I love the way vampires are portrayed in 30 Days of Night. They're animals. I tend to like unusual depictions of vampires. Romero's Martin, Near Dark and Ganja and Hess are other favorites.
I feel like they didn’t go animalistic enough and that’s what pulls me out. They come accross as humans and then they do that weird bird language and I start laughing. It’s so close to being a scary movie for me but I always get taken out.
Me too! I prefer it to the comic - the artwork was so sketchy and impressionistic, I often couldn’t tell what was happening. But the movie is so well set up. And shot that I always knew where I was.
I have such fond memories of watching Them! with my great grandmother when it aired on TV one summer afternoon in the very early 80s. I never knew the name of the movie, so it took years for me to find out and then find a DVD. I imagine more have, but you're the first RUclipsr that I've seen mention it. A lot of great stuff on this list. We're of a like mind. Great video!
Oh man I'm so happy to see Clown get the love and appreciation it deserves, I've loved that many for so many years and like you was blown away how dark and depraved it is.....definitely worth checking out
The issue with lot of these youtubers is that they have some preconceived idea of what vampires\zombies\werewolves\etc are and when movie doesn't depict them in the way they think they are, they call it "stupid" and "not true" or whatever, despite that these are all fictional entities and rules are setup by each individual movie itself. I kinda like that vampires in this movie are more primal and animalistic, because that's how they are in folklore.
So glad to see The Frighteners on this list. After watching your Halloween list a couple of weeks ago I noticed this one wasn’t on it. I immediately found it on a Tubi and watched it. It’s one of my favorites and a really good watch for this time of year. Very happy to see you feel the same way.
I love The Frighteners. Besides it being highly entertaining, I watched it with my dad around the time it came out, and now that he's gone, it's become a very fond memory.
Keep em coming! We doomscroll Tubi trailers every night, but none of these have popped up. Last decent find was "You're Next," with a great surprise appearance by Ti West. Hyped for Terrifier 3!
Kanan, you bring such fun vibes to the horror recommendation channel scene. I absolutely love watching your style and substance and personality even when I don't have the service (tubi and shudder) I still watch 😂 The white mask is giving artistic "The Strangers" 90s A24 horror. ❤
Ghoul is criminally underrated and more people should be talking about it. I think it’s one of the most disturbing and genuinely scary found footage films out there.
Another FF movie that I found really genuine and it really gets under your skin is, "The Borderlands" (aka. Final Prayer). It really flew under the radar but probably one of the very few (if not only) found footage horror movies that I found believable in terms of why, and how, it is being filmed.
Tubi, imo, has always had the best horror selection out there. So many gems i have found over there. Some of these great horror movies, like It Follows, would never have gotten the attention it got without these free steaming services like tubi.

I'm always so pleased when a true classic like Them makes the list. I've been trying to watch Braid for a long time, but it never seemed to be playing in Canada - then I found it on Tubi under the title Dying to Play - can't wait to watch it!
Please check out Alison's Birthday on Tubi. It's an Aussie film from the 70's. It's a witch/occult film. It's awesome! Great Review as per usual! The Frighteners is AWESOME!! You were mentioned on Cody Leach's review of Fantastic Fest! You, Cody Leach, Adam Does Movies, Sean Chandler, Spooky Astronauts & Possessed by Horror are among my faves!!
The first time I saw THEM!, I was about 7, and I saw it on a theater screen with a projector, outside while on a camping trip with other Mormon families. It was such a fun way to see it! I haven't seen it in decades - definitely going to watch it!

I caught the The 30 days of night comic by Steve Niles when it was released and loved it and was stoked for the movie and it was awesome in theaters. It still stands as one of the better vampire movies out there. I've always wanted to see Steve Niles other comics made into movies "Remains" and "Dark days the sequel to "30 days of night" was ok . They need to make "Criminal Macabre: The Cal MacDonald mysteries" into a movie . I know Thomas Jane had modeled as Cal for some comic covers and there was talks for a movie but it for whatever reason never happened. The Frighteners is a classic and "Your in my territorial bubble" is one of my favorite quotes from this movie. Another great video Keep up the great work 🤙🏼.
Interestingly enough (I have cable) Turner Classic Movies trots out "THEM!" on a pretty regular basis. And "The Frighteners" is a pretty damn good Peter Jackson film; I should really get a DVD of it.
I love the way vampires are portrayed in 30 Days of Night. They're animals. I tend to like unusual depictions of vampires. Romero's Martin, Near Dark and Ganja and Hess are other favorites.

Thanks for helping me remember about The Frighteners movie. Have not seen that in years! 30 Day of Night is one of my favorites. I cherish the links the sheriff takes to remove the vampires! It is so sad, but his love over rules! To me that is the ultimate ending! ❤
Yeah I just only recommend movies people can stream. Because of a wider audience can access
I’m so used to CGI that I didn’t want to rewatch the Frighteners. I’ll watch. I’m old, not dead, yet.
I love The Frighteners! One of my absolute favorite movies ever!
