This caught me by surprise. Glen Campbell owned this song. It’s poetry of the purest form and speaks of a scenario that doesn’t exist in 99% of real life, yet it evokes an emotional feeling in all of us which is undeniable, almost as if we lived this very relationship in our collective past. And with Glenn’s tragic passing, his stamp on this tune was etched in stone. And yet, this cover is so beautifully done that it brings me to the place of sweet heartbreak. The vocal is perfection and the entire production honors the original beyond anyone’s expectations. Absolutely beautiful.
I can't help but than think of sweet my departed listening to this.....every memory I ever had is wrapped up in her...she is truly gentle on my mind...God I love her...sweet gentle soul.
The 60s were my heydays, and I loved Glen's version. I did not believe anyone could recreate this as well. But I was wrong. I love everything about Dylan's rendition. It's perfect and brings back lovely young memories for me. Thank you Dylan. I love so many of your songs.
caught your show last week at The Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC ... great show. Please come back soon to the Upstate of SC (the Radio Room in Greenville?) or Asheville, NC and do an accoustic show ... just you, guitar and a mic.
This is beautiful, Dylan. I am still not happy about missing your last Shreveport show, but I was recovering from a stroke and still quarantining. Vaccinated and recovered, I am ready for the next one...I hope it happens soon! To anyone reading this, it is a real privilege to see Dylan perform, so stroke or not, go see him if you have an opportunity!
I came to see you last night in Nashville. Glens ex wife accompanied me. She also really enjoyed your voice. I live with his son my best friend Dillon... Beautiful cover of this song... ♠️♣️♦️♥️
Such a wonderful arrangement.. you did a great job breathing life into this old ballad from the 60's.. Yes, people say Glen owns this song, and he did a great job, and we miss him, but so did you.. & we'll look forward to listening to your music in the years to come!
I can't wait to get the new EP! This is such an awesome cover. Your voice is so perfect for this wonderful song. One of my favorites! I miss your FB videos but I know you are busy making beautiful music. I hope you are doing well!
Of course. Not sure why John isn’t represented here. His version and being the writer is why I recorded the song. Tho I love Glenn’s version too. It’s Hartford and his other material that made me a fan.
Sad that John Hartford is not credited as the writer of this. 'Originally performed by Glen Campbell'? I think not, Disrespectful to the great Hartford

RUclips's simple like option is insufficient for this comment. Thank you, my friend.
Wow. Love your writing!
This is a beautiful comment.
Its a John Hartford song. Not Glen Campbell
@@marcottavi2655 Hartford's version is probably the best and most real.
Leblanc doesn’t get nearly the amount of attention he deserves

Bellissima e struggente interpretazione. Diceva Charles Trenet " Le canzoni non sono di chi le scrive ma di chi le ama ".

One of the best songs I’ve heard in forever

Heard this on Radio Scotland Ricky Ross show Another Country last night, stunning version of this number, thank you.
What people need to know is that Dylan is a really good songwriter.

If you stay sober, you could last as long as Willie.....who will live forever, it seems.
and of course written by John Hartford

❤️🤞
Beautiful song. It’s a remake of either Bobby Goldsboro or Glen Campbell?🕎
John Hartford, the Bluegrass musician wrote it for Glenn, so technically Campbell's the original. But Hartford recorded it later
Two great voices there.
Sad that John Hartford is not credited as the writer of this. 'Originally performed by Glen Campbell'? I think not, Disrespectful to the great Hartford
7/01/2024: it's harder and harder, further and further, to find these gentle backwoods
