So i hope everyone enjoys this one. If you do give it a share! Use this pinned post if you can think of anymore differences. Another one i just remembered is the zleh has a shorter dipstick for more oil capacity.
I would like to add that the LET and LEH conrods are actually different, the LET one has a little oil squirter hole drilled all the way into the bearing which the LEH doenst have because it has proper oil squirters. Also the camshaft sensor plugs are different
Ben Lee well you expect the nuts and bolts on a used car to be dirty and rusty or you’ve never worked on a car before so you will have trouble anyways.
I'm fairly new to the channel (and I'm slowly working my way through all the videos), but I'm really enjoying Aaron's work! I'm gradually converting the rest of the lads in the workshop, and getting them to follow the channel (it's quite amusing to see technicians and engineers in a workshop full of expensive/exotic stuff, huddled around a computer screen, getting excited about a LET or a smokey old CVH!). It's nice to see someone on RUclips who actually knows what he's talking about, because let's face it, there's a lot of guys on here who have fancy workshops and snazzy video editing, and it's a case of "all the gear, no idea... " (I wouldn't trust half of them to sweep the garage floor!). When you hear Aaron discussing A/R ratios on turbochargers and surface coatings on engine components, you just instantly know in the back of your mind, that he knows what he's doing! He's a good inspiration for the younger and newer guys, who are interested in getting involved with engine work - it just goes to show that even with a simple set of axle stands and a home garage, you can still do a really good job if you take your time, do your research, pay attention to detail and approach the task with the right mindset. I/We are assuming that Aaron is a "master tech mechanic" or "engineer" of some variety? Keep up the good work fella, we're really enjoying it! Bloody beautiful mate , thank you so much for going to the time to make such a informative video , I am rebuilding my z20let is Australia now with a garret g30 setup and we will be taking your advice in regards to billet main caps and balancer shaft delete kit , love the small important details of lifter manufacturing by INA , your a legend mate . Thank you
What a mega video! I’m a Vag guy and watching your videos makes me want a Astra GSI Big time! Thanks for your videos Aaron always look forward to watching them.
Another bang on vid bud, why are you not working for a race team or building engines for Courtney, your knowledge on these motors is priceless, fair play to ya. Love watching
I don’t own a vauxhall, but I’ve watched you videos for years now, your knowledge is unreal! If my Alfa JTD engine ever goes boom, you might be the guy I’d be ringing, as GM shared a lot of parts with Alfa Romeo at the time.
Cracking video once again, really really love these long in-depth videos of yours, so packed with info will have to watch this one twice 😄 if you ever open your own garage offering rebuilds for these engines all the other garages that do the same would go out of business 😂 can't wait to see next upload 🙏🙌👍
Great video Aaron, amazing work that you do, very interesting and informative, don't think their is any other channel that comes close to your knowledge of an engine 👌😀👍
Aaron.. again ... your knowledge is amazing. You could read us the telephone directory and I'd listen! Please do a question and answer vid so you can explain where you learnt all this!
your amazing Arron. i’m a porsche man but love this channel and had my fair share of vauxhall’s myself. your knowledge is excellent second to none mate 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Just a quick one - if you or anyone reading this needs any Opel bits, whether it's badges or whole engines, I can help you out by sourcing in Poland and sending safely to the UK. Would love to see you do a Astra H TwinTop opc sometime 😁
Been watching your videos for a while now, the quality and knowledge is always on point! Great information to no, not into Vauxhall’s or evos but still watch haha keep em up 👍🏻
mate you need to get that subframe sorted and make a video , i have a full front subframe & rear axel , polly bushed and powdercoated ready to fit on my GSI and need some guidance lol , i have a haynes manual but might as well be in Egyptian . great stuff great videos for us guys that want to learn - also the vxr brake upgrade is that a straight swap and does it make it heavy on the front end steering wise
Great video mate unreal knowledge on these cars and engines always watch your videos for advice and what to do, think you should do more off the show on the parts you replace and what you do to them for a more in-depth look on what you do to your cars
Pretty sure the black piston skirt coating is molybdenum disulfide, meant to reduce friction massively, its not Nikasil .. Nikasil is on aluminium cylinders to give the aluminium surface a hard plating to stop rings ripping them apart. Coming from the 2stroke mx bike world, when Nikasil plating chips off the cylinder walls and the piston ring grabs the bare aluminium they seize as they grip/dig the aluminium.
Perfect timing Aaron, i am going VXR turbo on my LET at the end of the month, i spoke to Courtenay Sport regarding an oil restrictor and apparently the VXR turbos now have oil restriction built in and don't need extra restriction, they said if i fit one then it will damage the turbo mate?
Hi Aaron, Great videos, your knowledge is really refreshing to have someone who actually knows about what they are talking about! I have a question on the oil cooler. How does the thermostat work. With the water-oil cooler, would the thermostat not be open straight from cold to allow the oil to heat up faster? But if you had an oil-air cooler, you would want the thermostat to stay shut untill high oil temps, so you would need a different stat in the cooler? Regards Dave
Where do the z20lel and z20ler fit into this? Are they more the same as the let or the leh? Just got myself a twintop astra 2.0 turbo 200bhp from a salvage yard, was smoking badly, fitted new turbo core, service, new breather hoses etc and it's running beautifly now. Then I stumbled across your video for the cam cover gasket as mine had a small leak and changed that too. You really know your stuff 👍
The lel and ler are the same base engine as the let just runs off a CAN ecu management. Lel is the 170bhp and ler is 200bhp. Same engine different map.
Great video. Great info also. Did you know that the generic toca engine used in the BTCC is loosely based on the the Vauxhall LEH. I think lol. Could be the LET. Started life as a Vauxhall engine!
Hi, i'm going to buy an astra mk4 let this weekend, it's still at 200 hp but it has a leh turbo. What can i do to it to be stronger and allow more abuse? I dont want more hp but i want it to be safe to be abused. Many thanks in advance and nice video
my astra gsi has a massive oil leak and its covering all the pipes in a oil type film, any ideas how to solve that? im going to be changing all gaskets and valve stem seals on the 11th June. i just need to know what would be best way to prevent any more oil leaks.
Hello Aaron keep up the good work. You got interesting topics. I want to ad an oil temperature gauge to my LET. Maybe you can make a video how to install a oil temperature/pressure gauge on the engines. Greetings Jean-Paul
Aaron have you watched any "4 cylinder performance" vlog's? ,it popped up on my recommendation feed, wow is all I'm going to say,go watch his engine build vlog, loctite arp studs..workmanship is shocking to say the least..
Thoroughly enjoy your vids bud. Wealth of knowledge 🙌🏾 I'm in a situation where I can buy a complete Z20LET engine for less than I can rebuild my broken Z20LEH. Would I be at a disadvantage? Obviously I'll slap on my VXR turbo and the injectors. Would appreciate the advise
Can you please do a ler Vs leh please. I know ler has the let turbo let maf and let injectors. With a leh throttle body. I've noticed the ECU is at the back instead of the side. And I'm not 💯 but I think the ler also has the oil squatters. And same M32 gearbox but alot smaller of a clutch
Hi Aaron im rob and I'm in need of some help and looks like ur the man to talk to about the z20 engine me and a friend recently got a zafira gsi as non runner no compression on no3 the engine in the car was a z20let would it be possible to fit a z20leh engine in it ???? Hopefully u or someone can give me some advice tha ks rob
Such great info. I have a 07 sri turbo. My mate who is a mechanic says its a ler engine, im so confused. Im rebuilding and forging it, safe for 20-25psi of boost?
Is it possible to fit those on an 1.8 CSE? I have been struggling with my engine, I now have been looking for its Crankshaft all over South Africa. The engine is X18XE120Z45598. Please advise, and if you do have let's work on how I can get it for my car.
Arron how hard is it to change wheel bearings mate my back ones have gone on my Corsa Vxr burg? And was wondering if you have a standard or any pre cat lying around thanks bud. Can I ask are you near Manchester way
By the way mate it is next to impossible to buy a z20leh oil pick up and girdle here , can you please see if this is something you can price up to send to Melbourne Australia . Thank you Aaron
Hi mate,I'm new to the z20let engine,I've watched a few of your videos, would you recommend victor reinz valve stem seals? I remember you said elring seals were to tight on the stem, help would be great please 😊😊
Hello sir, I watch a lot of your videos and I am very delighted. I'm learning a lot but today I bought an Opel Astra VXR 2 liter turbo, I need help from you to fix a turbo pressure problem and have a diagram to connect the small hoses between my dump valve and intake especially since normally I should have a pressure of 1.2 bar and I only go up to 0.800 I must also check the tightness of my turbo boost circuit. if however seeing how passionate you may be could be of help. I would like to send you photos by exposing my problem on my Astra but on which site could we discuss? thank you for your precious time and your help cordially.

Quality content as always!
Have you got z20leh engine?
MikadoRC I like a proper squirter
Iv put a z20 let turbo on an leh do I need any tweaks for it? Thanks in advance lads
Pretty sure this bloke has wrote the Haynes manuals for Vauxhalls. Learnt more from this video than i ever did at college !
Totally flabbergasted by Aarons knowledge. Total respect to this geezer.
Ben Lee well you expect the nuts and bolts on a used car to be dirty and rusty or you’ve never worked on a car before so you will have trouble anyways.

I’m fitting a leh turbo to a let and from looking at the turbo it has the oil feed restrictor built in. Not sure if that’s a new thing
Would love you to give mine a health check, unbelievable knowledge.loving the content.👍
I don’t even like Vauxhall but ur vids are always interesting 👍
What about z20lel engine. Which one is better for tuning?
Great videos , not much true information about on the z20 engines , one question i do have is the ler engine the same has the let engine?
PISTON SLAP SOUNDS LIKE A NIGHT WITH JOHNNY DEPP
Great video. Great info also. Did you know that the generic toca engine used in the BTCC is loosely based on the the Vauxhall LEH. I think lol. Could be the LET. Started life as a Vauxhall engine!
Btcc toca engine uses a z20net as a base as its chain driven.
These videos are brilliant.
i have a Astra H Sri Turbo am wanting to take the engine out and put it in a corsa c. what will i need?

How much does a Z20LEH go for? Engine only
Is the z20ler any different again?
Hi Aaron, I’m taking the engine out of my SRi 190 tomorrow. Would appreciate some help/advice when it comes to the rebuild
amazing video
I would like to know if your running standard rods what rod bolts would you put in for a upgrade?
will either of these motors fit in a Tigra twin top?

how did it break, I'm looking to buy a astra with a Z20LEH
Oh, plus please explain if it is a good idea to run the 3.3 bar FPR with the VXR injectors. If it's fine, do you need to map if right away?
I am think swoping my Focus st for vxr what bhp can I run on Changing the exhaust the intercooler and air in take
I swear my c20let had mahle pistons in it but it was 15years ago when I strip it down, god this brings back memories
Can you please do a ler Vs leh please.

With a leh throttle body.
I've noticed the ECU is at the back instead of the side.
And I'm not 💯 but I think the ler also has the oil squatters.
And same M32 gearbox but alot smaller of a clutch
So is the block ladder brace standard on Z20LEH or an extra? Thanks
How do you know all this stuff 🤔
Thanks for this video Aaron and sharing your knowledge. How did I get in touch with you please.
Good day just a quick question on the z20let with std internals and arp rod bolts what is the maximum power it could handle ?
