Lia what an eye opener! To actually make habits out of the things you love and prioritize them in your schedule. I love love love sewing, but I have not done it for some weeks now, and I am feeling quite unhappy and without energy most of the time. The reason I haven't done it is because there are always more "important" things to do - but maybe sewing actually IS important. Maybe I should actually tell myself that whilst cleaning and organizing and all the things are important, so is my hobbies, and prioritizing them: not only will it make me happier, but usually when I am happy the chore-habits feel way easier. Omg thank you! Thank you thank you! I feel way more optimistic about my mood improving now

Excellent message !! There are many nuances to be found in repeating your experiences and these nuances are very valuable because they deepen the experience and understanding and this is how you become the master of something.❤

Thank you so much for this video. I struggle to find happiness sometimes but usually find it doing the same things over and over. I spend time with the same people. I read the same books again and listen to the same songs again. I enjoy eating the same meals most of the time. I drink tea out of the same mug every day. I take walks on the same trails. Yes I do experience new things but if I enjoy doing something I try to do that thing more often. I am very grateful for the things I enjoy. I also rewatch many videos of yours because I enjoy them.

This is so true! I started this when I had little kids, to try to make daily life more fun but without exhausting myself. So, something like "this summer, we have a picnic at the park on Mondays, and on Wednesdays we watch another episode of the sandcastle building competition"
And I find it really helps with friends. Instead of having to negotiate calendars each time, we go out for lunch on the third Sunday of each month. And on Thursdays at noon, my sister and I speak on the phone.
Thanks for the reminder. Most of these "happy habits" have fallen away, and I want them back!

I totally agree that it is good to repeat things that you enjoy - To me this is the total opposite of being boring. Feeling connected to my near by community gives me meaning 👊 Great video - thank you 🙏

So true! But at the same time, as soon as I add somethings on my "I have to do this more often" list, its gets a chore in my mind. Thats why I leave my favorite activities out of habit(trackers) and to do lists to not make them unappealing.

Maybe just blocking the time in your calendar would be the solution for you? It's all about protecting the time to do your favourite things no matter if you track it. For me if it is time-blocked I don't feel guilty to do it.

I get around this by making it "the day for..."
Just like I water the plants on Tuesday, I visit people on Sunday, maybe I can do my hobby on Monday. That kind of thing. So it's not a to do list, it's more of a routine.

I love this video! I have a happy habit of re-reading Harry Potter every 3 years. Never thought of it like that before, but that is what it is 😋

I love routines… when they don t last many many years. After a while I get crazy and don t have fun at discovering nuances and details, I don t care anymore and wanna break those routines that I finally hated to get into new ones. I call them « chapters ».

Actually almost everytime I've been on vacation somewhere I feel like I want to return to explore the place more deeply. Especially since I really try not to make my vacations too packed with activities being driven by the feeling that I have to see everything. So there's always more to see, even in small places. At least that's how it feels for me. Plus it can be relaxing in a way if you don't have to research everything, if you already know your way around a place a bit and you might get less overwhelmed with new impressions.
My boyfriend and I also tried to implement a positive habit of having a movie night every Friday but we realized that we often find us enjoying the snacks more than wanting to watch a movie everytime (especially a new movie, we got into rewatching movies a lot more).
What I probably want to repeat more and often find myself feeling guilty about is just to have calm cozy weekends at home. No big outings or special activities, just doing calm things I enjoy or maybe go for a short walk. Especially since I'm living abroad I always feel like I need to explore. It's probably more sustainably and certainly cheaper to spend a weekend at home yet I often feel guilty while doing so.
Only this weekend (on a weekendtrip of course) I thought about the whole experiences over things mentality and how I feel that this often leads to a still every consume orientated mindset in a way. Like we want to consume activities. We feel we need new and exciting things just like you stated. But a deep conversation with a dear person can be the greatest experience if we take the time for it instead of running for something new again and again and again.
