Alice Cooper was utterly bland pop punk, shock rock toned down for teeny-boppers. The fact he was invited to the Muppet Show tells you everything about how dangerous he wasn't.

Alice always seemed like such a good dude.
There is a video on RUclips where Alice Cooper talks about appearing on the Muppet Show. Has was asked and had second thoughts about appearing because he had created this horror character of himself. So he asked for the names of guests they had on previously. The reply was Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Sellers, and it was only then he decided to do it and it was one of the best Muppet Shows ever.

When Alice got detox for his drinking problem in 1978 (the album "From The Inside" details the situations in the form of a concept album), Alice did change a bit. He became more conservative over the years, he became a born again Christian, he made friends with neighbor Pat Boone, and his recent comments about transgenders were taken at face value as controversial. Not to mention that he says that his "Alice Cooper' persona is just a stage act. Offstage, he's just Vincent Furnier, and don't forget he was the son of a Detroit minister. Sam might change his mind about Alice/Vince's recent viewpoints. Sam would also be appalled at the recent accusations of Bill Cosby, and would call him out on being a phony family role model, which it turns out he is definitely not.

I love that Alice Cooper was not too cool for the Muppet Show… and that Jim Henson and Company (both human and muppet) welcomed him and his theatrics. It’s the best episode aside from Sir Elton John’s appearance IMHO.
Alice Cooper was reluctant to do it at first because he didn’t want to get of his Alice persona. He changed his mind once they told him Vincent Price had done the show.

Compared with the Insane Clown Posse or the Norwegian death metal band who burned churches and used one of their own members' suicide as a photo for their next album's cover, Alice Cooper is positively quaint.
