Love the aircraft, the two seater isn't an ultralight. Everytime I find a video listed as a challenger ultralight it ends up being the two seater nowhere near 254lbs
awesome video. just a word to the wise. your 2cycle engine is going to fail. not a matter if it will but when will it fail. Looks like you've got a lot of places to land the glider when it happens. Been there. Done that. Sold my challenger ultralight after 2 of my friends were killed flying ultralight aircraft. One of them was the president of usua club 1 Warrenton Va.. Prop sheared off from the engine and cut the tail boom causing loss of flight control. Two persons killed in the crash.
I was fortunate for the couple years that I built and flew it. I had a couple ultralight building gurus living near by that guided me through any mods that I made. One of the gentlemen was an inspector and test pilot in Canada for the machine. All that to say, I felt safe enough (machine wise). Sorry to hear about the loss of your friends. Flying is a dream come true for us and the challenger (often second hand) is what we can afford. Great machine of properly taken care of. It’s on the back burner for me for a while. I traded my plane in for my daughter 😀
I like how you were able to use the lift in the hangar. Where do you attach the strap? I am trying to figure out a way to make this work in my hangar so I can store two planes in it rather than just my Challenger.
that was the reason why we used the system as well. the bonus was in the winter when we didn't have to deal with snow blocking doors, we were able to just plop the birds down right on top with the pulley. I used a modified U-bold just behind the passenger seat on the main 2x2 tubing. I couldnt find any pics sorry. balance is key.
@Mitchell Mallen really cool! 🫡 It was a great video. Beautiful scenery. I really dig Challengers. Great planes. I hope to become the proud dad of a Challenger 1 here in about two more weeks! 🤞
Thanks Lode. This challenger with the 503cc rotax had the older style wings that had less performance than the newer design but still gave me with the extended 12 gallon fuel tank, 5 hours solo and 3-4 two person. pretty good!!
It was actually quite a clever way when enjoying cheap rent and a beautiful area to fly out from. also in the winter the pulley made it easy to place the plane down on the snow. the doors were never blocked because of the height over the ground. having the pulley also made repairs easy.

The category I believe is advanced ultralight and when I owned It I believe it fit into the Canadian definition of the classification

You cut Magic Carpet Ride short for Don't Worry Be Happy????

Loved the train at the end. I'm a locomotive engineer as well as a pilot. I bet they were like "WTF".....I know I would have!! lol
when a FOAMER gets a airplane :/
Chu jaloux. J'en veut un. 😁
saved the best for last....racing with the train. LOVE IT>
Loved it!
How did you loose the nose wheel fairing? Oh, 2 different aircraft. I see.
Very well done, great flight and nice edited video. What's the endurance/range of your aircraft?

haha. Thanks Tim. Movie magic or I was testing to see if airspeed was improved or not.
