    So excited about your book! That's such an amazing achievement and something great to focus on. So interested to hear about your self-publishing journey too. And a London trip is another perfectly timed thing to look forward to! ❤️🇬🇧❤️So sorry to hear about your breakup, it sounds like it's been a tough time for you and I think it's really brave of you to open up about it like this. I'm sure it wasn't easy but I hope having done it has taken a bit of a weight off your shoulders and given you the freedom to be more honest about how you're feeling. Sending lots of love and positive vibes your way. My year has been up and down - totally feel you on the freelance front! I've been full time freelance for a year now and it is HARD. Rewarding, and the flexibility is incredible, but very tough at times! Like you say though, I can't believe how fast this year has gone by so far - how are we almost halfway through July already?! Hope the rest of your summer is a bit easier, keep up the self-care, it sounds like you're doing all the right things! x

      I can't wait to be able to share more about the book! I'm so excited for people to be able to read it! I will definitely talk more about the self-publishing process as I go along. I'm so excited to go to London again, it will be a much needed distraction and something to look forward to. Totally relate to you on the freelance front! So many positives but also so tough! Hope you're having a nice summer and getting some warm sunny days. :) xx

    You touch on some super important mental health things, to learn to take time and how to actually be patient and just not "wish time away" (a accurate way of putting it). I know these hard times of really working through those hurting feelings is hard but for me when I've done it, I have felt much more free! I think it is so good that you're putting it out there to work through everything. That friend that gave you the piece of advice "Don't let this have an impact on how you see yourself." That is so good in all aspects in life, we are in control of what we do so it is easy to look on ourselves, but instead it is better to have confidence in our kindness and we did our best. Lots of good advice in this video! Very glad about all the good news! Even the extra naps and yoga time and now monetized videos :) yay! And the NOVEL! and LONDON! Lots and lots of good things to look forward too :)

      Being willing and able to slow down and really feel everything I'm feeling and not just try to sweep it a way and rush through this process. It's so hard but so important in the long run. And omg I can't wait to share more about the novel and I can't wait to take you all to London again with me! :)

    You are a joy and an inspiration on more levels than you could imagine, so thank you for sharing and gifting me/us your heart, everytime you post, A, and especially today! You lift me UP when I watch, so here are a few little heart-hugs from my connected place and space of humanity/unity/friendshilp💛 and Godly ❤ love! I don't believe in "Getting over it/things"; I believe in "Going through it/them is getting and living through it and past it" at your own pace in your own time, 'place and space', mentally, physically, and spirtually"! I love you loving you even more, and using your uniquely appreciated and personally positive UPlifts (loving-you steps) needed to go through all of the living in life! And HOW AWESOME, I can't wait to buy your first self-published novel--I know it will be authentically yours, and an adventurous and challenging undertaking that you are absolutely up for and fully capable and will accomplish splendidly; so I look surprisingly forward to finding a rare and pleasurable escape into a Romance novel, which is not normally my subject matter/genre, but for and out of sincere admiration and respect for you as a fibro-friend, an awesomely courageous and accomplished academic, and an all-around genuinely inspirational individual who teaches me relatable grace, tenacity, and joyFILLED happy practices, everytime I watch. So I will buy it and many more because you/we always have something to say (in a manuscript and online), if we read/listen with our opened hearts. So yeah, I'll be there in the bookstore, (yes, I'm still a brick and mortar fan☺) or online; whichever, "She Ready" to read!! 😉🤗 So happy and joyFILLED for
    you, on every level that matters to and for you. And it's so great that your Mom is going off to London as well--that is soo cool and I imagine her pride overflows at the thought of you! So many exciting moments and memories to be made, experienced, shared, and forever cherished--that is sooo special--ENJOY IT ALL!--and so many more blessings to come! 072019

      Aww thank you so much! Your comments always make me happy. I'm so excited to share more about the book with you. I'm hoping people will like it even if romance isn't their usual choice. It's so much more than a romance, it's just easier to to call it that lol. :) And I'm so happy that my mom is able to come with me, it's going to be. so much fun. :)

    Andrea, I'm so sorry to hear about the tough times you've been going through. I've been quite busy in the past few months so I haven't been able to keep up with the vlogs in "real time" but I'm slowly catching up with them. As you know I love watching your vlogs because you are so relateable and the vlogs have such a cozy feel. But I do usually watch your other videos whenever you upload them.
    I'm sorry to hear about the break-up but I'm so glad that you have supportive friends, family and your therapist to help you get through it. I wish you all the energy and positivity you need in this time and hope you'll be able to continue with the much-needed self-care. It really is the best you can do except just giving it time...

      @AndreaJSeverson  5 лет назад +1

      Seriously, every time someone says my vlogs feel cozy I get so happy, it's the best compliment I could get about the vlog. :) I hope you're doing ok and taking some time to rest during your busy schedule. I can't wait to share more about the book with you all and to take you all to London with me! And thank you so much for being so supportive and understanding when I don't upload as many videos or as frequently as usual. Friends like you on here are what makes it so worth it to keep making videos. :)

    So happy to hear about your book!! I have dived head first into reading for self care this year (after neglecting my favorite hobby for too long). Of course, I would buy your book just because you wrote it, but I’m even more excited to hear it is a romance because I’ve recently discovered that I’m becoming more interested in romance as a genre. I’ve been having a summer that is similar to yours, in that it has been a mix of rest and work so far. It has been a nice month or so to just breathe before ~officially~ starting my PhD in the fall. Wishing you a restful, creative, healing, and fulfilling rest of the summer and safe travels to London in the fall! ❤️🇬🇧😊

      I've been reading so much this summer, it's been really helping as self-care and getting through the breakup. I feel like I'm finally getting back to reading as much as I had before grad school. I'm really excited to share my book with you all and to tell you more about it. There's definitely romance in it, but it's also got a lot of other elements. I'm glad to hear you've been having a mix of rest and work, rest is important. Can't wait to watch you start your PhD journey in the fall! So exciting! :)

    That's SO exciting about the book! I knew you were writing but I didn't realize you were 2nd draft editing (now done) That's amazing! Go you! How you've managed to pull that off in the midst of teaching and everything else is really impressive!
    Sorry to hear about the heartache and how that ended up playing out. It's never going to be easy but after all the uncertainty it must have been awful but with a tinge of relief to finally know what was going on even if you never got the why part answered. You seem like you're doing pretty well with it and the way you're able to view the relationship now. I know this will be a somewhat glossed version but still I got no hint of wanting to burn his things or him to the ground so that must be a good sign! (I was going to say something rather pejorative in a girl solidarity type of way
    ... it's not that I don't mean it- too many men are utterly useless, emotionally crippled trash... I just won't say it here- but I'll still be thinking it. 😉🤪)
    Glad to hear you're feeling like you might be filming more. I always enjoy your videos and also feel like that's probably a good sign about how you're feeling, even that you seem way more relaxed when talking about it in this vid- like it's a want not a burden/stress thing you feel you must do. That makes me happy that you're having moments like that (hoping for longer than a moment but moments are still good) I hope the good minutes start accumulating quicker now. I have been itching to be making videos again myself but I don't know if I can manage it atm. I've been blowing veins left, right, and centre bc gravity is apparently my enemy now so trying to would involve a fair bit of planning but... I have really missed contact with people and missed having it as a thing to focus on. The problem beyond my rotting body is I don't know if i could get myself to sound ok and have the conversation seem to flow; I'm rather lonely and it never fully worked when I tried to film when I was this deep in that and not able to do stuff about/around it to take the edge off it in real life as well as online life and I am rather confined to bed atm so not sure how I'd manage either tbh so it's probably somewhat of a moot point no matter how much I'd like to be filming right now.
    Anyways, I'm very proud of you* for putting this all out there and doing what you need to do this year when things have been so tough. You've really dragged yourself through- it looked hard- I'm glad you kept and keep doing it everyday. I hope the mud/quicksand is getting less sticky (I love a bad/awkward metaphor for when I can't quite articulate a deeper emotional this- Sorry!)
    Anyways, will go now- have a very happy sunday and good start to your week! xxx♡♡♡
    *hope this doesn't sound too weird
    edit: OMG I almost forgot one of the most exciting things you said and let me just say LONDON, BABY!!
    AGH!! So excited for you- You must be over the moon after not knowing if you'd get to go this year!! But that's full on fantastic! xxx

    • @AndreaJSeverson
      @AndreaJSeverson  5 лет назад

      I mean, the book has only taken me several years to finish lol, but yeah, it's been really cool to finally have a full manuscript, even if I'm still tinkering with some things. I'm really excited to move forward with it. And I'm sooooo excited about London! I can't wait to take you all along with me and I'm so excited to be presenting at this conference again. I really need to start working on editing that paper lol. October is going to be here before I know it!
      It's funny how our filming routines/uploads are, in a way, a reflection of how we're doing/feeling. It's so true. I always love filming and want to be making videos but when I'm not doing well it's just the last thing I manage to do. I'm really hoping I can start getting back into the swing of things. Thank you for being so supportive, and such a good friend. The break up has been really hard, and believe me, part of me would love to burn his things or shout at him until I'm blue in the face. I'm so angry and confused and sad and hurt and I want to direct all of that at him but I can't, which just makes me angrier. I know it will get better in time, but it sucks right now. I didn't deserve what I got from him. Sigh. Onwards ever, backwards never.

    Looking forward to buying your book! But very sorry for the broken heart. You said it was long distance so I’m curious if he lives in Europe and if that was a reason you spoke often about wanting to move there. If so, does that change your future intentions at all?
    Coincidentally I am being made redundant in October at my corporate job of the last 5 years. Everyone who knows me knows that the job was very taxing and I was going nowhere after several times being overlooked for promotion. My best efforts to find other work have been unsuccessful over the years and I continued to slog through this same work. I’m choosing to view this as the push I needed to find something new and better - or, at the very least, different.
    May your closed door do the same for you. Sounds like you’re off to a promising start. ❤️

    • @AndreaJSeverson
      @AndreaJSeverson  5 лет назад +1

      I'm so glad you're looking forward to my book! I can't wait to be able to tell you all more about it and get it out there! :) Yeah, my ex (still weird thinking of him like that) was in the UK, which was a big factor in wanting to move if not to the UK then at least elsewhere in Europe so there'd be less distance. But I'd wanted to move to the UK or elsewhere in Europe (Germany, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands would all be cool) since looooong before we met. I fell in love with London the first time I visited in 2010 and have dreamt since then of moving to the UK. So the breakup, as painful as it is, doesn't change my intentions of moving there. But it does take some of the pressure in terms of timing off a bit.
      I'm so sorry to hear about your job. I'm sure that it's a mix of emotions, being ready to move on to something else but all the uncertainty of what's next. But as you said, when one door closes, others open and I'm sure something great is around the corner for you. Big hug and lots of positive thoughts!

    • @emiliabolsas
      @emiliabolsas 5 лет назад

      JeSuisJusteMoi That’s a good way of reframing it - that there is less pressure to act quickly on something that is a major life change.
      I appreciate the encouragement on the job front. I had sworn to myself that I would never do on-site contract work in my field - and said no to many offers over the years. But it is undeniable that the pay is really good. As is the idea of being able to pick and choose when I take on a project. And it is a way to explore other firms on a temp basis. So I have started to warm up to the idea and had a surprise call from a recruiter today and also got an offer of an introduction to another firm that direct-hires contractors. This is more movement than I have had in many weeks (months?) of job searching. A woman in my book club tonight even told me that her first contract role lasted 4 years, so that is further endorsement of my plan. The future looks bright.

    • @AndreaJSeverson
      @AndreaJSeverson  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I feel a little lighter now on the moving front, like, I can take my time and wait for the right offer and not feel like I have to accept the first job willing to sponsor a work visa. I'm in a good job for right now and am still recovering from my PhD. Obviously I wish my relationship had turned out differently, but there have been a few silver linings in the whole mess.
      I'm so glad to hear you've been having some forward movement on your job search! I can understand the reluctance to do contract work, and you definitely have to go with your gut and wait for an offer that sounds like a good fit for you, but I can see the positives of contract work. The right company will offer a good contract. I've got my fingers crossed for you! :)

      Yes indeed, a nice new series of vlogs to watch 😀 Have you ever been to Old Spitalfields Market? Lots of nick naks to buy and lots of great street food; covered too so an any weather backup plan.

    • @AndreaJSeverson
      @AndreaJSeverson  5 лет назад

      Oh yes, I've done Spitalfields a few times. So many fun things around there, they always have the most interesting vendors. My friend used to live just behind Liverpool Street Station, so we'd go over to Spitalfields when her first child was still little and push him around in the pram while we browsed the market stalls. :)
