Supreme Kai is so frustrating. He’s supposed to be the guy who’s a thousand times stronger than Frieza and did nothing against either Frieza or Cell, and now all of them are supposed to obey him? If Vegeta blew up that ship, it wouldve killed Babidi, and Dabura. Maybe it wouldve revived Buu, but they couldve ganged up on him and ended it there
It wouldn’t have killed Dabura but he wouldn’t have been an issue to kill after, he probably would’ve protected Babidi too as we’ve seen. We’ve also seen Babidi capable of barriering himself. But still it wouldn’t have hurt chances against Buu
I didn't understand why they wouldn't want to blow up the ship, and just risk reviving Buu. It's clear at this point that Buu doesn't have anywhere near enough energy, so he'd be a lot weaker as a result and would likely be more easily killed. And I'm not saying that because he gets revived thanks to Vegeta, but because I honestly kinda agree with Vegeta on this one that blowing up the ship would have been faster and worth the risk. What threat was Buu going to be with only a portion of energy.
I think the issue is that Supreme Kai assumed that Buu was so strong that he would be able to beat Goku and Vegeta even with less than full power. It's kind of ironic because Babidi was afraid that they WOULD release Buu prematurely which is part of why he kept sending them to other places to fight. But yeah they would be better off blowing up the ship.
The plan is to stop babidi and Dabura from resurrecting Buu. That’s too risky to revive Buu and then to expect Goku and the others to win. Of course supreme kai would not gamble on that.
Vegeta is one of the best characters in anime he speaks about life when he says the mightest survive and the weak shall parish. In life you have to be strong if you want to survive and be successful.

Since a lot of people probably don't know the context, Vegeta was deliberately acting violently to get Babidi's attention. After seeing Goku's new power, Vegeta realized the gap was too great and he needed a... push... to surpass him. And Babidi's magic was just the push he needed.

I find it funny to watch the English version after the Japanese version to see the gap between the two. See when Goku stops Vegeta, he tells him to stop then Vegeta says his name. Then follows the two of them looking at each other without saying a word, in the English version, they still talk to one another. It made me realize that silences play a huge role most of the time.

His emotional and psychological state won't let him be an anti-hero anymore, but a protector of the earth. That is why he doesn't do reckless shit anymore. He loves his family too much, and would die even for a normal earthling.
Something I really appreciate about this scene is Vegeta was right 100% about Gohan’s performance as a warrior and about destroying the ship. But even more importantly, he was right about survival of the fittest. If we think about it from his perspective, strength was what defined his ability to live over twenty years of his life being Frieza’s attack dog, and in order to live that kind of life, he had to be ruthless and remorseless. Allowing an enemy to live simply to continue fighting is not how a warrior should operate. In Vegeta’s mind, the cancer needs to be removed at the source, otherwise it’ll just keep coming back.
But Vegeta's only alive because Goku asked Krillin to spare him in their first battle and later because they revived him with the dragon balls. Just about every time enemies were shown mercy it's paid off in a major way. Piccolo, Vegeta, and the androids were all Goku's enemies bent on killing him that ended up being crucial allies who have saved not only Goku's life but the entire world, galaxy and the universe on multiple occasions. Not to mention Mr.Satan --an utter weakling (compared to any Z fighter) who Vegeta chastised Goku for saving --turned out to be sole reason Goku was able to gather enough energy for the spirit bomb to defeat Kid Buu. Vegeta's no-mercy, survival-of-the-fittest perspective is understandable given his history, but it's a short-sighted narrow way of thinking.

Hearing Supreme Kai speech about Buu. I now realize that he was talking about Kid Buu. We had this saga progress to that point. I have to rewatch DBZ from the beginning and watch it from Vegetas POV.
Vegeta knew about Gohan's potential even back at the death of Raditz. He's staring at the culmination of adaptable, and ever-growing Saiyan power within this hybrid warrior - and as an adult by this point. He's got every right to get angry at Gohan for not blowing away Dabura like he had done with Cell. All that Saiyan culture and pride wrapped up in the prince of like maybe 3 pure saiyans left by this point in Z, a few hybrids, and a dead guy.
The Supreme Kai went from appearing wise and mysterious to a complete and total idiot really fast, huh. 'How could this wizard who uses the evil in your heart to control you have found a more powerful fighter than Dabura? Who could it be??' Oh, I don't know, maybe the guy who just demonstrated how evil he is and threatened to kill you 30 seconds ago? He can read minds too, so he should have been able to sense the evil in Vegeta's heart well before this ever happened.
If he was smart, he would have killed Babidi and then teleported away before Dabura could react. There was no need to do anything else. No one else could free Buu.

He knew Dabura was much stronger than him and was personally guarding Babidi at all times, and *didn't* know that the 3 Saiyans were stronger than Dabura (well, maybe not Gohan, but you get the point). Any plan to kill Babidi would have to go through Dabura, and at the time he didnt know that would be a thing they could actually do
Yeah you make a good point. This was only base level vegeta attempting to blow up the ship, so Dabura for sure would be able to easily shield Babidi and the Buu egg from the blast.

No he was really angry because he wanted to fight Goku so bad and it got delayed for this, but once Babadi started to possess him he realized this was the only way he was going to get what he wanted so he let it happen. I don't think he was intentionally trying to get possessed but once it started he didnt stop it.

Supreme Kai is so frustrating. He’s supposed to be the guy who’s a thousand times stronger than Frieza and did nothing against either Frieza or Cell, and now all of them are supposed to obey him? If Vegeta blew up that ship, it wouldve killed Babidi, and Dabura. Maybe it wouldve revived Buu, but they couldve ganged up on him and ended it there

It wouldn’t have killed Dabura but he wouldn’t have been an issue to kill after, he probably would’ve protected Babidi too as we’ve seen. We’ve also seen Babidi capable of barriering himself. But still it wouldn’t have hurt chances against Buu

I didn't understand why they wouldn't want to blow up the ship, and just risk reviving Buu. It's clear at this point that Buu doesn't have anywhere near enough energy, so he'd be a lot weaker as a result and would likely be more easily killed. And I'm not saying that because he gets revived thanks to Vegeta, but because I honestly kinda agree with Vegeta on this one that blowing up the ship would have been faster and worth the risk. What threat was Buu going to be with only a portion of energy.
I think the issue is that Supreme Kai assumed that Buu was so strong that he would be able to beat Goku and Vegeta even with less than full power. It's kind of ironic because Babidi was afraid that they WOULD release Buu prematurely which is part of why he kept sending them to other places to fight. But yeah they would be better off blowing up the ship.
The plan is to stop babidi and Dabura from resurrecting Buu. That’s too risky to revive Buu and then to expect Goku and the others to win. Of course supreme kai would not gamble on that.
The writers didn’t think this one thru.
I thought Buu’s power doesn’t depend on the energy stored, he needs that energy only to break from his shell.

I find it funny to watch the English version after the Japanese version to see the gap between the two. See when Goku stops Vegeta, he tells him to stop then Vegeta says his name. Then follows the two of them looking at each other without saying a word, in the English version, they still talk to one another. It made me realize that silences play a huge role most of the time.

Something I really appreciate about this scene is Vegeta was right 100% about Gohan’s performance as a warrior and about destroying the ship. But even more importantly, he was right about survival of the fittest. If we think about it from his perspective, strength was what defined his ability to live over twenty years of his life being Frieza’s attack dog, and in order to live that kind of life, he had to be ruthless and remorseless. Allowing an enemy to live simply to continue fighting is not how a warrior should operate. In Vegeta’s mind, the cancer needs to be removed at the source, otherwise it’ll just keep coming back.
But Vegeta's only alive because Goku asked Krillin to spare him in their first battle and later because they revived him with the dragon balls. Just about every time enemies were shown mercy it's paid off in a major way. Piccolo, Vegeta, and the androids were all Goku's enemies bent on killing him that ended up being crucial allies who have saved not only Goku's life but the entire world, galaxy and the universe on multiple occasions. Not to mention Mr.Satan --an utter weakling (compared to any Z fighter) who Vegeta chastised Goku for saving --turned out to be sole reason Goku was able to gather enough energy for the spirit bomb to defeat Kid Buu. Vegeta's no-mercy, survival-of-the-fittest perspective is understandable given his history, but it's a short-sighted narrow way of thinking.

He can read minds too, so he should have been able to sense the evil in Vegeta's heart well before this ever happened.
If he was smart, he would have killed Babidi and then teleported away before Dabura could react. There was no need to do anything else. No one else could free Buu.

He knew Dabura was much stronger than him and was personally guarding Babidi at all times, and *didn't* know that the 3 Saiyans were stronger than Dabura (well, maybe not Gohan, but you get the point). Any plan to kill Babidi would have to go through Dabura, and at the time he didnt know that would be a thing they could actually do

I think Vegeta was intentionally making a scene so Babidi would possess him. He mentioned it in his fight with Goku.
No he was really angry because he wanted to fight Goku so bad and it got delayed for this, but once Babadi started to possess him he realized this was the only way he was going to get what he wanted so he let it happen. I don't think he was intentionally trying to get possessed but once it started he didnt stop it.
