I have probably listened to Southern Raised sing this song more than anyone! Their voices & musical ability are unparalled! I think they are fabulous!!!
Haven't heard it more bass than John Hartford before. John Hartford (my hero) wrote this song and played it while dancing on a piece of plywood he carried to his shows. Story was that, while living in his station wagon, he was called to the record producer to get a royalties check. He asked, How much? They said 100. He thought $100, but they gave him a check for $100,000.
Hey Chaps! Don't forget the great unbeatable John Hartford for writing these immortal lines. Sure, Campbell gets the credit too. But it's HARTFORD all the way.
Just got a chance to see Lyndsey, Emily Grace, Mathew and Alex who make up the group Southern Raised. When you see a group that has a large RUclips presence from posting Videos where you know they are playing to polished tracks, you wonder to yourself are they really that good in person? After seeing them perform at Dollywood twice yesterday they laid that question to rest. The live is just as polished as the track. They are my new favorite group for sure. I’m a bass player and I was blown away by Lyndsey’s solid bass work. Nothing fancy unless you consider her tasteful slide work, really her own style. Just loved this group and could go on for hours about how much I loved their show. Point being if you ever get a chance to see them live don’t miss it.
This Glenn Campbell song was a hit around 1969. I had been wounded in Vietnam and was recovering in a VA hospital and can remember hearing it on the AM radio every morning. These young people I'm sure made everyone remember Glenn Campbell and their rendition is better than the original. Great job and thank you.
Words cannot express how much I freaking love this song. I used to listen to the Tim O'Brien with Bryan Sutton version on repeat. Thanks Southern Raised 🙌
I just love you guys.... This song is one I've always listened to as well. It just doesn't get any better than that. You all have a beautiful path in this lifetime. God Bless each and every one of you. 💜💜💜💜🙏
Very beautiful version of this song Gentle On My Mind ! Love that banjo ! Banjo is one of my favorite string instruments ! Vocals was spot on also ! Thanks for sharing !

There's a saying I favor: "Southern by the grace of God." Comes to mind seeing/listening to this take on the classic. RIP Mr Campbell & t/y Mr Hartford. Signed. A Yankee w/ a Rebel heart. ;-)
I'm shedding tears and tears while I listen to your music, since I've been long long waiting for that you cover this bluegrass song. This is a really gentle tribute to John Hartford who is the man of real Southern Spirit. I love your voices in beautiful harmony. Again, I'm shedding tears and tears. Thank y'all for giving my satisfaction in commemorating John Hartford (1937-2001). Love y'all, Southern Raised. *** Hideki Okunishi: a Fiddle 'n Banjo Lover from the Far East ***
I like the way the violinist plays the exact same part of the song with her feet in the water as she does standing. Great composition of the great Glen Campbell song. 🥰💕❤️
Wow fantastic job on this one guys. I just love the vocals in harmonization. The instrumentals were perfect. You got a love the sound of that loan banjo. Good job guys you should really be proud of yourselves.
TO SAY WE ARE BLESSED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. HOW DID WE GET SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOU ALL IN OUR LIVES? THX FOR UPLIFTING US. SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE BUT PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING. LUV N HUGS. ♫♫♫♥♥
Wow! You search, listen to a lot of music and wait for talent and a group like this to come along. This doens't happen too often, and I am glad to be able to enjoy them.
I saw Southern Raised preform this song popularized by Glen Campbell yesterday in Amarillo, Texas at our Senior Adult Community all I can say is wow they are my number 1 favorite gospel blue grass group now!!! This is the best I have ever heard this song done in harmony. The original writer of the song and G Campbell would even agree!! comment
Is it wrong to say that today 4-30-2024, this song has helped me with the hard stressful day that I've had? Been having a tough time since last week. Thank you for helping bring some peace back into my life with y'all doing these songs in a calming tone.
I had possibly one of the worst days of my life today. Hearing this took me back to riding in the back seat of my cousin’s ‘66 Mustang with this song playing on the radio, and the girls singing along. What a GREAT day that was, and one of many. Yall’s rendition is beautiful! Thank you. I’ll bet there are some scrappy Bluegill and Smallmouth Bass in those eddying pools around you, too! You saved my day! 🌻
Lord, please encourage Emily and help her through whatever she is going through. May she feel Your presence & Your love through all the ups & downs of her life. In Jesus's Mighty Name....
@@ObeyJesusOurLord A simple “thank you” just doesn’t seem like quite enough. . . Your prayer for me is so kind. I feel his presence. I really need this, and you’d better believe that you and all you love will be in my prayers-early and often. God bless you, ‘cause he blessed me with you!♥️🌹🌻
@@emilyevans6989 What a kind & sweet thing to say! Sometimes, in our attempt to encourage another, we end up getting blessed too! I look forward to meeting you when we are ushered into the presence of Jesus and these troubles are behind us! May our Lord Jesus bless & watch over you, Emily. Thank you so much for getting in touch & for your prayers as well! I can assure you that you'll be on my prayer list & I'll be asking God to intervene in your behalf!🙂🙏❤
@@ObeyJesusOurLord thank you for reaching out. Not only does your prayer fortify me, but your kindness brought tears of joy to my eyes and uplifted my heart. I’m not having much fun right now, but I must somehow come to peace with what has happened. I’m trying! Have a lovely day, and thank you again! 🌻
Wow, what an incredible version of John Hartford's classic, a song that's been covered by so many top artists over the years. Your handling of the song is exquisite with great harmonies and instrumentation. You have really captured the 'essence' of the song. Thank you so much!
Simply amazing! Haven’t heard that song since Glen Campbell sang it years ago when I was young. I have certainly enjoyed listening to your music since I heard you sing the song, Grandpa. You all bring back such great memories to my wife, of 54.5 years, and I and we love it. Thank you so very much! Your music and harmony are second to none.
As always, I loved this. Your choices of locations are great. Sibling harmonies can't be beat. Keep entertaining us with your amazing talent. God bless.
This makes me realize that we have picked the ones where we were talking to already for many years. And there are less and less people to talk to. Lots of them are not worth a single word anymore. The talking is with God now, most of the time.
Wonderful song - subtile arrangement - warm voices - very well done, ladies and gentlemen. Thanks for sharing. Please don't wait too long for sharing the next song 🙏. Have a good time. Greets from Germany.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful 🤩 ❤‼️ Great version of this song - such beautiful harmony of voices and instruments 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Thank you for your music 🎶 🎶🎶🎶🎶
