I actually bought a cabasa after the last video you posted. It's such a versatile percussion instrument! Great video as always Rick! Thank you for inspiring my playing every time

Great tips. You mention some important things I have yet to see in other videos so far. I bid on a used LP (Deluxe I think), and got it for $29 including delivery... I think it's probably from the period you describe as being when the best ones were produced. Thanks for the advice. I'll now watch the first video, and come back to this one again. I now need to see how I feel about the looseness of the beads before I stretch them. Interestingly, the first time I did a roll, to show my gf the new trick, I did it perfectly, and repeated it once... Then I started thinking about it a little too hard and could do it again. I will work on my technique. The explanation of the proper wrist movement is the thing I hadn't seen yet in other videos yet. You really can't go wrong checking out different ones... So I'm really glad I was prompted to view yours. Subscribing.

Love that double hit technique. I used to have one many years ago, and found it much simpler just to wrist spin it (short/long/fast), without another hand holding the beads, it's the same sound anyways, but yea when it needs a sharp tight beat of course. And now I've graduated to using the LP Torpedo shaker (large), for the past 35 years, with my very own developed unique style, which makes it effortlessly as well! Hope I could share that with you some day!

    Wow, this was GREAT!
I wonder what is a safe range of pumps for the reverse clamp once the chain is taut

😂 I never knew that long slide/spin was even a possibility, even though I never spent a ton of time using one.
