One of the greatest finishes in history Unbelievable last meters
I think that is the greatest thing I ever saw on a track. After falling in the mixed relay final. To run down the Jamaican like that to steal the gold. I had to watch it 10 times to believe what I was seeing..

The dutch women got me crying and all that. What a performance. Sheer will power and devotion in each leg they gave their utmost. The come back was unbelievable.
Agreed! I'm a Dutch and was watching it live with a friend of mine. I thought silver was the maximum that was possible. But when this happend I was yelling and nearly crying... unbelieveble...
Considering how the World Championships began for Bol (stumbling 10m from the end & losing the gold in the mixed relay), it's one of the all-time moments for me.

All the Dutch women were in great shape, the order was perfect.
Absolutely, the coach had the lower ranked runners followed by the fastest. Saalberg (50), Klaver (6), Peeters (NR), Bol (3).

Femke Bol received a congratulatory message from Usain Bolt after the race. She said afterwards that Bolt is her favourite athlete of all time. What a great finish.

The fact that she started the week in an undignified splat face down on the ground and losing out on the medals, and then ended with this majestic and truly incredible sprint finish to end with gold, made this an all time great moment in athletics history.
never saw that... 8-10 meters behind with 60-70 meters to go and win that race in a "short" 400m run.
began the tournament with falling and ends with rising. historic and epic.
Klaver and Bol were incredible, respect 👏🏆

Wow what a phenomenal final leg! Sensational run and epic finish from Bol. I thought the Jamaican had it in the bag. The distance was quite far but Bol really was a machine. What she did there was something truly special. I got goosebumps all over and I could not believe my eyes but seeing is BOLieving. This will remain etched in my mind for a long time. Congratulations to the Dutch team. Fantastic job!

All 4 deserve credit in this relay. Lieke Klaver received the baton in good conditions and gave it in 3rd place to Femke. So, All did great.

Stacey-Ann Williams didn't run her PB in this race. It is a myth! Not to mention that you can't improve a 400m PB in the 4x400m relay. Williams had a SB of 50.12 prior to Budapest. So without a doubt she ran slower in this final.
What an athlete. I was a fan before this race, now I am in love. Her technique is just amazing

I love Natalie Kaczmarek. Unfortunately her team was not fast enough this time so we could not see her great sprint. I miss the days with Swiety and Baumgart but I am sure the team will come back. (am german btw).

Remember seeing bol in one if her first ever races. She was a little girl with so much power. Now she's one of the best
Great run by all 4 of the Dutch women! They all stayed disciplined and smart by not going full speed in the first half of the lap, but keeping up good speed until the end of the lap. Lieke Klaver was a powerwoman, making up lost ground, running from 4th position on the outside all up to the front runners at the handover. Respect!

What a run that was..I've seen it live and still come back to this vid regularly and still can't fully grasp what she just did there. Didn't know Femke before that race, since I'm not a fan of the sport per se, only watching main events like olympics etc. Since that day I am a huge fan of her. Huge talent with an awesome personality

Femke is, relatively speaking, a slow starter, but she can maintain her overall high speed towards the finish line where other athletes obviously slow down in the last part of the race. To win this 4x400m relay for the Dutch team, Femke though needed to increase her speed at the last straight. Thanks to her great teamspirit and unbreakable determination she deservedly succeeded. 🙌💪🥰

Everybody seems to think that the Jamaican athlete seized up, but her distance to the British athlete tells a different story! Bol SURGES in the final 20 meter like I have never seen a 400 meter runner surge. Time it!! It is unprecedented.
Thats why she holds 400m & 500m Indoor WR's. Fantastic endurance tank of power.

Watch again, the Brit was very close to catching the Jamaican on the line but was a long way off entering the final straight. But Bol did a tremendous surge.
not quite unprecedented, remember Floria Gueï for France in Zurich 2014...
It also helps that Bol is tall and has long strides. A little push in speed will go a long way.

I watched this in a Bar in Graz, on my feet, cheering wildly for the Dutch, didn't think they would quite manage it, but once that baton was passed to Fantabulous Femke, that was it, Never in doubt. I reckon I've watched this pretty much every day since last September, simply Brilliant by the Dutch Ladies x

It looks that way because Bol is very tall (6 ft +/1.84 m). Running speed is a function of step frequency and step length. It is well known that the average stride length and step length increases with height.
Bol is just an incredible athlete! stunning run.

Germany was not so long ago one of the biggest Atletics Euro country and with many World succes. Whats going on in Germany?
@@QuamfyMarc Everything you can think of. I heard that the Dutch top athelets get 6000,- € a month from the state. In Germany they pay 800,- a month. For the rest you have to work or find good paying sponsors. In Italy they pay 25.000,- € for a gold medal. In Germany 6000,-. It's like always. They expect world class but they only pay peanuts.
@@nikolauswolff5791I am pretty sure Dutch athletes do not get 6000 euro a month from the state. Athletes with Olympic or topsport status get funding but that is nowhere near that amount. They do get lots of additional support (training facilities, equipment, counseling etc) through their respectice sport federations and through the Dutch Olympic Committee.
I don't know what British athletes get paid. Dina Asher Smith was advertising muller yogurt for a while. But our national lottery supports our Olympic sportspeople a lot.

She didn’t come from nowhere, they all knew she was the fastest, they all knew she started to fast in the mixed. Now she was controlled behind the front runners, they were trying to extend, and in the past 100 Bol just put it in 6th gear and was gaining. Agreed I didn’t expect the gold, but silver was always there.
I think 'winning from the front' is a hard task! That running scared feeling. 'Chasing-down' is a different buscuit.
First 200 meters in was thinking no bronze its gonna be but that last 200 mtrs she was stalking a prey, you could see she was hunting. Epic performance
