I just finished learning to read and write in Swahili because I accidentally changed that to the default language in betaflight. Wish you had come out with this video 2 years ago!
Something that betaflight configurator needs *desperately* is a "virtual FC" mode. I don't want to leave my quad plugged in for an hour while I scour _every setting_ like I'm ordering at a drive-thru and starting to panic because a line is forming behind me. If you tell betaflight what flight controller you have (and have connected it once to confirm it and load all its settings), being able to configure it with it unplugged and then just plug it in to sync the changes would be such an amazing feature! I know talking about it here won't change anything, but I'm curious how many others would want this too.
Oh yeah that would be awesome. Some changes i have to do with a connected battery and i dont want to cook my vtx while i frantically search for a setting to change.
I believe that you could do that if you cloned the repository and edited default values in the config files and recompile the source. It's not betaflight, but from a techies point of view, NPP to the rescue baby. I'll need three packs to fly while it's compiling and a cigarette to smoke while it's flashing. Just saying.

god, i wish i could setup a virtual flight controller to use in a sim, that would make setups so much easier to move around instead of having to figure out all the equivalent settings in a janky settings menu
I wanted to add something that might be another unknown feature. You know how you can get spi whoop rx's to bind through the CLI? That process is now integrated into the receiver tab, with a button that is labeled "bind receiver". Only works with the spi receivers mentioned, but pretty handy if you have a whoop or two (or a whole fleet, Nick Burns looking at you)

I am very new to FPV quads and have found an answer to every single one of my questions in one or another of your videos. You the man JB!!

When working with custom builds, forked from betaflight, setting parameters in CLI is oftentimes the only way to properly configure the firmware. Thanks for the last part, I'll be sharing it around!

@@SlipperyFPV I’m not so sure about that, it looks to me like a successor to the session 5 for every day’s footage, with the added benefit of weight and size. Back then, the session 5 was at a similar price.
Thanks JB, I discovered some of those issues about Betaflight quite by accident. Like language switching. Now it’s about trying to go through the back door for GPS only to discover that I’ll have to flash the BrainFPV flight controller. Because doing it off from the GUI it just turns everything off like my receiver and end up having to turn everything back on in the GUI for the receiver tab for Crossfire ect. I can turn the UART on but can’t turn it on for GPS.
Well the reader in the flight controllers only supports up to 32gb because that's where SDHC standard stops. If larger it is a sdxc card. Actually a SD card is only up to 2gb. But most people call everything a sd-card just because it is the same physical size.
I bought the dji fpv combo and understand the pitch roll yaw rate adjustments with that system. That led me down the road to a digiadapter, rapid-fire module a tinyhawk III, moblite 7 and a mobula 7. And damn beta flight seems so much more overly complicated. I think maybe I halfway understand it at this point. 🤔 I feel like a lot of it should be preprogrammed with no need to mess with it. Had to use betaflight to fix minor issues with the little drones. I bet I have accumulated at least a dozen stupid questions about something or another at this point. 👉 😕👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Your CLI example should have been motor mapping! Remapping your motors is the most common CLI and using the UP arrow would have made more sense! Any rate just my two cents.
The 'auto' setting for dark mode works like the 'auto' setting for the language - it tracks the system default. I just did a test on my Mac and if I change my system dark mode setting and then launch Configurator with the mode set to 'auto' it launches in the new mode. Unlike most Mac aps, it doesn't switch on the fly if I change the system setting while Configurator is running. So if I configure my machine to turn on dark mode when its dark, then Configurator will follow suit. Since the default setting is 'auto' for most people Configurator will always launch in their preferred mode. I have no idea if the 'auto' setting behaves the same way on Windows or Linux.
It behaves the same on Linux - if your system theme is set to dark, the configurator follows and uses dark theme too. I don't know about Windows, but last time I used it there was no equivalent to dark mode on it.
FAT32 can do more than 32gb, you just have to format it in Linux. Also, the 4GB Limit is because of filesystem constraints. FAT32 can only hold files up to 4GB, that's why it sais 4GB. So it doesn't have anything to do with power cycling, but rather filesystem limits.

I want to buy my first drone (got about 2 months of Liftoff behind my back and feel ready). But I don't know what to get. I want to be able to fly far and long but don't want a drone that is too big. As a beginner I want it to be able to take a hit and I'd love to able to pull of some flips and rolls although it will not be my main focus, range and flight time is the focus. Will be using the DJI Goggles and Crossfire on my TX16S. Contenders on my list are: Iflight Titan XL, Chimera 4, 5 or 7 or Flywoo Explorer LR. Just can make up my mind regarding size vs battery it can carry vs me being a noob pilot. Thanks for any advice out there!
FAT32 not only has 32GB total size for card but has a 4GB limit limit on file size, hence the betaflight blackbox max limit of 4GB per., I agree 4GB is nowhere in sight on a 8min flight.
yeah the only reason you shouldn't get it is if you're flying at a very high level and need the low latency of analogue or you don't have the funds for it there's nothing really wrong with it apart from when flying with other people because the headset transmits as well and that can interfere with other people's video
Something about ST vcom driver debugging would be great. I watched one of your betaflight install vids, and I could not get the vcom feature working on my MSI laptop, even thou the process works on my Dell. ST claims the W8 driver is not for W10 anymore.

You can also use it to flash any firmware to stm32’s. I flashed my SDR radio with it.
In macOS and Linux you can activate system wide dark mode. This is what „auto“ is for. So „System“ would be a better naming.

Betaflight almost all of it is pre-programmed with no need to mess with it. All of the PIDs for example you can probably ignore.

The 4 gigs must be a fat32 limitation. It can not hold bigger files.
