    Do you carry more cash than cards? Seems counter to where wallets are headed.

      I love the innovative design and I do carry more cash than cards, are there any other "clever" and "cash focused" wallets which aren't as expensive?

      When in Japan? Absolutely more cash than cards, and the hunt for the best way to carry brought me here.

    I bought this wallet after watching this video. I love the clever design and was looking for something that was slick and could hold cash and coins. The recommendation for 5 flat cards is true, after inserting a 6th card, it gets incredibly difficult to remove any card at all and requires a fair degree of effort. If you do have no choice and must have a 6th card, I recommend using the cash wrap area behind the card slots so you can use the coin pouch to pinch the side of your 6th card. Going above 1 card in that area risks warping the leather. Be aware the 6th card won't be as secure as the other 5. All-in-all, I kind of wish it had a quick access card slot for a total of 6, but it's a good wallet. Definitely too pricey but I like it. Be aware that the cards will exhibit some wear and tear through peeling edges because of the need to push the cards out to access them!

    Loved the review and what a great looking wallet. Having been to Japan many times, I can assure anyone that may be curious, that coin holder of the wallet will last you approximately 1 transaction and then be full. You collect coins soooo fast over there when you're not used to them being as valuable as they are there.

      It's so crazy how many coins you use and you have to have a good mix between ju-yen and hyaku-yen too, or you're stuck.

    When you put those dimensions up it broke my brain. Way too close to minimal card sleeves, and also not nearly as square as it looks in the video, so I had to look it up. Actual dimensions are 98mm x95mm x 7mm (when empty). Sanity restored. That's 3.86in x 3.74in x .28in for the folks confused by mm.

      I have both and prefer the Abrasus small Wallet. Because it is incredibly compact and the coin handling is much easier than in the Abrasus thin wallet. But also a really nice wallet, no question.

    Hey Mark! I was considering buying this wallet, but their website doesn’t give specifics concerning the leather; are you positive it’s full-grain?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  4 года назад +5

      Yes, it's a Japanese full grain, specifically Nume leather, which has been stamped with the pattern you see. On the original Japanese language site, it explains this, but isn't there on the English version which I put in the notes.

    • @O_Rei
      @O_Rei 4 года назад +1

      walletopia You see, their website says that the Nume leather is used only for the “Danbo” edition of the wallet! Isn’t that the case?

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  4 года назад

      @@O_Rei they also use Buttero Italian leather. It depends on the model apparently as I look on the Japanese source site. Elsewhere they say "natural cowhide" which can mean a few things, but is the starting point of full-grain leather. superclassic.jp/?pid=16355432

    Hi again Mark, could you tell me if this wallet would fit an English £1 coin in the coin section please ? Ten Yen is far thinner I know. Otherwise I will buy the Abrasus small wallet, which looks like it will fit a £1 coin and some £20 notes. Again many thanks for your super helpful and professional reviews ! All the best John

    • @walletopia

      Hi John, boy I wish I could test that. I've tried to hit a currency exchange booth several times of the past couple months as I've travelled to pick up some additional currency and coins and they've all been closed. Knowing that the 1 pound coin is 2.8mm thick it does appear to fit when I apply my digital measurement to it.

      If you have more cards, you can always buy their Slim Card Case (which can hold up to 10 cards) and attach it to this one, making it a 2-in-1 wallet. The concept is quite ingenious I must say.

    • @MrMozkoZrout
      @MrMozkoZrout 3 года назад

      It can actually fit 7 cards, its about the max and adding more would get too tight, but with seven its still totally usable

    I can't fathom where people got the idea to call something like this a wallet. A wallet has individual slots of cards. I shouldn't have to be forced to stick all of my 7 cards in one spot. I need my ID and debit card regularly. I gotta pull every single card out if I just need one?
    Also, who tf has a single key that they're carrying around that needs to stick it in a dedicated slot in their wallet? You don't have car keys on you, no key ring? Just a pocketful of loose keys?
    Unless you live in Europe, a coin pouch is irrelevant. When I'm in the US, if the cashier goes to hand me less than 50 cents, I just tell them to keep it. Or, I bite the bullet and stick it in my pocket. It's not hard, and adding that stupid little compartment that holds 3 nickels and a quarter isn't saving anyone a whole bunch of ass pain.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  3 года назад +8

      Outside of the US, coins are used a lot, many of them. Japan is especially that way...still despite being heavily digitized. Same goes for the key. Most people use public transport and need a key for their apartment, or a backup for that key in the event their backpack/briefcase is stolen/lost, etc.

    • @karols4934
      @karols4934 3 года назад +2

      This isn't made for the US Market, where I live we don't carry ID because nobody asks and unlike in the US, nobody feels the need to have any more than two credit cards.
      Coins are worth a lot, five coins could easily add up to over 10 US dollars where I live.
      Public transport is so developed in some parts of the world that you don't need a car, so one key for your apartment is ideal to carry in your wallet.
