Paul Simon can be a cheap SOB, sometimes. I had a small but revealing encounter with him, and say this from personal experience.

“Artists are very nice, but sometimes they’re not functioning on all eight cylinders.”
    Exactly.
For some reason the more talented a musician is the more delusional and uninformed he or she is - especially it seems when it comes to their statements about geopolitics or other topics.
That includes many jazz musicians, including Miles and a certain British guitar player who he used in the studio, as well as many, many others, especially so-called rock musicians.
I’ll even include the exceptionally intelligent Frank Zappa in that category.
And even though Teo was pointing to an example that illustrated a lack of courtesy and decorum, it’s all consistent.
Some of these so called geniuses border on being idiot savants.
