I had a Striker as a kid. That was a standard place for the chassis to break in use. My gut feel is that the chassis was probably broken before it got put in the box...
The striker was my first rc car back in 1987. The chassis was weak at the front though oddly I never broke mine there. It was an entry level kit & although not that good looking it did handle better than the hornet or grasshopper thanks to independent (basic) suspension all round.
The Striker...... never was a fan back then in the day. But now, I love it....That sucks you received this vintage classic like this....most likely in transit. 😞
Normal break from running not from shipping. All the fx10's and strikers and sonic's break in that point. Shell would be broke if it was from shipping.
Worst example I got in post was my vintage Fox. Just the car with no wheels, 2 plastic bags with nothing in them, a spare part box tumbling inside with the car. And a Attack R transmitter with nothing around it. The metal plate on the front of the transmitter were dented and the wheelaxle were poking out of the box. At least I got it for free + shipping.
Hi,just found your channel, cool stuff.I was wondering if there is a vintage tamiya rc collectors site anywhere? I have an unused rough rider(silver edition) I want to sell, never going to use it but thought you or your viewers may know where the best place to sell it would be,sorry for contacting you this way but was not sure how else to get in touch.Thank you
After breaking the first chassis. I made an aluminum brace for the weak point and put it on the new chassis before it broke. Lasted a couple years racing. And yes I still have it from 1987
I liked the Striker, my brother had one, my older brother had a Blackfoot and a Sonic Fighter (which is the same as a Striker). But i had the best car of them all the Falcon :P
You should introduce the dog to us. Yeah bad luck with the Striker. It could be fixed with some plastic weld fluid and plastic sheet, but I guess that's not what you paid for. I have a Striker, I bought it as a fixer upper/runner and it was already obviously broken (chassis). I lucked onto a new/old stock chassis on Ebay and tbh paid overs to get it. Not a great design those chassis, they are nearly all broken.
I used to work at a hobby shop and would warn people not to buy it. Also I believe that Futaba also sold this car as the FX-10. Also not a good car. The only reason to get a car like this is for a collection and not to drive it.
@@RCKickschannel I agree, you would need to drive it very carefully. If you need parts for your car, you might be able to get a Futaba FX-10 to get some of the parts that you might need. Just a thought.
Alfred Yost I’m lucky the replacement Striker I purchased is in really good condition and with a bit of luck it should be with me this week. I did manage to collect a few replacement parts for the car but I’m not sure if I’ll need them now.
Haven't we all bought an rc car that we didn't really want😏 my one was the street rover! Never liked it still don't but then I bought another one "because it was very cheap"😖
I have my 1987 tamiya striker.. Its a shelf queen.. It was not a safe vehicle to hit into things.. examples below.. The rear trailing arms. If you hit a wall or a tree the ball joint will crack the chassis where the 3 screws are and the single one on the side... A frontal impact will snap the chassis at the as that spot where yours is broken.. The other point where it will break is the front suspension arm. This is why i wont ever run this car.. i did finally get a new chassis but i have not done anything to.. it needs painting as the shell is a dark metallic blue.. that might get done at some point.
Bad Luck about the Stryker.... I hope there's no issues with returning it. Some sellers are compleat arseholes!! 😠 Avante Mk2.... There's one I wouldn't mind having. Sadly I can't offer anything for it, because as I'm saying all too often, I'm literally POOR. 😖😞 I don't see my situation changing anytime soon. By G-Wagen, I assume that you mean the CC-02.... 3 select Americans here and one Canadian have had the experience of building them. One, I can assume is trying to protect his flow of free promotional products.... He "loved" it. The others, one a friend of mine since he was a tiny channel, was more lukewarm.... Overengineered, crappy PLASTIC Bushings, shite 73mm VINYL Tyres and the bog standard Silver Can Motor (for the premium cost!) Plastic Suspension Links, horrible for a proper Crawler, and POOR Steering (though at least better than the abysmal CC-01!) Sadly it seems more like a product for the Tamiya faithful than any serious contender in the Hot Crawler market.... At least in North America. Your mileage may vary, and I truly hope you're satisfied with it! 😉 Everyone agrees that the Body Detail is excellent and up to Tamiya's standards. Carmine ✈🚂🚙
One of my mates bought a Striker for our regular Saturday morning hangover races. In 3 years he never won a race against our Hornets, Falcons, Grasshoppers and Roughriders, and got a complex about being shit at driving. I’m sure we told him that it was not him but the car (actually we told him that it WAS him 😬). He was actually quite good at driving. That mate was Lewis Hamilton!
Lewis was a big RC fan when he was young. He even went on Blue Peter with his Dad once lol. He’s a Stevenage boy. I see his brother in WGC now and again with his girlfriend.
Not sure if I’m the only person in the UK who doesn’t like Hamilton. Cannot stand the bloke. Couldn’t stand Mansell either. Like Button and Hill though ..... go figure. I’m Herts too. .... Watford side though.
Put old credit card on crack cut it to fit on it and shoe gooe for support I do it to my rc bodys that break credit card add support and u can use the numbers like a serial numbers nobody has that number but u and it on ur body and its has ur full name u need to talk to your rc plug

Hi, I checked back on the sellers pictures and it wasn’t on them. I did think the same at first. Nope it’s 100% down to crap packing.
When I buy a new car I always get two full kits plus a whole load more additional spare parts so I can make the model last a very long time.
The striker was my first rc car back in 1987. The chassis was weak at the front though oddly I never broke mine there. It was an entry level kit & although not that good looking it did handle better than the hornet or grasshopper thanks to independent (basic) suspension all round.

Yes it was due to had packaging. The person who sold it to me said he had another chassis so would fix it and put it back up for sale.

Dogs barking, fire works going off, broken chassis from a Dingus . You handled that well sir!
A true pro, LOL 😂
You could always use the 2nd Avante as your next build /giveaway
If and when you get a new Striker you should consider getting the Futaba fx-10
The rear wing and rear bumper and the motor cover are from a sonic fighter

Check out the buy and sell Facebook RC groups or just stick it on eBay.
The striker and sonic fighter chassis are the weak points there are actually 3 different ones with various reinforcement attempts
After breaking the first chassis. I made an aluminum brace for the weak point and put it on the new chassis before it broke. Lasted a couple years racing.

And it’s back listed on eBay with original seller - claims no cracks - hope he replaced the chassis 🥴
2 to 1, back to 1 to 2... I am a idiot...😂😂😂
I liked the Striker, my brother had one, my older brother had a Blackfoot and a Sonic Fighter (which is the same as a Striker). But i had the best car of them all the Falcon :P
The striker is an ugly car but it drives great!!! Jumps beautifully, my brother had one, I had the sonic fighter......loved them, real fun.
Unfortunate about the damage, I love my Sonic Fighter. I know the feeling of buying multiple cars 🤣😂

I really don't know what to say... lmfao
The seller for the Striker was horrible. What were they thinking?

The chassis has some really weak areas so driving it these days has to be done with care.

Nope, that’s never happened to me Phil. Ok so three times for the same kit but what can I say, I’m an idiot with an RC problem hehehe

Yeah! Send the Striker back! Thanks the stupid seller you can present this car without any cost in your channel😁
I remember when Futaba FX-10 cloned the Stryker..

How comical 🤣 Very entertaining. 👌🏻 So the car you are waiting for is Avante Mk.II? 😄 What do you think about DF-02 Aero Avante?
Not a fan but I will be adding one to the channel as it’s the last Avante I don’t have.
Well then, I now know what parts of the car to check if I'm ever buying one.

The motor cage is also not original - looks like a painted sonic fighter one
Show the seller the video of the opening and send it back, its unexceptable. what a joke.
I’ll buy the avante
😄😄😄😄😄
Ask for the cash back. I would have lost my sh@#t.
