It’s crazy that the best horror I’ve seen in years came out in the last 2 years and nobody seems to have a clue about it. Makes me almost want to keep it to myself. But to not have it in a best list shows how under the radar I guess it flew. 10x better than any of these

I was recently just saying that horror is like paintings, two people can see the same piece and come away either shaken or not seeing what the hoopla was about. This list is really amazing, a couple of new ones for me to see. I agree with your top pick being When Evil Lurks, the anguish of it and hopelessness. So well done. I had to watch it slow due to the subtitles but it was worth the grind. Congrats on 30k subs !!!

There were two or three scenes in When Evil Lurks that had me literally jumping out of my seat (like the dog scene) and that has never happened to me before (and I had to rewind those scenes to confirm I just saw that). Those scenes were more of a sucker punch than a jump scare.
The Outwaters is great Cosmic Horror. Saw it three times and still couldn’t explain what happened. But there is a lot of foreshadowing in the first half that leaves a few clues.
    Anyway, Happy Halloween brother!

Can't wait to watch these, especially The Outwaters - I can never get enough of that primal Cosmic Horror! On that note, I'd have to give a shout out to Something In The Dirt (2022) - not out-and-out horror, but a blend of sci-fi and impending dread with a cosmic Lovecraftian leaning...and it's directed & written (also starring) Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the geniuses behind Spring, Resolution, the Endless and Loki Season 2...seriously worth a look in!

I really like how you put the title of the movie down in the corner when showing the previews and talking about them.
Yours is the only channel I have seen do this and wish they all did.

I was so disappointed by a Malum. I don’t understand why he’d reboot it. It’s not even that old. I thought the first one was way better.

I really enjoy Aussie horror, comedy-horror, and their sci-fi/comedy too. They have such a unique ourlook on these genres, always enjoyable to watch. Housebound is a great horror-comedy with a stunning twist, and just released on Prime here in UK is Bloody Hell (2020), starring Ben O'Toole and he was in another Aussie sci-fi/horror/comey favourite called Nekrotronic (2018).

@@ericduke2318 Just found it on Amazon marketplace on blu ray. Very chuffed as often the good Aussie horror/sci-fi movies are difficult to get on blu ray outside of Oz. So it's being added to the to-be-watched pile for Xmas. Just have to find Nekrotronic, Australiens, and a couple of others I have on a to-buy list too.

Super awesome list! I already own most of these and by far one of the better years for horror fans. To me the scariest movie this year so far was "no one will svae you." Like you i eas floored. I thought i was going to just watch a "horror" movie with one of the girls from "last man standing", and was blown away by how awesome she and the movie itself was

Outwaters was the STUPIDEST most thrown together, slapstick, roughshod piece of crap I’ve ever seen. Not good. Not scary. Not cohesive. Not plausible. And most DEFINITELY NOT WORTH the hour and a half wasted watching it. This movie is EASILY forgettable and not even worth the watch out of curiosity.

Talk to Me was exceptional as was Evil Dead Rise and No One Will Save You. I didn't care for Malum or it's original predecessor, though the original was a bit more gritty. I'm super interested in seeing The Outwaters. Looks fantastic.

The Outwaters is what you get when you have no budget and no ideas, but still want to "make a movie" (I'd argue they didn't even make a movie, they just filmed some stuff then put a handful of probably free sound effects over it in editing.) The entire concept is "what if some people went into the desert and *something* happened?" Nothing specific, just something. And they didn't even make an effort into showing "something" happening. It's found footage so it's cool if none of it is in frame, or it's dark, or the camera is moving to fast to see that there isn't anything to see, right? Just layer 4 or 5 stock sound FX over the nothing footage to suggest something weird happened. The fact that anyone liked this is either sad, or highly encouraging that anyone can make a "movie" with almost zero effort as long as they have 3 or 4 friends to "star" in it over a weekend of filming.
