Kendall Ellis has ran some historic anchor legs when she in college, and running the NCAA championships. Here, she had huge lead and smartly save her strength for the straight, in case there was going to be a battle. She moved away with ease, great anchor leg running by this experienced relay runner !

Give Ellis credit for proper pacing. But what's happened to the Dutch cheerful celebration for coming in 2nd? They used to jump up and down for joy..now look at them..kinda gloomy. Strange.

I said it elsewhere, in the 4x400m Women's and Mixed the Netherlands is so dependent on Femke winning it for them, pulling the chestnuts out of the fire for them. Without her they would be nowhere. In this race they left her with 1.5 secs to catch up on a world class athlete, she virtually sprinted the first 200m to get past Ireland and had just enough left to keep Ireland out in the end

I'm saddened by the fact that she's always on the receiving end as far as pressure to win is wholly left for her as her solo responsibility from time to time.
In this race, it's beginning to show that fatigue is catching up & taking its toll up her.

Kendall Ellis was very lucky that Bol started 2 seconds behind her and also had to overtake several other runners around the outside in both turns, which add 7 to 8 meters (= 1 second) to the difference, of this 3 seconds in total actually close the gap to 1 second, but of course 3 seconds is to much to bridge. It was undoable this time, cause Femke was too close in the first corner to the other contestants. Which would force her already to go around/wide in the corner to pass them. If you have to go wide in two corners you make way too much extra meters, but when you stay behind you are held up by the slower runners. The third one come over the line benefited so much from the draft from the runner before her that she could stay next to Femke. That may seem a little below Femke's standard, BUT Femke had to pass several people around the outside in both the first and especially the 2nd corner (she basically ran most of the lap in the second lane). That will easily be 7 or 8 meters extra distance for. And the average speed on a 400 is about 8.5 m/s. In other words, 7 to 8 meters add a full second to her time. Conclusion Femke actually ran a 48.5 (!) anchor leg. Now how come that people are Hosana! when Paulino runs a 84.5, but when Femke does basically the same it is "duh, poor performance"???
