      An Insider in Reverse Black Shell Cordovan is my daily carry. I'm a minimal wallet guy and I think the Insider is thin enough to qualify, while having more room than a fully minimalist carry, as I have to carry Yen since japan is pretty cash based. I love the damn thing, and I own a Port and a Two-bit. Next up...I'd like a Enfold.

    Having asked this on their Facebook page you’ve just shown me how this handles other cash notes. Thanks for that 👍🏻 I love these wallets. I had an order made for an Enfold Card wallet but with the exchange rate, import costs and such I cancelled it for now. I still want that and the Insider though. Awesome gear 😀👍🏻

    I really really wish those edges had not been left raw. That may look like an aesthetic choice however raw edges leave the leather unprotected from moisture and other impurities. Moisture can accumulate inside the fibers of the leather and produce all sorts of awful smells and mold. Edge finishing should be a standard in leather craft not a feature.

    Eventually I chose One Star. It is a great wallet. Looks good, smells good, sized good.

    I got a Port wallet from them a couple of weeks ago and I am 100% satisfied. Great leather and the workmanship... second to none! That’s the appeal in my opinion, they pay attention to every detail. I couldn’t find a single flaw in the wallet and the price is right.

    I have owned one of these Insider wallets for about 7 months now. For the last 8 or 9 months I have been trying different wallets out, including the wallet I started with, the Mitchell money clip wallet, then trying the Crazy Horse Craft, the Lost Dutchman Finnegan and Big Finn, the Trayvax contour, the Open Seas Gundeck and a few others.
    The one I have carried the most is the Craft and Lore Insider. It is close to a perfect form factor that can carry all the cards I need, allowing for easy access to a few cards, and just enough cash capacity to meet my needs. I like it enough that I just picked up another insider to add to my collection.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  Год назад +1

      Great to hear! What's the one thing it does better than the others that kept you coming back?

    • @martintanz9098

      @@walletopia I like a wallet small enough for front pocket carry, ability to carry 4 to 7 bills, and ability to keep IDs separate from credit cards, but have easy access to both. The Insider hits on that pretty well. it is a combination of a small form factor, easy access to cards, with just enough organization to make it work for me, and ability to carry just enough cash that it isn't a problem.
      Comparing wallets, the Crazy Horse Craft had a nice form factor, but in terms of accessing cards and cash, fell short of my needs in both areas. It is an excellent wallet if all you need is access to one or two cards, and maybe limit cash carrying to a couple of bills. So I sold that one off to a friend who seems to like it.
      In terms of card carrying capacity, the Insider is equal to the Lost Dutchman Big Finn and the Open Seas Gundeck, but better at giving me access to the cards and organizing them. The biggest disadvantage of the Big Finn is the flap on the front and accessing cards and especially cash inside. I am not crazy about digging up bills in the back of the Lost Dutchman, and I tried using as a cash wrap and didn't like it. The Open Seas gundeck is pretty easy access to cards, but no organization at all, and again, the same issue accessing cash in the back of the wallet behind the cards. .
      I really like the cool factor and rugged aesthetic of the Trayvax Ascent, and it does work at keeping IDs separate from credit cards, and the pull tab is very cool. Unfortunately, the cash carrying falls short and it really is just good for 2, or at most 3 emergency bills folded into thirds or quarters, which I hate to do. The Craft and Lore allows me to fold bills in half while giving me easy access, and is good up to maybe 6 or 7 bills, which is about what I like to carry.
      The Mitchell money clip is equal in form factor, better at cash carrying as I can carry about 10 bills in the money clip before it starts to feel overstuffed, and equal in card capacity, but has somewhat of a more refined aesthetic.
      So for a rugged look and feel, the Insider. For a more polished look, the Mitchell is the better wallet.

    The quality of the wallet looks Awesome! No doubt, but the pockets could use a little more slots, and if over stuffed, in cash 💵 or cards💳 mostly cards, then it becomes probably to bulky to close. But overall great 👍 review! Gotta say again like the show on videos of wallets, keep up the info on them 😊👍

    I am looking to get a new wallet and am debating between this craft and lore insider and the trayvax ascent. • @walletopia

      I'm not familiar with a wallet that is designed to specifically handle 50 bills, but I would suggest a wallet with a money clip versus one with a billfold pocket. More flexibility that way.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  4 года назад

      If you want a "minimalist wallet" footprint you're generally stuck folding cash (not always, but mostly), so yes, it's one of the compromises for a smaller wallet footprint.

      @@walletopia Well yes and no... some makers are clearly superior in terms of finishing and details. Benjamin Bott comes to mind. You should definitely check him out. Some of the best polished edges in the industry at any price point.
      Craft and Lore is also amazing. I own and love several of their wallets but they are a little rougher and "less finished"

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  4 года назад +2

      @@m.e5544 Thanks Marc, I've got one from Benjamin Bott, very nice, we have that review coming up. I tend to perceive that most (but not always), a correlation of the edge treatment fitting the presentation to the market they're shooting for. Sticking with Craft & Lore it's more outdoorsy, rough and unfinished, going after that customer type, whereas Carl Friedrik leans more sophisticated and refined and their edge treatment, which is very unique, shows. Overall I think it demonstrates that they're putting great thought into who their target customer is and how their products appeal to them. Honestly, the fact most makers place attention on it at all shows me how much they care about their end product.
