Charlie Persip was always one of the best small group and big band drummers of
the post bop and hard bop era. I especially liked his work with Dizzy' big band of the mid fifties.

I can never say too much about the kindness of Charlie. I met him in 1968 in Chicago when he was playing for Billy Ekstein. I went to breakfast with charlie, the bass player and pianist. What an honor.
