President Russell M. Nelson Announces 15 Temples

- In concluding the Sunday afternoon and final session of the April 2024 general conference, President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced 15 new temples to be built around the world.
He said, “Here is my promise. Nothing will help you more to hold fast to the iron rod than worshipping in the temple as regularly as your circumstances permit. Nothing will protect you more as you encounter the world’s mists of darkness. Nothing will bolster your testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement or help you understand God’s magnificent plan more. Nothing will soothe your spirit more during times of pain. Nothing will open the heavens more. Nothing! The temple is the gateway to the greatest blessings God has for each of us.”
Latter-day Saints consider temples to be the house of the Lord and the most sacred places of worship on the earth. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church to receive peace, inspiration, and spiritual power as they enter into sacred agreements with God in His holy house.
Yes! The Spirit has been telling me that a temple was coming to South Houston. When I heard the news, I shouted for joy and burst into tears. We live in South Houston and my wife is disabled with severly restricted mobility. This is blessed news. Thank God and thank President Nelson. ❤

When I watched this live yesterday I literally shouted with joy when he said Yuma, Arizona. I did not hear any of the temples after that. Even now I am overwhelmed with the spirit. I thank God that he is blessing or little corner of the world even though we only have one stake here with a few wards that are in an adjoining stake where it will be closer than the San Diego Temple. I look forward to the growth of the church that will happen because of this blessing.

Congrats to all, especially Houston! I remember when I was a kid and Houstonians had to drive to Dallas to go to the temple, and the Champions (where the existing Temple is located) is pretty far north, nearly halfway to Tomball. In Houston traffic, that's easily hours of driving for some residents of the city. That said, I live in Kansas now, and even after we finally get our first temple in Wichita (Kansas City is in Missouri), it will still be a nearly 3 hour drive (about 180 miles one-way) for residents in my area. That said, we will finally have a temple less than 250 miles away! :) New temples are always exciting, especially for those outside of Utah, many of whom live VERY far from a temple, making it quite difficult to visit one on any kind of regular basis.
We are moving to Iowa this summer and super excited!!!

I'm excited for the houston texas south temple to be revealed and builted there. I know it's about 3 or 4 years away but I still Excited. I was hoping for a temple to be built where I am. Thank you so much president Nelson you're the guy. Thank you for being our prophet in these times.

Arizona currently has six temples of the Church operating: Mesa, Snowflake, Gila Valley, Gilbert, Phoenix, and Tucson. However, I have been under the impression that there would one day be another temple in Arizona. I'm happy to hear my beliefs confirmed with the announcement of Yuma, which will soon be the home to Arizona's seventh temple. The other temples President Nelson announced were great as well. They are a solid testimony of how the Kingdom of God is continuously expanding on the Earth. This was a great General Conference. Thank you President Nelson and everyone else for your divine words.

I love how the members of the church responded to the call for more temple attendance. We overwhelmed the church's web server. It took me a while to be able to get in and make my reservation for our monthly trek to the Phoenix Temple.
