Making a Door Knocker using Rebar - Rebar Project

- I make a steel door knocker, using rebar, it has the industrial-style look I like.
This door knocker is made from rebar, old nails, and an old pipe wrench which I cut with an angle grinder to make a small steel bit for the knocker to hit and basically just a bit of steel flat bar.
Its finished look had the industrial style look I love to make. It was a good welding project for me I enjoyed it.
The big steel flat bar is 3mm thick, 75mm wide, and 230mm long. The small steel flat bar is 3mm thick and 12mm wide.
The Rebar is 12mm rebar.
The main tools used, Welding Magnets, MIG Welder, Angle Grinder, Alpha brand discs, and Drill bits.

I didn't have an angle grinder, back then. They hadn't been invented yet. I rubbed everything into with a hack saw, and lot of elbow-grease, & dressed it out with a file!

You have a good eye for free form bending the shapes, and use all basic tools , Great job, Really like that Countersink bit you use, it really rips out the metal

Magnífico proyecto maestro, muy bien desarrollado y mejor ejecutado, una aldaba muy rustica y original, excelente resultado final, con todos los trabajos que hace con cabillas corrugadas, le recomiendo que se haga una dobladora casera , hay un montón en RUclips y le facilitaría el trabajo, el tubo y el agujero junto con el tornillo de banco ayudan mucho, pero la dobladora es como más profesional, jajaja, gracias por compartir sus conocimientos y experiencias, un saludo cordial y por supuesto un gran like desde Narón (Galicia) 🤓 🔝

I am using a 240-volt Unimig viper 182, if you search on RUclips there are a few videos reviews, and use of this "unimig viper 182" there is a 185 model out now too. I don't use enough other welders to compare mine to others or even say mine is good, I love mine and it has done everything I want it to do. I hope that helps a bit.

Hi Gavin :) excellent as ever ! your stuff hasn't popped up in ages. Top tip ! Those gloves they sell them here in UK cheap at TK Max they last longer wear better and become almost waterproof by applying Vaseline a heaped teaspoon on wearing the gloves work in place in the sun works amazingly and helps grip which is the opposite you would think:) all the best !
