The most impactful point, now that I'm a parent, is that he brought his family into it. Even that was used as a measuring point on the long, growing list of things that he's tried to do to surpass him. He was really clocking everything goku did. His commitment to finding a way to surpass Goku had engulfed every aspect of his life, even his most personal experiences that had nothing to do with goku within a normal context.
It makes sense though, he said "how can a sayian fight like that, and be so gentle he wouldn't hurt a fly?" He was referring to the savageness of their battle, going so far as to bite your opponent, not out of desperation like when he bit freiza
Its such a perfect scene. You can see Goku is clearly not fighting for anything, his focus is currently on defeating buu and yet, being all that strong you can see by his face that this man would definitely not even hurt a fly. Beautiful scene
If he admitted it sooner and just focused on himself more, he probably would have gotten just as good as him. A good lesson for anyone in any kind of sport like martial arts or any other skill field.
it seems like Goku is just a gifted warrior after all... he's born as a weakling and continue to improve despite him being labeled as the weakest of his race. main character or not, Goku shows better wisdom and fight IQ than Vegeta does have. yes, Vegeta has better plans before entering a fight but Goku's midfight adjustments will never be topped by any of Vegeta's feats. also, Goku trains smarter than Vegeta even though both of them are training hard.
After all this time when he finally admitted it... It was like a burden getting off his chest then he smiled....no matter how many animes they make they will never make a character as Badass as Vegeta
This was one of the iconic scene in entire show it was made before DB super litrally decades ago, and Vegata accepting that he will never be good enough, a zen moment. I loved this scene. ❤️
He's right. Goku spared nearly all of his enemies. *King Piccolo - Gave him a sensu bean when he was in pain. Eventually developed a friendship after a long deadly conflict. *Vegeta - Begged Krillin to spare him before he flew out on his spaceship, giving him a chance to change. *Ginyu Force - Didn't want to kill Recoom and Jeice, spared Captain Ginyu, and criticized Vegeta for killing Jeice. *Frieza - Left him to survive, shared his power with him and tried to get him to contemplate his actions and change to be a better person. *Android 17 and 18 - Can't say much about them because he never interacted with them. Of course, he'll spare them if that was the case. *Cell - Literally gave him a sensu bean before fighting with Gohan because "it just wouldn't be fair". *Buu: Right before unleashing the spirit bomb, he hoped that one day he would emerge as an innocent, kindhearted character. Even Vegeta, his biggest rival, had to develop respect and appreciation toward Goku, like everyone else did prior to this moment.
@@valydendor4472 Yeah, it was hahaha. But because of that, things turned out to be more interesting. Cell is one of the main villains in the entire series. They simply had to give him more.
Citizen Bias If only Vegeta said something like "You will always be better than me kakarot, but that doesn't mean i'll ever stop trying to surpass you" I think that would be a decent transition into his DBS character.
Vegeta definitely has one of the most satisfying character arcs I've ever seen. From world killer to world saver, he shot a Galick Gun right into our hearts. Play on, player.
I always looked up to goku as a kid. Seeing him as a father figure as i see my dad. EVERYDAY working hard and showing up everyone who challenged him. Now that im a father and have my own family i see myself as vegeta. Pushing myself to something more seperior that i cant acheive i will always look up to jim and try to be half the man he is. RIP AKIRA TORIYAMA idk how you did it to make us relate but you did.
It's true .that's a weak mindset what people don't realize is because of this that Vegeta broke mentally so bad that he came to terms with it . If you give on to the mindset of always thinking someone is better you are never gonna grow in a fast rate. A real advice : you can outwork anyone even those with a natural talent and potential
For a character that toriyama didn’t like he sure gave him the best development, and made vegeta the most relatable character ever we all grow up thinking we are goku until we meet that person that’s better than us in one way or another and then we have to acknowledge it which sometimes is harder than it sounds but we have to acknowledged it so that we keep working hard to become better
This goes to show how deep Vegetas insecurities grew over time, he even started a family of his own to see if he could get any more stronger but ended up loving his family. And later he just gave up on the cause because he accepted that some people are just meant to be better than you.
that's not the lesson here. Dragon ball z follows principles of zen buddhism in any teaching it may give. And one of the teachings are nothing is more powerful than that which is fulfilled in itself, i.e Love for the sake of love. Power for the sake of power. Goku's mentality is superior to vegeta's because he competes with himself to seek out the best in himself, whereas vegeta only wants to be the strongest around, then he's satisfied. If goku ever stopped training and vegeta surpassed.Vegeta would be content. But for Goku that would never be in that case.
@@joshapaul9381 Goku never seeked power...it's just that he rose to it when the situation came to it. Where as Vegeta always wanted to be the best fighter and not just that his pride is so close to his ego that he would rule everyone if he could.
This is why everyone needs to watch the original Dragonball. Goku’s backstory isn’t a mystery. The reason he is the way he is is because master roshi first taught him that honest hard work will never fail you. This gets reinforced again when he trains with Korin on his tower. Then he gets divine training with Kami. The he gets even more divine training with King Kai. Goku is a simple dude but he really does respect his masters. His masters all have all had their vices but goku wasn’t phased by that. He took only the wisdom from them that they were trying to instill and he ran with it. Goku is the best because he’s the best student. We truly see Vegeta’s development in super when he decides to become a student as well and that’s also when you see goku and Vegeta at their closest in terms of power. The lesson of this story is to become a pupil. Vegeta, like Jiren, believed power came from within.
He accepted Goku was stronger he didn't give up on wanting to become the strongest. Thats not Vegeta and would be against his character(uncharacteristic) I don't even understand how some people think such after watching the whole darn series lol Notice how he stopped having ptsd whenever goku surpassed him after this?
I like that he is truly commending Goku, and realizing the mistakes that he has done, every warrior is still a warrior, no matter how badass they are or not and or Vegeta also learns the Value of training
Given where his character began, and the journey he went on, this is an incredible moment for Vegeta, some of the best character development in any series ever made. There are three major character moments for Vegeta in my eyes, one is dying on Namek and shedding the looming shadow of Frieza, the second is watching Trunks die against Cell, and this is the third.
@@leow637 why the f would he be crowned. Like umm who crown him and why would he wanna be crowned. Like "congrats u are prince of all 1 and 4 half sayains" 😂😂😂😂😂
Vegeta does have a bit of a point. How can a *Saiyan* who's blood and instincts literally consist of killing and conquering be thaaaaat strong only to show mercy to his opponents once he beats them?
I think it’s gokus selfishness and righteousness makes him stronger because Vegeta only cared about being stronger for himself and for no other reason than to be number 1 , but when you have to be stronger for other people you know you have to work super hard to do that
Global Saturation Not to mention goku never did anything out sheer pride and arrogance like vegeta does since that’s just how simple goku takes things and will just train to break his limits
@@globalsaturation7333 Good point. Noticed how strong Vegeta got when Beerus had hit Bulma. Now imagine if he had that same amount of care for all his friends, the earth, and the universe - that's Goku.
What I like about this scene is that vegeta realizes what Goku’s been told and has followed all throughout db and so the reason why he’s always Goku’s 2nd. Which is Roshis ideals, Roshi always pushed the ideal of never fighting to win, or to prove a point with his students. Though, to always fight to improve yourself as fighters, as no matter how strong you get there’s always someone stronger and room to grow. Roshi even went as far as entering and winning the tournament to prove to goku this very point but also to make sure goku lost as if he’d won he’d think he was the best and would get arrogant. ( Roshi is a goat tier sensei btw ) Then we have vegeta the complete opposite, whereas goku always fought to improve and better himself vegeta always fought to win, or to prove a point to his opponent. Never to better himself. Whereas goku thanks to roshi was humbled and always believed there to be someone stronger, vegeta due to him being a prince and a prodigy was extremely arrogant and thought he was the best. Though vegeta doesn’t see this at first and just assumed it was Goku’s will to protect his loved ones that made him so strong but vegeta was wrong. Growing a family of his own and his power not really skyrocketing. It was here that vegeta finally realized why he was kakarot’s 2nd. He always fought to win and thought he was the best, while goku fought to improve and belived there’s always someone stronger. It was nice storytelling to see roshis words and ideals come full circle here. Truly great storytelling.
Dang I would have to hard agree. Interestingly enough dragon ball is where u see what really makes goku special. It isn’t his inherent power but his mindset.
@@ivan_d_feets4495 there’s a lot more to the series then people give it credit for. Toriyama is an example of story telling that isn’t shoved in the viewers face. But you have to notice it on your on like here for example.

What a beautiful moment. Vegeta finally accepts humility and admits to Goku's superiority to him.
Vegeta is bigger than most of us.
He would admit to being inferior to someone who, his life goal was to surpass.
Too bad it went down the drain in super
In super he decided to to not chase goku and instead find his own path, he still wants to surpass him but in his own way.

It cracks me up how vegeta is truly acknowledging Goku.
While Goku is having a biting competition with buu. 😂💀
It makes sense though, he said "how can a sayian fight like that, and be so gentle he wouldn't hurt a fly?" He was referring to the savageness of their battle, going so far as to bite your opponent, not out of desperation like when he bit freiza

it seems like Goku is just a gifted warrior after all... he's born as a weakling and continue to improve despite him being labeled as the weakest of his race. main character or not, Goku shows better wisdom and fight IQ than Vegeta does have. yes, Vegeta has better plans before entering a fight but Goku's midfight adjustments will never be topped by any of Vegeta's feats.
also, Goku trains smarter than Vegeta even though both of them are training hard.

"You are the best"

Thats not Vegeta and would be against his character(uncharacteristic) I don't even understand how some people think such after watching the whole darn series lol

Vegeta does have a bit of a point. How can a *Saiyan* who's blood and instincts literally consist of killing and conquering be thaaaaat strong only to show mercy to his opponents once he beats them?
Simple Grandpa gohan raised him right.......plus a certain fall
I think it’s gokus selfishness and righteousness makes him stronger because Vegeta only cared about being stronger for himself and for no other reason than to be number 1 , but when you have to be stronger for other people you know you have to work super hard to do that
Global Saturation
Also true
Global Saturation
Not to mention goku never did anything out sheer pride and arrogance like vegeta does since that’s just how simple goku takes things and will just train to break his limits
( Roshi is a goat tier sensei btw )
Then we have vegeta the complete opposite, whereas goku always fought to improve and better himself vegeta always fought to win, or to prove a point to his opponent.
