As awesome as it was seeing Gojira performing and seeing Metal represented for the first time at the Olympics, for me nothing will ever come close to Muhammad Ali carrying the Olympic torch, struggling through Parkinson's and all and then lighting the Olympic flame in 1996.

Beyond the fact the performance and composition itself was flawless, the setting, the visuals, the historical relevance, the element of total surprise, and most of all, the massive global audience will realistically be impossible to top. To be able to finally hear all the little nuances in this song is amazing. The guitar work, with the chugging palm mutes, the bend and release, the way the bass works in with it, and the drum work. Very definitive of that Gojira sound. And with the operatic singing. Beautiful work.

I think I've listened to this song more than any other and I'm 49. Captivating and mesmerising don't even come close to describing the f-ing gorgeousness of this performance.
There's something truly special about adding Opera & Orchestral Elements into anything Metal. It just makes the heavier bits feel all that more dark & foreboding, ESPECIALLY using a female singer paired with the male metal vocalist. The Violins pitch is sharp & contrasting to the bass & drums of metal it's literally meant to be!! The Mea Culpa in his gruff, growl sounds so on point too! Very fitting for the meaning of this song.
I can't even describe how proud I felt when I saw Gojira live in TV during Olympics ceremony. I was watching it with my family and when the band starts playing he was like: "Wait, that is Gojira? No way!" We were in shock. Then I felt so proud and then I my eyes went wet. ♥ It was the most epic thing I saw.. Thank you Gojira for this performance. ♥ ( BTW I was glad that comentator from my country was silent during perfomance, so we could fully enjoy)

I was awakened to the Godliness that had unfolded in Paris. The Setting, the Backdrop, the Theatrics. All of it was beyond words. I watched the video over and over and it gave me chills and I cried... every, single, time. Gojira took themselves to a whole other level and did so with the most spectacular presence, and grace, any of us have ever experienced!

There's something truly special about adding Opera & Orchestral Elements into anything Metal. It just makes the heavier bits feel all that more dark & foreboding, ESPECIALLY using a female singer paired with the male metal vocalist. The Violins pitch is sharp & contrasting to the bass & drums of metal it's literally meant to be!!
The Mea Culpa in his gruff, growl sounds so on point too! Very fitting for the meaning of this song.

I can't even describe how proud I felt when I saw Gojira live in TV during Olympics ceremony. I was watching it with my family and when the band starts playing he was like: "Wait, that is Gojira? No way!" We were in shock. Then I felt so proud and then I my eyes went wet. ♥ It was the most epic thing I saw.. Thank you Gojira for this performance. ♥ ( BTW I was glad that comentator from my country was silent during perfomance, so we could fully enjoy)
I cannot stress enough how epic this is. I NEED an extended version of it. Hell, whole colab album with Marina!

It really is,millennials shunned metal in favor of pop and rap,but Gen Z and Gen A are bringing it back into the spotlight,I saw Gojira and Korn live a few nights ago,all these teens and early 20 something’s outnumbered the Gen Xers by multitudes. Perhaps the kids are alright after all
