This is probably the best demo I’ve seen on these as far as really demonstrating the different pickup positions/tones available. Great job! Been wanting one of these for a while.
I’m so happy that the Charvel brand has been brought back in fashion! It’s just tragic that Wayne isn’t receiving any compensation for the namesake guitars he invented, especially after having lost his whole world due to the Camp Fire. Wayne and Michael Charvel are the real hero’s behind the origin of the greatest guitars ever built on this planet. Thanks to Mike and Chip at FMIC for keeping the brand alive for the world to embrace.
Holy mackerel! I must be out of my mind. I've been watching and enjoying your videos for at least a year and just now realized I hadn't subscribed. But now, all is well.
Finally someone finally said it, these bridges don't do dive bombs!!! Cheers for the Advice, that single bit of info's stopped me making a move on any guitar with a bridge like this for ages!!
Cam...excellent advice on yanking the bridge back...I’ve had a lot of floyds and you have to do the same thing...give it a little up pull to get it back to tune...its just the nature of the beast!!!!!
Ibanez did a similar color and I loved it on that guitar. Charvel knocked it out of the park with the body color and neck roast color. Absolutely stunning. YAARRRGGGG!!!!!!!
How’s the guitar after spending some time with it? How do you like the neck and what do you think of the pickups? I’m looking at getting one but haven’t been able to play one myself.
@@1080kk I like it, but it’s a departure from what I normally play, Les Pauls. Pickups are great and guitar is very well balanced. It feels quality, too. Neck is a little flat feeling, to be honest.
Curious on why you wish you got the gold? The blue seems pretty nice. Anything wrong with the color? Thinking about getting either blue or gold, but can't decide on the color.
Why Charvel wouldn't make this DK22 with a HSS and Floyd is beyond me. Some people don't want a 24 fret guitar - but they don't want to get less of a guitar just because they want less frets.
Hey Cam. great vid, the guitar sounds sick! Many thanks for commenting on the neck profiles of the DK and San Dimas Charvels! I was one of those who asked you that since there isn't a lot of information about that on the internet. Again, many thanks!
Wow that sounded awesome man, love DPurple, nice tone, nice Axe excellent demo cheers have got one comin in a few days could not resist so many nice sounds to be got with this Axe it sold me on it Cheers
that's the one i was gonna buy but..........i built a warmoth rendition of it and wonder if i should still pick one up since the price is reasonable. Great playing as you always do Cam!!
Damn Cam, I watch way too many gear reviews but this review was just spot on, amazing, great playing, great job dude! I own about 10 Charvels and maybe I need one of these!!
I just got the DK24hh in satin burgundy mist for my birthday and it’s great. I was surprised that the neck is nothing like my San Dimas though. It took me a minute to decide whether or not I liked it. It does it all though!
Nice cover of Blackmore! Great to see you back at it Cam! I love the color and the Hot Rails sounds good. I have the electric blue version and it’s great! Keep rockin out brother! 😎🤘🏻
NICE (both the guitar and the playing😉)👍 Every time I go in a Guitar Center or Sam Ash I play a dk24 2pt and just am blown away by the way they play and how versatile they are. The chlorine blue burst one is my absolute dream guitar. They're awesome
Great review, I’ve been researching this guitar and having been trying to decide between the dk24 the dk22. This video gives me a much better understanding of what tone you can get out of this.
Curious, which did u end up getting??..bc those are exact same two I'm looking at. Also, what are tone differences? I've been searching vids trying to hear comparisons
I got the dk24 hsh green one. Such a nice guitar. I've had core models from PRS, Gibson Les Pauls, fender, Ibanez guitars. I've switched and sold a lot of guitars.. in fact ALL my guitars Except the charvel cause it's just feeling 2 good to play. I've upgraded it with some wilkinzone graphtec sadles and string trees to really be able to dive bomb without breaking strings off/or go out of tune. This guitar stays in better tuning than a FR-guitar with these small upgrades. With that said, I'm here again to buy my next charvel and this one is the one 4 sure. So 2 answer your question... You can't go wrong with 1 of both 🤤
@@thismothafuckasaid7304 I've got both the 22 and 24 fret versions. The two frets makes a difference in tone and feel which is hard to explain. When playing them side by side, I'd rather stay with the 22 fret version. Best I can say is that the 22 fret version is more Strat like.
They have this in the guitar shop but mod with fishmans. I am considering it over a custom that a local Luthier made which is top quality. I think it may come down to the neck.
You guitar work is getting phenomenal. Had a DK 24, didn't like The neck pickup. I even upgraded tuners to Sprezels, rolled the fretboard edges, put Super high gloss fret polishing and a great setup, strings... Just never really vibed with the DK24 or GOTOH 510. I put a German made Floyd Rose upgraded with stainless steel parts on an EVH Wolfgang Standard Standard Bokote Top. other mods to come...
I'm leaning towards this guitar, but prefer a JB Jr in the bridge. I know it's not a Floyd, but I think as long as you keep the nut and string tree lubed you should be fine. I mean, Petrucci (music man) and PRS guitars have non-locking trems and they can handle abuse. Thoughts? I'm growing tired of dealing with a Floyd. String changes would be much quicker and simpler on this. I don't do a ton of whammy abuse, but don't want to sacrifice or regret later. I just prefer a single coil vs humbucker in the neck. The coil split on the San Dimas just isn't the same. So out of all your Charvels...you love your DK the best, which is really saying something, so I am thinking this DK22 will be perfect for me.
Good to have you back Cam! I love my DK24 in Army Drab but those frets get dirty so quick! I find myself polishing them every string change. Do you encounter this too, cam?
What is this 'caramelized neck' thing - I believe it is torrefied ie. roasted maple. Torrefaction is a mild thermal decomposition of a material in order to alter its look and function. Sugar in foods is the only thing you caramelize, while the whole billet of pre-dried wood is what's roasted for the neck and that has very little sugar in it, it's more the cellular structure of the wood that's affected.
Whenever you hear the term baked, cooked, roasted or in this case caramelised it all means the same thing. It's just that every brand has a different word for what the baking process is. I kinda like the word caramelise because the neck actually comes out a caramel colour and smells burnt
You don't seem comfortable with this guitar at all, maybe just need some neck time on it but I'm sure you'd rather be playing your San dimas. Can normally hear your pain, it's not there when you play this guitar and seemed very mechanical which isn't like you. You did say you've been going through some shit tho, you're an X factor cam, love your videos and your playing and just your attitude in general. Great to see you back!
Thought I detected a bit of "Hocus Pocus" by Focus at :38 although I could be mistaken. And at 7:27, kind of sounds like a song from a Quentin Tarantino film. Nonetheless, cool guitar, top-tier playing.
I find the DK22 sounds better than the DK24 but that's cause I like the old neck pickups sounds. And it amazes me how many players don't know how to set the tremolo spring tension right :) Might even need to adjust it as your strings age.
Good to see you, hope your well. The scruff looks good. How bout reviewing this bad boy,HENRIK DANHAGE LIMITED EDITION SIGNATURE PRO-MOD SO-CAL STYLE 1
Pity Charvel didn’t use tapered tuners on these models, would have removed the need for string trees, and helped with the tuning problems. Also using a non fine tuner locking FR, they would hit the ball out of the park. Let’s face it, the elephant in the room are the tuning problems
I don't who this guy is but after the deep purple organ solo he's now my favorite guitarist
Satriani w/ Chickenfoot

Hope you’re feeling better. The fretboard and the guitar color is a match made in shred heaven.
Got to be one of the most versatile guitars out there. Don't usually like gold guitars but even the colour seems to work on this.

This guitar is like a fusion of both a traditional Strat & a Superstrat. And it seems like it feels & plays amazing. Great video.
You made me want a Charvel brotha 😍
