Really good to see The Serpent and the Raindow get a mention. Definitely the most underrated and creative horror that Craven did. Some of the scares are terrific.
The ruins is underated. I've seen so many ppl ripping on it. When I first watched it I went in knowing nothing at all and thought it was pretty clever and good. Especially the cell phone ring scene. Not perfect but diffrent and in a good way
One of the reasons I love this channel is that you will recommend stuff like Nightcrawler. Gyllenhaal really, really excels in dark and/or quirky roles. Donnie Darko was amazing and he nailed it in that movie and then there was another horror centric movie he did that I can't recall the name of where he runs into someone that looks just like him and it's a really cool movie as well.
I really dig Excision. Anna Lynn was disturbing as hell in it. I love finding these under the radar movies and making the other fireman at my station watch them. You’re always a big help finding some of these Indy types. Thanks man! PS. Loved Candyland too!
I am SO glad someone else mentioned Excision. I've had it since bluray release and I LOVE it. You should check out Bad Biology (off topic, but yeah lol).
Awesome list!! You are so right, Serpent & the Rainbow is a outstanding horror file that is underappreciated . I still need to see Nightcrawler & The Ruins, they've been on my list for awhile.
Im a die hard Hellraiser fan. Pinhead has always been my favorite horror character and I even love III and Bloodline. I thought the new one was great! I was so nervous going in, since its my favorite horror series, but I wasn't disappointed one bit. This movie is absolutely slept on!!
Just subscribed from “across the pond” 🇬🇧on the quality of this vid buddy. A big film buff myself and always looking for something I haven’t seen which I’m sure I’d like. Thanks for this! Look forward to many other reviews! 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸😎
Strange Darling is probably the best horror flick I've seen in years. A brilliant film! Candy Land is criminally underrated....I love that film. Nightcrawler is disturbing and very dark.
Another terrific list thanks GP. I’m glad that you’re including some movies that aren’t specifically horror because I love your reviews. Your comments are always spot on and I really appreciate your concise, thoughtful reviews. When you reviewed the Serpent and the Rainbow you reminded me of another from around that time (in fact I think I watched them close together) called Angel Heart (1987, R18+) with Robert De Niro and Mickey Rourke. If you haven’t seen it you really really should!! I was only 14 (only 14 in 1987 makes me sound ancient!) when it came out but I actually watched it for the first time in the mid 90’s.
I like your format. Thank you for putting, in the bottom left corner, the Movie Name | Year - Streaming Service. This saves me a lot of time because I don't need to back up your video to find where you showed the name, then Google it, and look for where to watch. And you have the video divided into chapters for each video. Bravo Sir. Most excellent.
I was so stoked that you recommended "The Serpent and the Rainbow", one of my faves from the 80s. I watch this all the time (i have the dvd), and it's still an incredible mindbend of a film. All your suggestions sound so good, I can't wait to check them out! Thank you so much for all you do!
I am waiting for Strange Darling on VOD but it looks amazing. I loved "Coming Home in the Dark" and how it twists and I really liked the new Hellraiser and the puzzle box having all these different configurations being defined. Serpent and the Rainbow was one of the first movies I saw as a young person that really got to me psychologically.
I really appreciate that you repeat a movie here and there. I'm always on my phone, outside having a smoke while watching your videos, so I text myself your recommendations and save them to my Roku later, and a lot of times I'll pass over something because I forgot what it was and has no trailer accompanying it so I'll pass over it a bit too much. The one I keep passing over in this case is Excision and it absolutely looks like my kind of disturbing so I think I'm gonna watch it tonight (this morning?). Nobody else can be trusted... THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!
Man.. the Hellraiser remake is very close to my heart.. Clive Barker is my absolute favorite author (everyone talks about his horror but his fantasy is just.. mind bogglingly amazing as well) and i .. LOVED it. Absolutely adored it!! I loved the artistry, how it was a breath of fresh air into the story rather than just rehashing the same old ideas.
Really like Imajica, got really pissed off with him in regards to The Great and Secret Show. No the third book as a graphic novel doesn't freaking count Clive. Could heart canyon and The thief of Always are good reads as well.
You never cease to amaze me. Piggy is AMAZING! And you dug DEEP with The Ruins. I can't believe it's from 2008! I'm a huge B&W classic movie fan but I don't know if I've seen Horror Hotel so I'll check it out. Thanks!
Maaannn…The Serpent & the Rainbow is a classic & one of my ALL TIME FAVS. It doesn’t get enough love. Appreciate you putting it on your list. Your channel is Top Tier
I starting following you over a year ago and I’m sure you spoke a bout Bone Tomahawk, The Autopsy of Jane Doe and The Devil’s Candy which all 3 are very underrated, especially the Horrific scene in the mountains of Bone Tomahawk where I tried to show some of my friends and they couldn’t finish watching that scene of the dismemberment.
Hey! Have you done a list for highly highly recommended black and white movies? You could do one supernatural and one psychological/slasher. Or just best of. Whichever, love the lists. Keep up the great work.
Horror Hotel is a perfect movie to watch during a night thunderstorm, with a hot cup of tea and a cat on your lap. In Serpent 🌈 , the guy who plays the secret police chief/witch doctor is probably one of the most underrated horror villains of all time, very menacing and intimidating.
I LOVE The Serpent and the Rainbow. Especially the callback to traditional zombie lore (i.e. White Zombie) where the living become helpless servants to the one that creates them. While the modern mindless swarm zombies can be scary, there is not the level of terror at the thought of having your free will striped from you and becoming a helpless, obedient slave.
Ahh The Serpent and the Rainbow, i had on VHS. I love that you talk about the oldies that are soo good. I remember the film bothered me a bit growing up. lol .
NightCrawler was GREAT! I wouldn't say Horror, but the darkness that exists in that film affected me, and I'm like you. Movies don't scare, not in a long time, I saw "When a Stranger Calls" when I was effing 6 years old, and to this day in my middle age it still haunts me, and nothing has hit me that hard since, so you don't get it unless you've had something like that in your experience. But Nightcrawler didn't touch me in horror, but it did in terms of demonstrating modern day darkness and cynicism. It's something special.
I love The Ruins, never get bored of watching it. Excision is a very gory movie but is excellent but that ending. The Serpant and the Rainbow has to be one of my favourite 80s horror movies along with The Belivers and The Lair of the Whiteworm.
Thank you for your recommendations. I really appreciate how you describe the movies and give your thoughts without spoiling anything. You've introduced me to new movies to check out. You have a new subscriber :)
Love this list..so many I haven't seen but now must. I know what I'm doing this Labor day weekend. Thanks GP😊 btw..saw Piggy as an Alter short and felt I wish the story went on..and now I see they made a feature. So glad and will see
I watched Piggy per your recommendation several months ago and found the story line very relatable with regard to her being bullied. It’s interesting how from country to country we have many differences, and yet as human beings we have so many more commonalities! Really great pick!
I'm excited for Excision! And you know I was bullied, too, and just like you, I found Piggy to be incredible, definitely a favorite. Falling for the serial killer felt familiar, somehow. I'm still trying to accept Hellraiser, as steeped in the lore as I am, but I'm going to watch it again! I do miss the good old fashioned S&M gear. Thank you for the movies, it'll keep me busy!
I love your recommendations!!! The serpent and the rainbow is such a banger! I first saw it when I was like 12 yrs old and it really freaked me out, lol! 😹 it was really dark and super creepy! One of my favs for sure! And Nightcrawler is amazing! Jake gyllenhaal’s performance is brilliant! Awesome list… Thank you KB! ❤️
I forgot about Excision. Very dark strange, and uncomfortable, and very good. I love City of the Dead, i Adore the period having grown up in the 60s and 70s. My generation saw many classics on TV. Excellent
Yeah, talk about B&W classics more! I ain't never seen Horror Hotel/City of the Dead, and apparently I need to get over to Tubi to check it out, thanks!
k second time, think yt is fn up (as usual) resubbed. Big TY for all you do here. cant watch the ghost movies (freak this ol grandpa out) but love zombies and the psycho killers...ty ty ty
A friend of mine, she is an absolute horror connoisseur, far more than even me. She saw Strange Darling at Frightfest in London recently and said it was amazing. Can't wait 🤙
Usually once a week, I'll go through Tubi and find a classic B&W horror movie to watch. I grew up with many of them in the 60s and they're great for hit of nostalgia.
I would be interested in a video of JUST classics to see what you suggest. You have to have House of Long Shadows, if for no other reason than watch Vincent Price call his dear friend Christopher Lee a "Bitch" 🤣😂🤣 I really wonder how many takes that one took because I can't imagine either of them keeping a straight face.
Christopher Lee is one of the most underrated actors of all time. The man was a Workhorse and that gave him a bad name as a B level actor with his Hammer films. Peter Cushing, who also an amazing actor gets more credit than Chris, meanwhile WHY they are underrated is because the took jobs with good stories. They are Actors in the terms of the ART, because those two fuckers on a screen just chew it up with their presence.
Candy Land was my favorite film of 2023 (even though it came out in 22, I guess). Regardless, it was the best movie I saw last year, Absolutely loved everything about it! Great list as always. Keep up the good work!
The Serpeant and the Rainbox is a OG MUST WATCH!!!! This was when horror was actually good. lol Serpeant and the Rainbow, along with Angel Heart are two of my all time OG favorites.
Strange Darling was fkin great!!! Watched it on a whim not knowing anything about it. It's based on a true story but hehhh, definitely can see a lil fiction added.
I FUCKING LOVED! The Serpent and The Rainbow. It's a nonsense movie, everything is nonsense, but everything is so mindfucking that it works in a way that I really haven't seen other than "American Psycho."
Just saw Strange Darling last night due to your recommendation. Now that was a fun ride! Thanks!!!
THE RUINS - a brilliant, criminally underrated, awesome horror film!!!!!
Yeah!
Totally.
The Ruins is one of my all time favorite horror movies. It's everything i love about horror.. how absolutely one of a kind it is.
So glad you featured The Serpent and the Rainbow. It deserves to be rediscovered. The book is SO good, too.
Such a great movie! I saw it in the theater when it first came out. Very awesome way to see it.
It is great
Defo. Gonna watch it again now. Been a while. Thanks for the reminder! 👍✌️
I had totally forgotten about The Serpent and the Rainbow. Yep, that one is going on my list!!
Not perfect but diffrent and in a good way
Night crawler is a fantastic movie and one of his finest acting roles.
Prisoners is another stellar performance.
I totally agree
Enemy is good too
Thanks for starting to include some of the b&w classics. There are so many of them.
If you haven't, I recommend Island of Lost Souls.
Enemy, directed by Denis Villenueve.
@@Teddy-t5h yes! It is bonkers
Excision is one of my favorites!!
It’s a masterpiece that went too unnoticed
@@GekkoBat YES, I completely agree
Nightcrawler is definitely a good movie and really surprised me how dark it was.
Awesome list!! You are so right, Serpent & the Rainbow is a outstanding horror file that is underappreciated . I still need to see Nightcrawler & The Ruins, they've been on my list for awhile.
Spot on about Piggy. I hope it gets more audience love as well. It's very worth the watch.
Piggy was great....I really hated those bullies but I'm glad she didn't turn out to be on their level. Really good film.
Happy to see you cracked the 50k subs my friend. Keep up the great work ❤
Im a die hard Hellraiser fan. Pinhead has always been my favorite horror character and I even love III and Bloodline.
I thought the new one was great! I was so nervous going in, since its my favorite horror series, but I wasn't disappointed one bit. This movie is absolutely slept on!!
Hellraiser 3 was underrated and probably one of my all time favorite, Bloodline was very good too.
Always looking forward to the Ghost Pirate. Appreciate you

Horror Hotel is one of my all time favorites. Creepy, spooky, witches, dark, foggy and Christopher Lee! "The Shadow of the cross!"
Thank you so much for recommending Horror Hotel! Love the classics, especially with Christopher Lee
Strange Darling is probably the best horror flick I've seen in years. A brilliant film!
Candy Land is criminally underrated....I love that film.
Nightcrawler is disturbing and very dark.

I’m glad someone mentioned Coming Home in the Dark. That movie lingered long after the credits for me. Brutal, brutal film
yeah im watching that 2 nite with my popcorn and Canada Dry

Yeah I’ll ones I’ve recommended they are great
YES - more classics! ❤
I picked up The Ruins novel on vacation this summer. What a great beach read! Now I have to rewatch the movie.
I'm glad to see Kyle Gallner is still getting on the big screen
Saw strange darling last weekend. So good
My sister and I randomly watched The Ruins one night and it's become one of my favorites since.
Horror Hotel is one of my all time favorite movies. It really does have great atmosphere and an excellent choice for a Halloween watch.
The weekend started great with a 2 Highlys post. Yeahhh😎🎉💪
Hey! Have you done a list for highly highly recommended black and white movies? You could do one supernatural and one psychological/slasher. Or just best of. Whichever, love the lists. Keep up the great work.

Great reviews. Thank you for creating a list that I could look at.
Ahh The Serpent and the Rainbow, i had on VHS. I love that you talk about the oldies that are soo good. I remember the film bothered me a bit growing up. lol .
Strange Darling is from the director who owned and ran Freaklin Bros haunt (gates of hell) with his dad!
I have such a crush on that Kyle guy...smile
Loved "The Ruins", I had the book, which got me interested in the movie.
Killer list buddy, you rock!
City of the dead was incredible. Such a wonderful movie just dripping with ambience and dread. Gorgeous.
NightCrawler was GREAT! I wouldn't say Horror, but the darkness that exists in that film affected me, and I'm like you. Ohh yes!!!! The Serpent and the Rainbow!
Great picks I saw Coming Home in the Dark last time you recommended it. It was incredible. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I know but I liked it😂😂😂😂
Thank you 🙏
I really liked The Ruins
The movie was actually better than the book.
I liked that movie too
I never thought of Nightcrawler as a horror film when I watched it but now I certainly see how it is. Jake Gyllenhaal plays one dark ass character.
strange darling is sooooooo underrated right now. and good recommendation with piggy...just finished watching it. I relate so much to it
Yeah it’s gaining steam though!
I love The Ruins, never get bored of watching it. Excision is a very gory movie but is excellent but that ending. The Serpant and the Rainbow has to be one of my favourite 80s horror movies along with The Belivers and The Lair of the Whiteworm.
Black Death w/ Sean Bean is a ... The ending still haunts me.
Serpent and The Rainbow is based on the life of Voodoo Priest Max Beauvoir. His nephew is musician Jean Beauvoir (Plasmatics, the Ramones, KISS)
I absolutely loved NightCrawler. ALSO the HellRaiser remake doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves
Love your content.. thanks for staying awesome🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for your recommendations. I really appreciate how you describe the movies and give your thoughts without spoiling anything. You've introduced me to new movies to check out. You have a new subscriber :)
oh nice! i should be able to make this one right when it drops!!
Candy Land is... wow. Watched it on your recommendation and glad I did. Thanks. New Hellraiser is so underrated.
Thanks for the lead on Piggy, I thought it was Great. Did you see " Butchers Book Two: Raghorn" it's right up your alley for sure.
Love this list..so many I haven't seen but now must. I know what I'm doing this Labor day weekend. Thanks GP😊 btw..saw Piggy as an Alter short and felt I wish the story went on..and now I see they made a feature. So glad and will see
strange darling is amazing. great watch
I could watch Coming Home in the Dark over and over again.
I watched Piggy per your recommendation several months ago and found the story line very relatable with regard to her being bullied. It’s interesting how from country to country we have many differences, and yet as human beings we have so many more commonalities! Really great pick!
Candy Land was a great recommendation. I saw it earlier this year.
My thoughts on Hellraiser is the lead is Kirstie. In the comics, she takes over from the male Pinhead. So…that context makes it even better.
“The Ruins” was a great book horrifying. If they keep to the book, it looks that way…should be an amazing movie.
I haven’t read the book but I really like the movie. 👍
The movie ending isn’t nearly as dark as the book’s. That’s one of my favorite ending sequences in any book ever!
Unfortunately, the movie isn't as good as the book, imo.
Just watched Strange Darling and LOVED it! A really fun and wild ride. Will have to watch that on again.

I saw the serpent and the rainbow at a similar age. It scared the shit out of me.

I remember Serpent and the Rainbow when I was young. I just couldn't ever recall the name of the movie.
I LOVED Piggy!!! So good I watched it twice.
Excision looks wow!!!

“Titane “ is another movie I recommend. It’s a French movie that came out 2022( I believe)
Yes it’s fantastic
Christopher Lee is one of the most underrated actors of all time. The man was a Workhorse and that gave him a bad name as a B level actor with his Hammer films.
Great stuff.
Goran Visnjic is just so suave and graceful in Hellraiser. It's like the guy was born to wear expensive suits.
Excision is awesome. Great recommendation.
I FUCKING LOVED! The Serpent and The Rainbow. It's a nonsense movie, everything is nonsense, but everything is so mindfucking that it works in a way that I really haven't seen other than "American Psycho."
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE RUclips ARTIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aw thank you 😊
