Supposedly (allegedly) the story for RE8 was actually meant to be the story for RE Revelations 3. According to the rumor, the higher ups were NOT happy with the story for RE8, and in order to save time (& money) they opted to take the story that was planned for Revelations 3 and move it over to RE8. According to leaks, RE Revelations was expected to come out in 2021 or 2022, and now there is ZERO news on it...so this does add credence to the rumor.

Am disappointed with Drinker's reaction of Kafka as unlike the Divine Comedy stuff in Rev 1, Kafka, especially Metamorphosis, is thematically relevant to this story. So far even the newer Resident evil games have not pandered to any western social media bullshit. They still star real characters, be it sometimes over the top but they are not check box diversity people. They didn't force Ethan in RE7 into a mix race marriage because "representation" or have him out to be a beta cuck in RE8 needing to be saved by a strong woman. They didn't make Chris in RE8 suddenly gay or into weird fetishes or some poor absent dad. Even in Revelations 2, Barry's backstory being a parents makes sense and Moria's progression and personality also makes sense giving her past. Claire isn't some shill for vegan climate change shit or sticking it to the patriarchy. She's a working woman focused on a job.

The resident evil series is one of my favorite series. I love the survival horror and the action games for different reasons. Alex Wesker was mentioned in resident evil 5 during the conversation between Wesker and Spencer.

I loved both revelations games. The steps they took back towards more slow, deliberate gameplay helped make it more of a survival horror game than RE5 and RE6 were. And damn, the amount of hours I put into Raid mode is truly astounding. I also just have to say the 3ds version of Revelations is my favorite.

Game is in my top 5....and honestly...I'm totally happy with the "compromise" of old school survivor horror roots & new school action combat. Great balance with a very fun story/characters.

This was excellent in co-op with the missus. I played the unarmed characters while she shot everything. You'd think this would be less enjoyable, but honestly from a challenge point of view it was great fun.

Not to pull an "acckkkksshhhually" but Alex Wesker and her labs were mentioned by name in Resident Evil 5s DLC. So she's less of a retcon and more of a quietly mentioned character. It surprised me too going back through RE5 after beating Rev 1 and 2 earlier.

I played it on the switch with the motion controls and it was some of the most fun I had. Reloading with the gesture and aiming for the head was sweeeeeeeeet.
Also completing the campaign with a friend is really something else... I would 100% say I like revelations 2 (because 1 is too slow) more than RE 5 and 6 for sure.
AND ADDITIONALLY the multiplayer modes that work as an rpg shooter with scaling difficulty are really awesome to play, this game has a lot of merits to it.
VII and VIlage were fun but reminded me more of a movie like Evil dead (the original ones) than a resident evil game.

I actually got this for a very odd reason.
For me, 5 was the mostly satisfying end to a long journey with the final rocket to Wesker's face being the exclamation point ending the story. Sure, I tried 6 but....gawd. Revelations 1 was just a bit of background filler that wasn't bad but kinda okay.
But, with Revelations 2, I decided to give it a try for one reason.
    Barry Burton.
Not counting any "blink and you'll miss it" cameos, he had only 2 games and RE Gaiden was so bad that Capcom publicly denounced that game. Where Leon got another chance and became the golden boy of the series, Barry seemed doomed to be forgotten.
So, when Revelations 2 came around, as weird as it may sound, it just appealed to my sense of .....fairness....justice.....I don't know what .....to give Barry a fair go for what would be his last adventure. After all, given that RE is keeping a loose concept of aging with the characters similar to the Judge Dredd comics, Barry was 51 by the time (2011) that Revelations 2 was set in. While not exactly old, that's definitely around the time that you stop seeking out physical confrontation with zombies.

I like to think Revelations series as a testing the waters concept to study if there's still a demand for a more grounded, self-contained, horror-oriented Resident Evil. Rev1 was pretty close at achieving that goal, but the pacing breaks quickly with action-oriented set piece driven levels probably because of 3DS architecture where it's quite challenging to make a horror oriented, focused and self-contained experience and that's probably why they designed it with an episodic feel. Rev2 in my opinion is more polished and more focused experience. The puzzles in Rev1 were been there-done that, run of the mill REpuzzles we've gone through before, but more streamlined. I think Rev2 is more balanced when it comes to action and puzzles. Puzzles aren't complex, but at least they were trying to stand out compared to Rev1's puzzles. I also like Moira's character because she at least has a more fullfilled arc. I'm not bothered by the weak visuals considering the low budget and its lower launch price since it was released in episodes monthly and 40 bucks for a physical version with all the content and DLC's included is a solid purchase in my opinion.

This was a great game. But, besides Claire's face, they really botched her personality - particularly in the scene when they first meet Natalia, and Claire starts giving Natalia the rapid-fire 3rd-degree questions, scaring the child. But as we know, Claire's draw with children, her protective maternal side, was always a feature of her character, going back to RE2 with Sherry. And here, Claire is scary to children - they get her character in that regard 180° wrong.

They actually are working on another Resident Evil Revelations game starring Rebecca. I actually liked Resident Evil Revelations 2 more than Resident Evil 7. I'm pretty sure I like it more than Resident Evil Village but I did really enjoy Village. The development of Resident Evil Village actually started out as Resident Evil Revelations 3. I wish I had a dollar for every time Capcom started a project that eventually ended up turning into something else.

the raid mode however, is where this shit SHINES, the co-op mode is AMAZING in both, if you want some fun, try Revelations 1's Ghost Ship Chaos, it can be BRUTAL but with time, farming and practice, you can shit stomp it.
