanks for your honest reviews, you are much appreciated out here.

    I bought an Xcompact grip for my subcompact, and although I like the grip the slide release sticks out and does snag. The p320 std grip have the raised plastic around the slide release to keep it from snagging and it works. Why they did not design it into the X grip indicates that they may be getting out of touch. The higher price indicates it too, they seem to want to make everything a Legion.

    The P320 platform is my "go too" as my EDC. It's the pistol I spend the majority time shooting. I just shoot it best and that brings confidence. This being said . . I prefer the regular P320 in the compact. I prefer the grip and ergos. My P320C has the Apex flat trigger (shoe only) and Ameriglo Hackathorn night sights. Other than these two mods . . fairly stock. I prefer it over the X series. There is a no bigger Sig fan than I. However, the P320 X Compact asking price does not offer enough value to justify the price. IMO

    I agree that the xcompact does not add enough to spend the money. Secondly, maybe it's me, but I may like the original P320 grip better. I like the rounded feel and how it fills the hand . . I find it comfortable. The P320 Compact is my primary edc . . the pistol I train with and rely upon. Changes are scrutinized. My decision was different night sights (Ameriglo Hackathorn . . I like the bright tritium front sight and blacked out rear). Secondly, installed the Apex flat trigger. IMO, I spent money wiser and have added meaningful improvement. I made the transition to the P320 platform from the G19 as my edc and have zero regrets. I have a safe full of pistols, I am an enthusiast, and enjoy all of them. For me, my opinion and preferences, theP320 platform offers ease of maintenance, value, reliability and shootability. I really enjoy this pistol.

    It's a great comment to say that these x models for carry aren't different enough to justify the price. I think if they wanted to do a good x carry or x compact right, they should have done what beretta did with the px4 storm compact and Langdon tactical. Change the trigger to better break and weight and include a romeo pro for 7 to 800.

    Hoping to find videos of average-sized men standing up and showing what a concealed carry situation looks like with the p320 xcompact. I can carry this thing appendix with no holster but with an iwb holster with no sidecar and a regular, casual-fit tee shirt, the bulge protrusion is completely ridiculous. The entire rig is just too thick.
    It seems I’m going to have to get a hold of an m&p shield to actually conceal a pistol in the summertime. I’m 6’1” tall, 176lbs with a 32-33” waist.
    At any rate, the sig sauer p320 xcompact with a tlr-7 and romeo 1pro and a 17rd mag inserted is a super-handsome firearm. And you can just adjust the rmr to the extreme if co-witnessing is an absolute must but I have my red dot adjusted so the dot is in the center of the window for really decent shot placement at 25yds - very fast target acquisition.

    So, I'm pretty much at the decision that the X Compact is not worth buying, for me. I am a big fan of the P320 series and I own the P320C, SC and X Carry. The X Compact grip module might be nice to get later. A much more affordable option to the X Compact would be the excellent M&P M2.0 Compact 3.6.
    I agree with you on the sights. I found I'm more accurate with the standard P320 Sig night sights. Never had an XRay3 fail though. I have to disagree with you on shooting the P320 accurately is more difficult and had to be worked at. I found the P320 really easy to shoot accurately when new to the platform. I shot it much better from the start than I ever did with Flicks, FN, CZ and M&P.

      The trigger seems to be a different animal. Some people shoot them really easily and some people have to work at it. I'm in the latter mainly because of the way it pulls after the "wall". "Not as accurate as the bigger guns"
    Wrong Mercury!
    I have a P365, X-compact, and X-carry and that's how they rank in accuracy (for me and in my hands) anyway.
    I think there's an advantage (accuracy wise) in the P365 having full length rails.
    The accuracy difference is barely noticeable but can be noticed.

    • @jhelmsing
      @jhelmsing  5 лет назад +1

      I have noticed similar findings in some of my smaller guns. I'm referring more to overall mechanical accuracy potential, not out of the hand. I've pretty much given up on comparing accuracy out of different guns out of the hand because it's largely futile. Small discrepancies in the trigger, ergonomics, ammo and shooter concentration are most likely the factors involved there. In mechanical accuracy, longer is better. Sight radius offers more precision to the shooter, more velocity allows a flatter trajectory and typically better lock-up and more control over bullet spin and velocity this less discrepancy between rounds. If this weren't the case, the box wouldn't exist in competitive shooting and USPSA would be full of pocket rockets.

    • @jhelmsing
      @jhelmsing  5 лет назад

      Perhaps it was a bit misleading. The gun is very accurate, I just didn't find it really any moreso than a standard P320 SC or Compact. In other renditions of the X pistol, you got a different target barrel or more barrel pretension which actually aided in overall accuracy / lock up. This model is largely devoid of any of that, and that is my quibble. If someone asked if they should get a P320 compact for 450$ or a X-compact for 750$ I'd probably side on the standard P320 compact because they are functionally identical. Perhaps the new more ergonomic grip works better with your hands. Even if that's the case, I'm sure it will be available as a stand alone offering / upgrade to the standard P320 due to the modularity of the P320.
