The wireless icon you see at the top shows that the players are connected via the GBA Wireless Adapter. That was a peripheral released for the GBA, coupled with Pokemon Fire Red, that allowed players to hook up wirelessly up to 10 feet apart from one another. Many good times were had in elementary school, battling with my buddies in the other stalls :P
Ice punch is still special in this gen so Ice Beam would be the most accurate Ice move competitively to use. Though he could use Rock Slide but STAB EQ does the same as SE Rock Slide so he's using Ice as an alternative type.
Are you trolling or did you just fail basic math? Protect has a 50% decaying rate. The chance of it succeeding drops 50% of the previous turn's chance of it succeeding. i.e: the chance of hitting protect 3 times in a row is 25% because 25 is 50% of 50, which is the chance of hitting protect 2 times in a row. 100%-50%-(50% of 50)=25%
You know what's funny it's a 1-0 and his last Pokemon was at like 1 hp and he was so lucky to get 4 crits and he dealt with all of them except the last one and still almost won
I came here expecting a junk battle between two 5th genners messing around, but this was actually pretty decent. However, i gotta say, Sub Raikou is by far the most common set, and Sub Skarm was a netbattle gimmick that only worked because of badly implemented mechanics, its not used at all.
I wonder if this apply's to NPC's as well. This happened to me once when battling Winona in Pokemon Emerald. She used protect 3-4 times in a row with her Pelliper.
i faced a mothim in platinum that protected 4 times in a row.
then my last thunder missed.
i started a new game
This was a great game! Really close, bit haxxy but it was so long it was bound to be :)

Great match! One of the best I've seen in a while.
the good old days without team preview and most importantly without stealth rocks
Thanks for uploading a 3rd gen battle.
Great narration plus you gotta love some nostalgia.

Actually, the chance of hitting it three times in a row is 12.5%. .5*.25 = .125. The chance of hitting it on the third turn alone would be 25%.
That Skarmory nickname lmaoo
I clicked on this video because Breloom was a cornerstone of my 3rd gen team.
Yeah, sorry if it came off like that, but that was really hard to ignore.
such a close game
Wow, can't wait to see this video
great battle :) and nice for a change a 3rd gen!
He's not doing it to a cart, he's creating them (probably using ciro's pokemon maker) and using the codes generated in that program in his emulator.
What is the point of HP flying on an Aerodactyl? Doesn't it have access to wing attack?
I apologise, I meant the chance of hitting it alone. I guess this is why I shouldn't write comments early in the morning...

Nice battle!
Both players did well!

His opponent was a very very decent guy with great decisions during the fight.. I have to tell that
yes it would. but in this case, the stab thunderbolt was not very effective. so no
This is the closest match I've ever seen
how do you make your pokemon??
I wonder if this apply's to NPC's as well. This happened to me once when battling Winona in Pokemon Emerald. She used protect 3-4 times in a row with her Pelliper.
Well put it this way, Why have Strength when you can use Double Edge with Rock Head Ability Steelix.
its good to see something new
Third Gen! My day just got beautiful :0
How did you accidentally switch HP Ghost for HP Dark?
Totally didn't know the choice items existed in 3rd gen. lol
What Choice item where around back then?
only coice band i believe
Lol. Winona pulled the same shit with her Pelliper in Emerald.
How do you play Wi-fi on Gen 3 ? What emulator is this?
Now that's just bad luck.
i would love to battle you, you seem like a strong opponite
Geez! Gengar's sprite looks scary in this gen!
wing attack 60 power
hidden power max is 70 power
good match
I am not that familiar with 3rd gen. What's bad about strength Steelix?
Sorry if I'm mistaken but wouldn't a STABed Thunderbolt from a Raikou do more than an unSTABed Super Effective HP Ice to Breloom?
Damn AceStarThe3rd is smart
Well at least it's not a guy using Strength Steelix :]
HP Ice - 70 x 2 = 140 power
Thunderbolt- (95 x 1.5) / 2 = 71.25 power
Not even close.
it happened believe me. i thought it was impossible too.
Magneton doesn't suck.
I have Ruby, Emerald, AND Fire Red
VBA and Hamachi
Nope, the chances go down each time it uses protect. >.>
I miss 3rd Gen. =(
I like 0th gen
Cool opinion bro
Ahhhhhhh, I lol how much tactics you use when you play pokemon.
Curse and ice beam together?
Ice beam is like a surprise to the opponent
Ruby,sapphire and emerald.

Just cb did. Not specs or scarf.
Are you familiar with pokemon..? lol who uses strength on anything?
lol
That's some BS Hax right there
lololol
ell, I have used protect three tiems in a row. So, yea
i love 3rd gen
It goes down by HALF. 100%>50%>25%>12.5%>6.25% and so on. Go read the mechanics in some pokémon website and update yourself. Learn some math, too.
Let go and let God1
