    Wow. Lionel Hampton FEELS his jazz music. HE LIVES IT. Wow x wow. Miss these folk like him and Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Errol Garner, etc.

    Ya gotta love how he gets the audience into it. My guess is most of the audience didn't grow up listening to this music so he's doing something special to get them moving and grooving.

    I saw him in the early 40's in St. Louis when you could lean on the stage. No trouble, just good times.

      he did both...but because it is improvisational...SINGING the BLUES...Blues has words....its jazz...he also did blues...cause he was nice like that...that is why Kenny G is NOT a real jazz musician...because his stuff is recorded and played note by note...a little lesson...those slaves created something good with that call and response in the fields...
