    As a Romanian, the Romano-Bulgar Union of Magna Vlachia and Bulgaria looked cool as hell. But I assume Carol would have taken an Imperial title after the Balkan war, and had gained also Adrianople just as Bulgaria did

    • @Porphyrios.History
      @Porphyrios.History  9 месяцев назад +8

      I am really glad you liked it! I personally also like this turn of events and might make a full video about it. As far as Carols titles I left it out of the video but at first he will just ne King of Romania and Bulgaria as a personal union. After the Balkan war he would probably proclaim the union Kingdom and maybe upgrade his title to go along with that. As far as taking Adrianople goes they could probably even take Constantinople 8m the war if they wanted to but I already had a different ending where that happens and realistically the GPs won't allow it. That's why I chose to have than focus on retaking Macedonia.

      @@yoghurtmaster1688 It is even more nationalistic to call the Empire 'Second Bulgarian Empire' than the "Vlachian Empire" which is a historic name used for the Empire just how the Empire was indeed as well called "Bulgaria".
      Now, if you go to Bachkovo Monastery in Bulgaria, where the fresco of tsar Ioan Alexander is and the one of Ioannitsa Kaloyan (also nicknamed the "Vlach"), they are called "Tsar's of Bulgaria". But..the Empire was called Bulgaria just how the Holy Roman Empire was called Roman Empire by its German Emperor's. You can't argue against the fact that Kaloyan ("the Vlach") used _"translatio imperii"_ in his letters to Pope Innocent IIIrd to legitimise his rule over his lands and his Imperial title. He indeed say that his Empire was successor state to the old Bulgarian Empire and he is descendant of the old tsar's, which is what translatio imperii is and also is the reason they used the name "Bulgaria" to legitimise those claims just how the German Empire used the title of "Roman Empire" (later "Sacrum" during Frederick Barbarossa) in the name, to legitimise their imperial claims.
      Now if you read the works of Geoffroy de Villehardouin, Henri de Valenciennes, Robert de Clari and Philippe Mouskes (the same people to call Kaloyan as "John/little Ioan the Vlach", among being Niketas Choniates) you can see how they refer to the "Holy Roman Empire" as the German Empire, the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire) as the Greek Empire and the Bulgarian Empire as Vlachian Empire (Kingdom in the text, the imperial claim is not recognised). If you read the writings of Niketas Choniates (1155-1217) in his chronicle of "O City of Byzantium" and in "Europa" you can realise how the revolt of 1185 was a Vlach revolt, the Asănesti were Vlach's and that the Empire was Vlach.

    Despite all that, I think it is high time to make it clear to everyone that Bulgaria is leaving the war with the same territory it entered with. It is not the only country that lost the war and won something. The return of Southern Dobrudja took place before Bulgaria entered the war and with the consent of all the major powers at that time.

    Kingdom of Romania and Bulgaria was not a bad idea. In the First Bulgarian Empire, Wallachia was part of Bulgaria. During the Second Bulgarian Empire, the Wallachian territory was a vassal of the Bulgarians and one of their staunchest allies. Also, the Bulgarian revolutionaries (hushes) in the middle of the 19th century founded their revolutionary committees and printed newspapers precisely in Bucharest, Romania, and this is not accidental. So that the Romanians are much closer culturally and historically to the Bulgarians compared to all the southern Slavic peoples.

      Yes IF Romania-Bulgaria is competent they could majority change WW1! A-H actually got basically saved by Bulgaria when they attacked Serbia and prevented their army of retreating to the Allied government in Greece. A-H had a very small army for it's size and couldn't handle the front alone. The reason I stuck to the "historical" WW1 is because I didn't want Romania-Bulgaria to take up half of the video.
